  1. Hi Everybody, I've got my eye on a C96, in incredible shape for it's age. The gun does not have a stock for sale with it. I had always wanted to buy one complete with original #s matching stock but thats seems to be very hard to find and extremely pricey (in excellent condition no less). I trying to get a concrete answer, on the legality of a reproduction stock that is built to original size dimentions. Any masons out there ?
  2. As I've mentioned previously, the bushmaster carbon 15 type 97 is only 46oz.. but, has a quick detach brake that I'm not familiar with. meaning, I don't know if the barrel is threaded for that type of compensator. I do believe, this pistol would skate past the rediculasly redundant NJ laws. (except the mag pictured of course)
  3. Unfortuneatly, this is NJ and I guarantee, right or wrong, if you are involved in a self defence shooting in your home OR place of business, the police will confiscate ALL registered weapons that they have a record of you having AND any rifles or shotguns that they happen to see in the process. It will then be up to you and an expencive attorney to start the process of retrieval AFTER you've been cleared of wrong doing. The ONLY exception to this, would be someone with strong personal connections to the local police hierarcy, or in a position of great political power within the state. I don't make reality, but I do live in it.
  4. Ok, I see, 2 more evils than allowed, But what of the bushmaster Carbon15 type 97 ? only 45oz and I think it has a brake that can be permanently pinned leaving only the "mag not in grip" evil. ?
  5. I don't know if anybody has asked this in the past . But, I was wondering, if the plr16 is jersey legal, because I cant see any reason it wouldn't be. I know you can't have a shrouded barrel on a pistol in PRNJ, but the PLRs barrel is unshrouded and I don't see any other "evil".
  6. Actually, I bought the gun new and unfired a few years back and I decided to shoot the gun a few months back ( I decided if I want to collect things to look at, I'll start collecting paintings : ) When I took it to the range, I had an issue with the cylinder release not returning all the way when the cylinder was closed sometimes. So, I applied some oil and worked it to where it doesn't seem to be a problem anymore but I would like someone to dress everything up in there with a stone and I figured If they are in there making the trigger even better (if possible ) is a no brainer. I've heard of python owners sending their guns to colt and getting TJ's , who knows, maybe all they do is stone everything smooth ?
  7. A while back I remember that people were questioning the reasoning for the M1 carbine being banned. If I remember correctly the owner of arms and ammo was getting ready to be able to sell a new model by auto ordnance that was not called an "M1" and legal "grey area" issues occured. Has this gone anywhere ? Everyone knows this new version rifle does not meet any of the AWB criteria.
  8. Anyone know of a top notch Gunsmith in the essex, hudson, bergen county area that could do a great TJ on my python elite ? If I can't find someone, thats not highly recomended and experianced with these colts I'll just send it back to colt.
  9. I have to say, the guys in my local PD, have really been great, in past years related to permits. That being said, I can't see them "inventing" this new rule of submitting the mental health form to 3 surrounding countys. In fact, the DT that is now in charge, is a very nice guy and explaned to me that the other countys very quickly return the form and it is MY OWN county that takes 6-8 weeks to retun the form. He said the "new paper work" is only if you haven't applied in the last 6 months. ( Had I only known) I wouldn't have waited 9. :wild:
  10. I was never a bullpup buy , but this has to be the baddest bullpup out there in 7.62 no less. I cannot see any reason this gun would violate any existing NJ laws.
  11. With a semi auto shotgun in NJ, you cannot have a detachable mag and a pistol grip, as that would constitute 2 evils. If it was tube fed you could have a pistol grip but the mag cap would have to be limited to 5 or 6 rounds (I can't remember which now) I myself, was wondering, if the new "bulldog 762" bullpup kit for the M1A socom was legal in the PRNJ. With the M1A socom kit, The barrel is of legal length, it has a muzzle brake not a flash hider, the overall lenght is OK, no bayonet lug, so having the evil of a pistol grip only amounts to 1 evil. I'd love to get an accountable answer, as the kit is $1200 dollars and extremely well built. I realize that, there really are no accountable answers in NJ only "grey areas" on purpose..LOL
  12. Here's the thing, I never resubmitted a mental health form after my first app. years ago, now they want it in "quadruplicate" supposedly to be sent to other surrounding countys. THAT is what I'm told is causing the new long delay and I'm wondering if other municipalitys have been enforcing this supposed "new directive" by the state or if it is only my towns new red tape excuse. As far as references go,I have several HG's and gave the same two referance names on every standard permit app. since the first one. The difference now, is I was asked to have the same two people that have been my refs' on all other apps. to fill out written forms and submit them.
  13. I applied for a new pistol permit last month, having not applied for one since february and was told the paper work requirements changed twice since my last app., once in march and then again in sept. I have only submitted the standard form sts033 and nothing else after my original permit years ago. I was told that I now needed the mental health form in "quadruplicate", the standard form, a money order for 18 dollars, two written recomendations and had to fill out two other local "departmental" forms. To top it all off I was told it would take approx. 2 months to get the permit when it used to take a few days to a week at most, as recent as this past february. I was also told that if I reapply for another, with the next 6 mon. I will not have to go through all this again. Is anyone else experiancing new lengthy delays and is this really new "state" requirements?
  14. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows for sure (if that's even possible in NJ) if the bullpup conversions for a mini 30 or M1A are NJ legal.
