  1. I have always found this discussion of keeping long guns at hand to be interesting.  In the past, I have at times kept an unloaded shotgun in the back of my carWith shells close by, I've thought that I could load a few and be ready to go in a few seconds.  I have heard Nappen say that while it is technically illegal to load a firearm, under "exigent circumstances" it could be OK (like in Uvalde).  The biggest problem with having one available at all times is that one must be careful about where to travel, so avoiding schools and government buildings, and leaving the state.

Another intriguing possibility is to have loaded mags near a rifle or carbine, so one could pop one in and be up and running in seconds.  Any opinions on the legality of that?

I wont be reupping my PTC. I’ve already paid the money and satisfied all those requirements, I wont pay another $435 to GFH (holster draw $235 + nj ccw $200) or $300 to weshoot. Already did the hq2, already did the use of force…. It’s a money grab all around.

EDIT: Forgot the $200 to the NJSP.

i think that is exactly what they are hoping for.

BTW, that is a pretty rigorous course of fire.  I have done a lot of training and think I could probably pass, but it certainly gets my attention.

  3. I don't mean to gloat, but I have posted how NICS checks in Florida take 5-10 minutes, or even less.  It appears that they respect the "I" for instant.  Having to return to a store to pick up a purchase a day or a few later can be a major, needless inconvenience.

  4. We have a major renovation going on at our home in Seaside Park.  We worked with Mark Marcille, who has offices in Metuchen and Seaside Park.  He has been great, but I have no idea if he works in your area.  You might try giving him a call to find out.

  5. I'm reluctant to start a new thread on this, but I'm wondering if I need a dedicated lock box for my car, or if it would be sufficient to lock my holstered handgun in my center console or in my glove box, both of which are lockable.  I suppose there are two considerations:  1. Complying with the confusing law, and 2. Keeping bad guys from getting guns.

The last time my car was broken into was around 40 years ago when my cassette player was stolen, so that's probably not much of a concern.  It's more that pesky legal requirement that has me concerned.

  6. I almost always carry IWB just behind my right hip, at 4:00.  Gun seems to disappear there.  I have occasionally tried AWIB, and while the draw is generally faster from there, I don't like that the barrel points at ones fermoral artery and other important stuff in that position.  As others have noted, a little printing does not seem to be much of a concern, but OWB with summer clothing the bulge would be pretty noticeable.  I'm thinking it's going to work better with heavier clothing in cooler weather.

  7. Just bought a really nice OWB leather holster from We the People Holsters.  I have carried for several years with various IWB holsters, and I realized that I'm not sure what kind of cover garment to wear with an OWB holster.  For those more knowledgeable, would the OWB be better in cooler weather, under a long flannel shirt, a hoodie, or something like that?  I'm kind of slim, and I'm thinking I would have a hard time concealing it under summer clothing.
