  1. Cool M1.

    I would try BLO.

Your stock looks varnished. I would try denatured alcohol to strip and BLO to refinish. It is VERY forgiving. Nothing like polyurethane. I don't think it's possible to screw it up. Plus, you can apply new oil every so often to clean up the wood.

Just be careful.. dispose of your rags properly!!! It can self ignite after sitting.

Lately I just use my hands, but I used to use paper towels. I always burned them or stored them in a sealed ammo can.

  2. Don't act likea typical ahole from NJ and u should be fine. With that being said, my family is from WV. WEVE traveled all around the state and almost everyone is so friendly I thought I must look like someone they knew. BUT, once we got to the real deep sticks, those people will kill you instantly and not even think twice and I'm speaking from experience.

    Carry extra mags!

  3. For those of you wondering about indoor plumbing..

I like indoor plumbing quite a bit. IF I were to buy land (it's a pipe dream to be honest) plumbing is a substantial investment. I'd be looking at 2-3 day stay tops. I could always add it later.

Plus, I spend 45 hours a week on a construction site. I'm used to it lol

  4. Buy some land near me, we can be shooting buddies! Funny story, took my buddy up there. Went to kmart where he saw a realty book and says a coworker asked to grab him one. Well 2 weeks later the guy retired and moved 5 miles from my cabin!

Where? I'll buy an adjacent acre to keep yuppies out

  5. I can help here. I was in desperate need for a slice of heaven to get me away from NJ for my 2 passions, atvs and shooting. I looked EVERYWHERE and had a small budget. NY is where its at. I have 10 square acres and it already had a cabin that wasnt finished. Had electric ran to it and brand new septic tank under a large outhouse. I paid only $15000! I dont have a well but I could actually live there with my water system. Its a perfect spot too as Im only 20 minutes above Pa and 10 minutes from several nice bars and Im already close to several of the locals. It dead on top of the mountain located right on snowmobile trails and I built a 100 yard shooting range. Please ask me anything you want.

Where's a good place to start looking?

  6. Been looking for some land in VT and NH. Appreciate if you got any RE connections in Maine.

PS - Sorry for hijacking OP thread. I will open separate one.

Oh please. The worst you can do is make me move to Maine.

  7. Most ammo is sold by dealers at gunshows, as in a case is opened and the boxes sold. A little more peace of mind knowing that they'd have to tamper with a ton of ammo.

I've also seen reloads sold labeled as reloads. Don't buy them.

Do, however, buy commercial reloads if you feel the need to do so. I bought a fair amount when it was all I could afford. It kept me shooting so I won't complain about the few duds.

  8. If you were looking for cabin land, where would you look and what would you expect to pay?

I found a small, half acre lot for cheap that I got my hopes up with. It is in the Poconos and unfortunately in a HOA. There goes my plan of an outhouse.

I'd love plumbing but the cost rises substantially.

  9. Well done, if your not hurt then why do it ? :):drinks: Be a gentlemen -

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANnnnnnnnnnnnnDDDDDDDDDDDD - we wonder why NJ is in the shitter - and the NE is a place people are fleeing from.

Not saying it doesn't happen elsewhere, but this is the problem with people in general.

    Just my .02

I'd sue for aggravation if I could!

  10. What is better, going to my insurance or his? Can I seek anything for having to use a sick day? I assume no. Not looking to sue for pain and suffering or anything crazy likethat.

Also, my vehicle is going to be totaled. KBB has a market value of $2500 and the repairs will exceed that. Assuming I can buy it back for $1000 or less, is using a salvage title a bad thing?

  11. In before "lol rear ended"

I was driving one night stopped on a busy road with my blinker on trying to make a legal left turn. A vehicle I didn't see plowed into my passenger rear corner, threw my vehicle through the intersection and fled. I never saw it.

Frame bent, leafspring bent, body crinkled, exhaust wrecked, hatch wrecked, etc. I drive an older POS but reliable SUV. I bought a new leafspring and had a shop install it and I continued to drive. Most financially viable option for me. Responding LEO did not issue me a ticket nor did he accuse me of anything in the slightest.

The responding LEO called back after a week and told me the kid turned himself in.

I didn't seek medical attention but I missed a days work. I used a sick day.

What do I do? I imagine my vehicle is probably totaled. Contact his insurance? Contact mine? I get the report soon.
