  1. He is absolutely the best. The nicest guy in the business I've ever dealt with. A true gentleman. Unfortunately, my job location changed, and, as pointed out above - he does not work Saturdays. If you are located in the area, you can't do better than Jim.
  2. I don't really see any benefits applying for C&R. And a lot of detractors. Thank you for the clarification.
  3. Generally, the turnaround time in our town is about two weeks. I read about three-four months people have to wait to geet their PP. Even though it's screwed up with the additional form and all the BS with notary and appointments, it can easily get much worse. What I personally would like to see - is letters to the chief, with copies to NJSP and the AG Office, written by a lawyer from NJ2ASor SAF, on behalf of all resident of a township putting him on notice.
  4. Something tell me that this will change nothing, other than puts my name on the sh*t list with the chief. Back when he came up with his own OGAM and one permit per application ideas, someone compaint to the NJSP FU, and they called him and told him to knock it off. Now the guy who complained, waits a long time every time he needs a PP.
  5. And another question... What rights will C & R give to ATF anf NJSP in terms of entering your house? How often can they inspect you? What is the inspection consists of? Is there a limitation where they can go in your house (i.e. if the guns are in the safe in the basement, can they go to your bedroom on the second floor?)? Do you as a collector have an option of showing them your bound book and/or guns in, let's say, your local police station, rather than letting them into your house?
  6. Thank you for the link to this letter. It makes it quite clear now. It still leaves the issue of NJSP FU staff making up their own sh*t open, but at least this is something that can be printed out and shown to the FFL, while buying guns. The only thing I wish' was there - is a NJSP letterhead, 'cause the format this letter is in now can be perceived as a homemade fake by a sales person in the store. Is there a way to obtain a pdf scan of the paper version of this letter - the one with actual signatue and on official stationary? Or may be one of the FFL forum members can request a same letter addressed to them as a clarification on OGAM? Thanks, Eugene.
  7. Did all that. Answer - the chief wants it done that way. Period. He is very anti-gun and was famous for trying to institute OGAM (and one permit per application) locally before it was passed as a law. That BS was over with, following multiple complaints to NJSP FU. If NJ2AS wants to do something about it - please e-mail me and I will gladly provide the name of the township and, if needed, get that paperwork. I am not prepared to accuse the chief of violating the law - don't want every permit to take six months.
  8. No. I was very specific with the question and received a very specific answer. In sum and substance, and among other things I was told that NJSP makes the rules, period. I welcome forum members to call them and prove me wrong.
  9. In my town - we do. Appointment to pick up the forms, appointment to drop them off and sign the permits and, sometimes, appointment to pick them up. All during normal business hours. No night or weekend service. Additionaly, a notarized statement that you are not a criminal is required every time you submit for a permit.
  10. As per NJSP Firearms Unit (I personally called them about this issue a month ago and asked them specifically if I can buy more than one handgun a month with a C&R, having the idea of obtaining one): 1. C&R does NOT automatically exempt you from OGAM - you need to file that BS application for exemption with NJSP every time you want ro buy more than one handgun a month. 2. If you collect guns, NJSP will approve this application, even if you do not have C&R. I know that it contradicts the OGAM law, but hey - this is NJSP. They always liked to make up they own laws and rules, right? P.S. I did apply and was quickly approved for an exemption six months ago, when I needed to pick up a large collection.
  11. Done with the qualification part. Quick and painless. Thanks, Anthony. Now, to the next hurdle - trying to find a place that takes 1.5 X 1.5 photos. It's funny, really: for the retired cops they ask for a 2 X 2 pics (regular passport photo), and for a regular Joe - 1.5 X 1.5, which, as it appears, no one takes.
  12. I am not calling anybody "sheeple". Everyone has his own life to live. On another note, I'd prefer not to discuss my life story here, especially for the sake of curiosity. Forum anonymity is a tricky concept. Especially in New Jersey. Hope you understand.
