  1. Thanks for all that info. To make things more confusing everyone calls semi auto M14 clones "M1A's". But that is just a registered trademark name of one company. Every other company making semi auto M14 clones has to call them something different. And the NJ gun laws only refer to something called a "M14S" as being banned by name whatever that may be. I would assume as long as my rifle is not called an "M14S" ans is post ban compliant I should be ok.
  2. Is an LRB Arms receiver marked "M14SA" legal? I assume the SA stands for semi auto...
  3. I was told the owner ended it today....
  4. Made by first trip to Shore Shot today and apparently as of today there is no longer any discount for forum members. Luckily they still had the military discount which seemed to work out to the same...
  5. I thought it was $10 an hour if you are a forum member? Do they have LEO or military discounts as well?
  6. Thanks. Can't seem to find that page but I'll keep looking.
  7. Im going to take a ride down to Shore Shot for the first time this weekend. Does anyone know off hand what gun rentals they have there? And could i use my own ammo in gun rentals?
  8. Is it even possible to go to SS or BA on a weekend and not have to wait?
  9. Wow. So I can test fire my new 1903 Springfield there? I might need to try it out...
  10. Has anyone used the BA rifle range? I know it's only 25 yards but I was wondering what kind of rifles you can shoot there.
  11. Thanks. So since the M14/M1A has no pistol grip it could have a flash hider, correct? Or maybe a flash hider that's permanently attached?
  12. Ok thanks. "M1A" is actually a registered trademark of Springfield Armory. Most of the other companies just call it "M14" or "M14 NM" on the reciever and I wasn't sure if that was ok.
  13. I know a "M1A" with ban compliant features is legal in NJ but the only rifles that you'll see marked "M1A" are the ones mde by Springfield Armory. I was thinking of getting a CMP M14 parts kits and getting it built onto a semi auto receiver. But each company has their own name for a semi auto M14 type receiver. Are there any certain words on the receiver that would make it a no go?
  14. Thanks for all the information. It does seem that alot of time is needed to join. I'm not sure I have the time to dedicate to attend all these events in order to become a member. But maybe I can go for a tour someday and maybe I might change my mind...
  15. Does anyone know if the East Brunswick range is currently open for LEO's to use for personal use?
  16. Ok, thanks. How long do most of these competition events usually go for? And how much time is given to complete the number of events required for membership?
  17. Thanks. What kind of rifles can be used in the competition events?
  18. Thanks. I might have to take you up on your offer...
  19. I actually did try a search. But for some reason if you do a search for the word "OBRPC" you get an error message saying that is an invalid search word. I'm no expert shooter by any means and I'm sure many of the range members are much better with a handgun than I am. But I guess being a LEO for 9 years, I feel silly having to "prove" my gun handling abilities to people before I can join. Are any of the competiions with rifles and if so, what kind?
  20. I've had thoughts of joining Old Bridge a few times over the years. But once I start reading about meetings, having to get voted in, etc I always past on it. I basically just want a range where I can shoot when I have time and that's it. Right now I just take a hike down to Fort Dix. For $3 an hour and half price membership it's hard to beat other than the long drive. Does one have to participate in any of the competitions and whatnot that Old Bridge has?
  21. I did. I just have to call and tell them when I'm coming in so they will have it for me.
  22. Think I'm going to try out Shore Shot over Brick Armory as they have barricades in some of their lanes apparantly. I guess when I go pay I just tell them I'm a member of this forum to get the 1/2 price discount?
  23. Ok, thanks for the info. I'll have to take a ride down there and try it out.
