  1. scope came back.....bad erector assembly.
  2. i sent it to leupold last week. we'll see how it turns out. from what ive been reading there has been a few problems with the new vx-3 (not to be confused with the vx-iii) i should hear from leupold within the next week or two.
  3. bought a new savage 116 in .300 win mag. i put a leupold vx-3 4.5-14 i had on my savage 30-06 that i bought 6 months ago. the 30-06 used to have a leupold 2-7 that used to shoot holes in holes. at the same time i bought the new vx-3 i also bought a reload press and started reloading. put the vx-3 on the 30-06 and went to the range with my first reloads at the same time. i always got a bunch of flyers with some decent groups and blamed it on being new to reloading. i tried every powder and bullet combination, with proper cleaning and all. never got those tight groups again. i put the 2-7 scope on a cz 550 .375 H&H and i shoot holes through hole with that, with my reloads.........ok so i put the vx-3 on the new .300 win mag and started to reload for that. started out with factory loads to get some brass. i absolutely CANNOT get any sort of group with this gun, even withh factory. two shots together, three more a foot down or to the left. changed rings and base, to a picatinny rail and weever rings, first shot was a foot to the left, ok, new mount...adjust for the foot, it moves a half inch. this scope has to be bad internally, im going to try and sent it back to leupold. i think this scope was bad out of the box as i never got any group better than 5 inches off of the 30-6 either. anyone ever have a bad leupold out of the box???
  4. i kicks just a bit more... id say its between the 30-06 and a 12 guage with 3 1/2 magnum buck shot.
  5. yeah, it was guns and ammo, i found the magazine....i think its definitely worth a try, as my new cz 500 .375 h&h is a damn fouler. peeking down the muzzle, it looks like a barber pole, i just cant seem to get it all out. though i have a friend going to gander mountain today, whos going to pick me up some kg-12 and sweets 7.62......damn!!!! i should have told him to pick up some powder...why didnt i read this post yesterday..lol
  6. you know, i asked this question before, i forgot. i love going to cabelas, but i hate the two hour ride in a ford f250 8 cyl. the trip cost $50 in gas...
  7. who has a good selection of brass and bullets in north NJ.....looking for .375 H&H 30-06
  8. i guess you never lived in a city like newark then.... the criminals here dont "learn" and crime doesnt drop from word getting around. these ghetto folks are animals and most likely are going to be animals for life, because you can make $1000 a night selling crack and heroin... and stabbing and robbing us good folk, to be sworn into gangs. its real. and they are not interested in working at walmart instead of selling crack.
  9. nj wont get it because you cant discriminate, so if you and i get one, they have to give one to the ghetto thugs in newark and camden as well. and im from newark, so they know we will be shooting all the ghetto thugs who try and rob us every night (which i think would be great, as i have a friend who was robbed and stabbed the other day. no words exchanged before the stab, just a stab, blocked with his arm luckily, then, let me get your shit). they know the civilians would put an end to most ghetto robbers. and we cant have that now could we...
  10. i have been experimenting though with a mix of my dogs shit, miracle grow, my saved cigarette ashes, and swept up facial hair shavings as a flash suppressor. you just watch when federal comes calling for the recipe.
  11. i just read and srticle in i think rifleman magazine (i forget, i left it at work). it was a great article that had borescope pics from a brand new unfired rifle. before, after, after clean, after many rounds on a greshly fouled barrel. from the pics it actually cleared all the copper from the standard loads. it seems like pretty amazing stuff, and it explains how it works in detail, which i wont get to in here. but being that the gas is behind the bullet, it reacts with the laid down copper, and removes and blasts it out with the exiting gas. ineed to try this stuff out, just sucks that the have a load for the .375 h&h which i could use, but no 30-06..
  12. nice... cant go wrong with a savage...
