  2. In 2005 they offered a lifetime subscription that would work in your vehicle, your boat, your computer, and your phone for $395. I bought it risking the fact that Sirius may not even survive and go belly up at any time. I won that bet. The main reason I bought it was because the Howard Stern, which is kind of funny because I can't stand his Hollywood A-Lister bullshit and haven't listened to him in years. But there is some great content in the SiriusXM system.  So in actuality today I paid $23.23 per year and every year that number continues to go down.

  3. NJ Senate president just gave gun owners new ammo in their challenge to state's carry laws

By Cam Edwards | 9:30 AM on May 23, 2023

While the fight over New Jersey’s concealed carry laws moves to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the head of the New Jersey Senate is giving gun owners a new bit of legal ammunition in their quest to get rid of the “gun-free zones”, draconian application requirements, and costly fees associated with obtaining a carry license.

In an interview with the New Jersey Globe, Senate President Nicholas Scutari said he still believes the post-Bruen carry restrictions imposed by lawmakers will survive court scrutiny, even though U.S. District Judge Renee Marie Bumb has slapped an injunction on many of the law’s requirements. But if the courts ultimately side against the state, Scutari says lawmakers will simply try again.

Nicky boy, When digging a hole for yourself, consider putting down the Shovel!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this little panty waste got a NJ Permit to Carry when nobody ever got one.

I sold my Harley UltraGlide Classic in 2013, no regrets, as todays bikers look like a bunch of old men still thinking their 30 years old.

It isn't exactly the same as prohibiting carry in a store, but what does everyone think about ranges that require any handgun used there to be unloaded and cased upon entering the facility? I have found one recently that appears not to recognize the existence of real concealed carry in NJ, Range 129 near Absecon. A few others seem to not allow drawing a loaded weapon at te facility.  I suspect some of these rules predate the effect of Bruen on concealed carry here, but also I think the ranges need to catch up with the times.

I would avoid those like the plague. Any gun range or gun seller that can't respect our right to legally carry doesn't deserve your money.

These are typically commercial ranges and they don't want any Tom, Dick or (Dirty) Harry messing about with holsters. Pretty much all these ranges will offer some kind of holster draw class which will then allow you to use a holster on their range.

This policy does not conflict with concealed carry permits. They are happy for you to carry your gun, just don't draw it. I'm guessing even that rule would be waived if an urgent situation arose.

I can understand the policy. I have heard of plenty of qualification courses of fire that have been used to obtain a carry permit, but had no element of safe holster use included. Having a permit to carry in a holster does not equate to proof of any level of knowledge or ability on safe use of a holster.

I just wanted to weigh in here, since this is where I took my PTC courses and quals. They do indeed have holster draw as part of their training. If you trained and passed there, you can carry as well as holster draw at their range. I can't respond to those who didn't train there.

  6. Murder in Atlantic City New Jersey illustrates why casinos are wrong on guns

In New Jersey, since the people have regained their right to carry, all three branches of the state government went ballistic over this. Yes, all three. Governor Phil Murphy came out swinging with statements admonishing the Supreme Court. There were many judges who were issuing permits to carry with ridiculous restrictions and associated court orders. Then there was the legislature, undoubtedly at the behest of the Murphy administration, that drafted and passed a law destroying the practical ability for permit holders to actually carry. A recent guilty plea in a murder case might strengthen arguments of gun owners and weaken excuses for casino policy.

  7. In Which States Must You Notify an Officer You’re Carrying?

Though concealed carry permit holders are some of the most law-abiding citizens, there’s a good chance we will encounter a cop while carrying at some point. What does one do in this situation? Officers have varying reactions to being told that a vehicle inhabitant is armed. Some experts will tell you to keep that information to yourself unless asked. However, certain states require that gun owners inform law enforcement that they have a permit and are carrying.

Which States Require That I Notify an Officer That I’m Carrying?

Although subject to change, there are currently 12 states, along with the District of Columbia, that require you to notify law enforcement upon first contact that you are concealed carrying. In addition, although there is no state law requiring notification in California, some counties include a must-notify restriction on permits. There are an additional 14 states with laws that stipulate you must notify only when asked by law enforcement.

    Must-Notify States

    • Alaska
    • Arkansas
    • California — Although there is no state law, some counties are including a must-notify restriction on permits.
    • Washington, D.C.
    • Hawaii
    • Louisiana
    • Maine — If carrying without a permit. However, not if you are carrying with a permit.
    • Michigan
    • Nebraska
    • North Carolina
    • North Dakota — If a North Dakota resident constitutionally carrying without a permit. However, not if you are carrying with a permit.
    • Ohio
    • South Carolina
    • Texas

    Notify-When-Asked States

    • Arizona
    • Florida
    • Illinois
    • Kentucky
    • Minnesota
    • Missouri
    • New York
    • Oklahoma
    • Oregon
    • Pennsylvania
    • Tennessee
    • Virginia
    • Washington
    • Wisconsin
    • Wyoming

How Should I Notify an Officer?

If you’re in a must-notify state or simply feel more comfortable informing an officer immediately, make sure to do so in a non-threatening manner. You can hand over your permit with your driver’s license and simply state that your weapon is on you. Then inform the cop where the firearm is. Keep your hands on the steering wheel through the entire conversation. He or she may ask to hold on to the gun until the end of the interaction. It’s important that you don’t argue and do exactly as asked. If you feel you’ve been treated unfairly, note the officer’s name and badge number. Then bring your issue to the department at a later time. At the end of the day, everyone just wants to get home safely.
