  1. Was going to go to Shore Shot, ended going to BA, guys there were talking about it. I'm a member at SS, don't really like going, guys there are pretty rude and give me the hairy eyeball, one or two of the guys are nice, the rest make it seem like your bothering them. I was there at 5:30 sunday door was locked people inside shooting (i'm assuming employees) and they close at 6? I guess membership doesn't have its privliedges. Sad becasue I became a member at the begining of the month, I'm now a member of BA too. Really glad I chose to go to BA at 6:30 today

LOL, so let me get this straight, you know they close at 6PM and you supposedly show up at the door at 5:30 to start shooting? I'm gonna call BS! I was there at the end of the day Sunday, they were really busy all day and still had most of the lanes full at 5:45 when Dan locked the door because for the last several weeks inconsiderate people have shown up at the last minute to purchase or pick-up guns and the guys wind up getting stuck there for one reason or another until 7:00 or latter. I don't know about you but I’d rather be home with my family on a Sunday night than be stuck at work for an extra hour that I'm not getting paid for to help someone incapable of understanding 8AM-6PM business hours means the employees actually get to go home at 6:00. I would love to know who you are talking about, I have dealt with Billy, Kyle, Andy, Dan, Jeff, Tiny, Troy, Mike and Kenny and they have all always gone above and beyond to be helpful. Hell I have seen their range masters actually take time with new shooters to teach them for free. Most places want to sell you into a class. On the other hand I have never had a pleasant experience at brick armory, even as far back as when they were on Chambers Bridge Road. Phil was the nicest of the bunch and I always felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman even with him.

  2. I rented at SS once and only once. My daughter wanted to try a .22. The price on their Ammo and rentals when I rented were very high. I went to buy a G22 mag. The price was $48.95. per mag. I call that gouging I bought online for a still high $29.00 and no sales tax. I will never buy another thing at SS. The attitude and the prices turn me off. They are not doing me a favor by selling to me. Especially at those prices.

So where does there membership, and walk on's fit into the range? I know some ranges that Don't rent guns. $48 for a mag? COME ON. Maybe there insurance would be much less if they didn't rent guns.

 Seriously? So $15 to rent a pistol is high? Their ammo is priced accordingly considering the current market conditions and no one is forcing you to buy it. If you can find it cheaper have fun. The $20 walk-on fee has been the same since the day they opened their doors in 1993. Shore Shot memberships have dropped more than $100 since the '90s, they used to be $350 a year and are now $225 a year and if you purchase a firearm from them they will even in most cases sell you a membership at the LEO rate of $185. Shore Shot stocks various magazines and accessories on the shelf which costs money. They do not purchase them to have their money tied up for six months to a year so they can sell them to you for what they paid for them. Billy is good people, I have known him and his mother for about 20 years, I support them because I'd rather have a range to go to when I want to shoot than save a buck here and there. I'd bet you would be the first whiney tool to complain if they went out of business too.

  3. IMO no AK is worth more than $500 but I have seen $700 ARs selling for $2500 and $99 lowers selling for $350 lately so you may have been able to buy 3 Saigas "pre-Newtown" but unless you have a time machine to go back and do it that means exactly squat. I used to be able to buy 840 rounds of Federal M855 for $275 back in the '90s, it doesn't mean it is worth the $900 it is selling for right now but it doesn't mean I'm ever going to see it for $275 again either.

  4. Arsenal Inc Unviels the New Jersey Ready, SAM7R-61N Semi-Automatic Rifle

Thought this was worth a look.

Las Vegas, NV --(Ammoland.com)- With another tax season ready to wrap up, Arsenal, Inc. decided on a “return” that favors the East Coast with a rifle specifically created for the residents of New Jersey.

The SAM7R-61N semi-automatic rifle comes with the same high quality and standard synonymous with Arsenal of Bulgaria — while factoring in some features that make it more widely available in the US.

The 7.62 x 39mm AK-style rifle has a milled and forged receiver, chrome-lined, hammer-forged barrel, and trap door, intermediate length butt stock.

To be compliant with New Jersey law, the rifle was built without an accessory lug and the muzzle brake was permanently attached.

  5. So since NJ has elected to be a "point of contact" state and is obviously falling down on the job, would we have any recourse in Federal court against the state to basically take the process away from the state and give the FFLs the option of using the Federal NICs system directly? Obviously the federally run NICs system is experiencing just as much of an increase in volume (at least as a percentage) and they can still perform their duties in a reasonable period of time. I think this exposes a flaw in NJ's system that is patently unacceptable. If they don't feel the need to correct the problem they should be slapped like the insolent children they are.

  6. If this isn't resolved in a couple of months, time for a lawsuit.

Since the NJ2AS OEC is close to reaching its goal, would it be possible to start another campaign dedicated to fighting the aftermath of the current catastrophe? The campaign could be sufficiently flexible to allow for addressing the most pressing issues at the time of completion, which we can't necessarily anticipate at this time.

The moment a campaign thermometer goes up on the NJ2AS website, I'll ante up with $200.

I think the people who have applied for, paid for and undergone extensive background checks for the issuance of pistol purchase permits, waited an inordinate period of time in addition to the time allotted for issuance of said permits under the law, then limited in the execution of said permits under additional law by OGAM, then further denied their rights due to the expiration of said permits as a result of unacceptable delays incurred during the processing of the redundant so called "instant background check" that must be performed at the point of sale have sufficient standing to bring a civil rights case against the State of New Jersey for having been denied their civil rights under color of law. I would bet even the ACLU would love to jump on that one. Imagine if a state tried to make you do all that crap to vote, they would lose it!

  7. I heard last night from someone in town that the father does not work directly for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, that they have close ties to them through a relative or friend. Also apparently the family recently moved to Toms River from a large piece of property, perhaps a farm, in Jackson. They may have been used to keeping a .22 around for dealing with varmint in such areas. Not really an excuse but it could shed some light on why a loaded .22 was laying around.

  8. We Were Soldiers

Moore: "Round trip by chopper's thirty minutes. That means the first sixty men on the ground wil be there a half hour alone. Son of a ****. Think maybe you oghtta get yourself that M-16."

Plumley: "Time comes I need one, sir, there'll be plenty of 'em lying on the ground."

    Heat

    Saving Private Ryan

    Young Guns

    Black Hawk Down

Yup, D-day in Saving Private Ryan was a driving factor in the building of my surround system. The whizzing sound of rounds flying all around you and the sound of them hitting people, the tank traps, water and sand was chilling to say the least. Kind of gives you a sense of the balls those guys had, running head-long into MG42 bursts across and open beach like that.

  9. My neighbor stopped by last night, he knows the father of the six year old. Apparently the father of the four year old works for the Ocean County Prosecutors office. He told me the Atlantic County Prosecutors office has been asked to investigate the incident. I don't know this as fact, just what he told me. Such a sin, I have (as of Saturday) a six and a seven year old, I can't even begin to think about what the six year old kid's family is going through. So sad.

  10. Heat was my first thought, still one of, if not the best.

Blackhawk Down and Act of Valor had a few good ones but no one mentioned the scene in the Matrix where Neo and Trinity break in to rescue Morpheus, next to the city shoot out in Heat that was my second favorite. Let us not forget the Kill Bill church scene.

  11.

    YOU WILL BE DENIED.

And the $64,000,000 question is this solves crime exactly how? They can't process a background check mandated in 1966 to be performed in 30 days in less than 60, they can't perform an "instant" background check mandated in the '90s to be performed at the point of sale in less than 10 business days but they can bust you balls for trying to hedge you bets on their ineptness for submitting your second background check 48 hours earlier than the 30 days required by law. Thank God the criminals in this state don't have to worry about all this bs. I can't wait for the day i get to see this state in my rear view mirror for the last time!

  12. I had a similar issue, ordered a SureFire Fury December 15th, website said it was in stock then got an email that it was back ordered. Didn't actually get it until January 5th. Wasn't happy but I wasn't really in a hurry to get it either, it was a good price and an impulse buy because of the price. I would think twice about dealing with them if it was something I needed quickly.

  13. At issue is their definition of a "frame or receiver" which as far as the AR-15 is concerned, has been a point of contention since it was first marketed. Many believe the upper receiver should have been the registered part of the firearm and not the lower. The USPS definition is also inconsistant with the BATFE's and is way too vague to be accurately applied to an AR upper by someone that does not know better or has a hostile attitude towards guns and gun owners. One more reason to just not support the USPS foe anything. No serious excuse exists for them to have a problem shipping it other than their desire to give you a complimentary hard time. Next time they cry the blues they can't continue operate without raising their rates or reducing their services you will know why.

  14. Can anyone point to any statute in 2c that even authorizes the state to perform NICs background check? There is law that says they can't add any requirements other than those listed and the federal law provides for waiving the NICs check if the state already has a permit/background check in place. No one has ever been able to point out the NJ law that gives the state the authority to perform these checks or show where there are penalties for not performing them.

  15. The problem here in NJ is the cycle is delayed to some extent because of the antiquated paper permit process. The December and January numbers are most likely residual purchases of pistols from the election results. This month and next are going to be high as the permits issued post Newtown are going to start hitting. Although I would imagine the Newtown surge will be less severe considering most people's concerns would be focused on long guns. Either way this issue needs to be addressed in short order; if the state can't handle its responsibilities then it needs to reconsider some of its absurdly redundant processes or be dragged into court to defend them.

  16. Wow now its getting up to 14 days? This is outrageous. Im waiting on 2 pistol permits, i think id be lucky to be able to buy ONE pistol in 90 days at this rate. I hate having to feel like a second class citizen in this state just because i am a gun owner.

Every person that got screwed out of a purchase because they had to wait 30 days to submit a second purchase to NICs then were denied because their permit expired before the state got around processing the "instant point of sale check" should file a federal suit for being denied their civil right to keep and bear arms under color of law. How much shit can you lump onto people before it becomes obvious that the only net effect is denying law abiding people their rights. Enough already.
