  1. Nope.

    From title2c_chapter39 -

    (2) A person carrying a firearm or knife in the woods or fields or upon the

waters of this State for the purpose of hunting, target practice or fishing, provided that

the firearm or knife is legal and appropriate for hunting or fishing purposes in this State

and he has in his possession a valid hunting license, or, with respect to fresh water

    fishing, a valid fishing license;

So I guess I was wrong on all of this

They've certainly found ways to prevent you from carrying a handgun anywhere at anytime in this state.

I can't wait to get the heck out of this state.

  2.

New Jersey Regs. for bowhunting say:

    It is unlawful to:

    • use or possess a poison arrow or one with an explosive tip
    • use an edged head for taking game birds in flight
    • use a bow one-half hour after sunset until one-half hour before sunrise during any hunting season
    • use a bow and arrow from any vehicle, moving or stationary
    • have both a firearm and bow in possession or under control while hunting
    • transport in a vehicle a crossbow in the cocked position

Oh, I stand corrected then.  Like I said, I didn't read the specific hunting laws.

I'm guessing it would be OK on your property during a legal shotgun/rifle hunt, just not bow?

  3. Just to clarify, you are legally allowed to carry a handgun on property you own.  I haven't read specific hunting laws, but I don't think anything would keep you from carrying a handgun on you, while on your own private property while hunting.  You just can't use it as your hunting weapon.

IE... your bow hunting on your property, you can carry the handgun with you(as far as I know).  Just don't shoot the deer with it.  And be mindful of your property boundaries, don't shoot the deer with the bow, and then go onto your neighbors property with the handgun still strapped to your hip looking for the deer.

  4. My friend who doesn't have a computer submitted his application for 3 P2P's to NJSP Woodbine on 5/15/13.  It's been 109 days and he's still waiting.

Yesterday, my friend called the barracks..they said no permits yet, so he called the firearms unit.  The lady got mad he was calling up there directly(said only Troopers should be calling) but she said she didn't even get his application until August 3rd!!  She said likely a few more weeks at least.

He called the Attorney Generals office to file a complaint today, they said call NJSP internal affairs first, and if they give him any trouble to call back to the AG's office.  He called internal affairs(office of professional standards) and he said "I'd like to file a complaint".  Guy says "ok, about a Trooper?"  My friend says "No, the firearms unit/SBI/firearms process".  The guy said "let me guess, you've been waiting a long time for your permits?"   DING DING DING!!

So the conversation goes on, and the guy in internal affairs says "I know the law states 30 days".

So apparently they are well aware of the laws, and choose to ignore it/not comply with it.  What's that saying I've heard cops saying before?  Oh yeah... "Ignorance of the law is not an excuse".

He asked how long has he been waiting.  My friend replies today is day 122(4 months).  The guy says "oh, wow, that long..."

The investigator said he is going to make some calls and get back to him today.

  5. And as far as the snap on tool statement. I know a lot of AAA certified mechanics that have major investments in their tools. When time permits after a job or at the end of the day, they wipe down every single one of it's oil, grease, crud, etc. clean... I've seen tools in shops that look like they were ran over by tanks. Ratchets that barely racheted.

I may not keep my motorcycles or guns clean, but I do keep all of my tools wiped down and clean.  I can't stand going into the tool box for a screw driver only to find it greasy/oily.  Better than rusting though

  6. Yeah......I am sure.........kinda like the clean the motorcycle thing.........a clean bike is a sign of a sick mind and that your are doing more polishing than riding........

I know someone who does a COMPLETE DETAIL strip of a gov 45 EACH and every time he shoots its...whether it is one round or 100 etc...talk about ADD.......yikes...

My bike is currently covered in mud.  I didn't feel like dragging the hose out last time I rode it.  Dual sport bike(DRZ-400).

Oh and my AR hasn't been cleaned in over 200 rounds.

Guess I don't have OCD

  7. Unless the compact is different just google "M&P alternative takedown". It's the same as the glock. Don't have to use the tool. I never do. I pull the trigger .

This.  I've never even used the tool on my M&P 45.  I'm used to the take down procedure from my Glock's, so pulling the trigger isn't that big of an issue to me.

The M&P 9mm Shield doesn't even come with the tool.

  8. Personally, I would build it myself.

Daniel Defense makes good stuff, but IMO you can build a quality rifle that will perform just as well for less money.

Just something gratifying about building something yourself too.

Plus that and the knowlegde of being able to work on the rifle yourself...is priceless.

  9. Got the call tonight...2 weeks 5 days for P2P extension from NJSP.

I went out and picked up this extended permit tonight.  I wasn't really in a rush to get it as I don't have the money to go out and buy the pistol now anyways.  What has me pissed off is that it is dated 7/29/2013.  I didn't even get the call to come pick it up until 8/15!  17 days off my 90 days just from NJSP delays.

    Saving my pennies.

  10. 501( c)(3) organizations are not allowed to participate in campaigning or lobbying activities but can promote whatever cause they want.

501( c)(4) organizations can participate in campaigning and lobbying.

I don't know what type of non profit ceasethinking NJ uses.

Well there is CeasefireNJ and Heeding Gods Call- both of which Bryan Miller is some sort of "officer" of.

Before we get too far into this, what is NJ2AS's status?  I know they are a non profit organization- but what classification?

  11. I'd ask the mods not to move this to the politics section, if possible. This isn't here for the purpose of inciting political debate, just pointing out something about this crap that the community can get involved in cleaning up.

The IRS forbids tax exempt organizations from excessive lobbying, so how about we send in some complaints?

    http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f13909.pdf

That's the form for filing a complaint. I know the IRS sucks, but it can't hurt to try.

If they get enough complaints, they very well may act on it.

Without getting into the politics of it, I'm just wondering how much lobbying can a tax exempt group do before it's too much to maintain its status?

Obviously the group in question was involved in lobbying- as Bryan Miller has attended legislature hearings, and is frequently in the press associating with legislators pushing gun control.

I think it is a good idea to leave this out of the politics section, as many of us non-supporters may be able to send in complaints, and the more the IRS receives, the better.
