  1. HankSauce They have a resturant in Sea Isle City and sell the sauce in a number of places in Southern NJ. It's not the hottest but it has good heat and great flavor.

Second is Endorphin Rush. I got a bottle in Virginia Beach in 1996 and am now almost out of it. Confused?? I shake it up then use the tip of a butter knife to scrape a little off the inside of the cap then apply to the desired food. 1 little dip is enough to heat up a slice of pizza. 1/2 teaspoon heats up a pot of chilli.

I forgot about Hanks.  I love their Cilanktro sauce(green label).  They came out with a Garden Ghost sauce(white label)...my god that stuff is hot.

  2. I work for USPS as a Rural Carrier Associate.  I'm essentially a subsitute carrier that can fill in for the regular carrier when they are sick, go on vacation etc.  I'm not here to defend the USPS at all.  The volume of mail lately has been insane. My route has 550 families, roughly about 450 stops.

One day I worked last week:

I came in at 8AM(the earliest we're allowed to start because that is when the final truck of mail arrives at the post office), sorted mail- we have to take the mail and put it in order of the route.  Some does come in "sorted", but so much mail comes in unsorted that it makes sense to just put it up into our "case"(metal box that we organize the mail according to the route in) so it takes us less time on the street trying to deliver from two trays rather then one.  With two it gets confusing since one tray will have you stopping at every house and the other won't...it's tough for simple minded people like me to keep this organized.  Then add in trays of advertisements that have to go to every house(and are addressed like Red Plum advertisements) and it becomes a three ring circus in the truck pretty quickly.

This particular day, I had 8 trays(about 2ft long) full of "sorted"(called DPS or Delivery Point Sequence) mail.  The reason why I'm using quotations around sorted is because more often then not some stuff is out of order, or not for my route, or sometimes not even for our state.  Most magazines, newspapers, and other bigger mail don't come in sorted at all.  Packages aren't sorted at all.  This day, I sorted mail (with no breaks at all- I didn't even have time for lunch) until 2:35 in the afternoon.  Loaded the truck and got out on the road by 2:45.

I was out delivering the mail till 8:00pm, and still had to bring packages back because I could not find the houses due to it being dark, and people not properly marking their homes with the house number

And guess what... contrary to what someone said previously in this thread- we DO NOT get overtime as rural carriers.  We get paid the "evaluated time" that the post office says the route "should" take.  My route is evaluated at 7.5 hours.  So even though that day I worked 12 hours, I only get paid for 7.5 hours.  So be happy...you got 4.5 hours of free mail delivery out of me.  And for someone who might just think I'm slow at doing the job- the regular carrier who has been working that route for 15 years is averaging 10 hours per day.

They seem to do the evaluations when mail is very light, and short us on things like package delivery for example:

They only give us 30 seconds to deliver a package.  With the amount of mail, and packages in the back of the truck, it takes me on average at least a minute to a minute and a half just to find the package.  Multiply this by 50-100 packages and the time adds up, big time. Around Christmas time I had up to 300 packages one day.  I'd say roughly 1/2 of all of the packages do not fit into mail boxes, so I have to find the house(or apartment which is a PITA), scan the package, walk/drive to it, and deliver the package.  Wrap it in a trash bag if it's raining.  Then use the scanner and mark it as delivered.

Lets not even get into the signature required packages, or certified letters where I essentially have to fill out paperwork for each one, and then wait for people to come to do the door, and get them to sign for it.

Some carriers have easy routes, and were back in the office, and heading home by noon...so the routes aren't exactly divided up fairly, but I'm sure their route evaluation is a lot shorter than mine(theirs is probably 4.5-5 hours or so).

Here is a picture of the back of my mail truck after it was loaded.  14 trays of mail to deliver, and probably about 45 packages(the 6 buckets are loaded with smaller packages).

    DD2D8D29-6150-4606-8657-34A532BA9200_zps

I had from 2:45 till 5:59 to deliver all of this, according to the postmaster/supervisor.  That is when the outgoing mail truck leaves.  Quite impossible.

So before you blame the carrier... think about it-  We work for 12 hours, get no breaks, and only get paid for 7.5 hours.  Us subsitute carriers don't receive any medical/vision/dental benefits either.

  3. So wait a second, you mean they can now do what takes place in free states (even faster and for free) in a few hours.  Wow NJ finally moving into the 1980's!  :maninlove:

No, no, no.  The application still has to go to Trenton for other checks(I think they check for stuff like payment of child support etc), the typing up of the permits, and the signature.  This is where my applications always sat for at least a month or two.

  4. I use a safety razor for the first pass of my shave.  It's a Merkur 180 long handle or something.  I use Astra blades that were like 10.99 for 100 on Amazon.  I swap them out about every 4 or 5 shaves.   I don't like using it to go against the grain for the second pass.  I use a Gillette Fusion Proglide for that, but I cannot stand spending $20.95 on 4 packs of razors for it.  I know there is the dollar shave club, but I'm still wondering about the quality of their blades.

  5. I have the YHM Phantom on my AR, it's definitely louder than a standard crowned barrel.  Things I dislike about it: It's a grey color, doesn't really match the "black rifle" image.  2. it annoys people shooting next to you because they get hit with the air blast.  Other then that, I love it.

  6. How do you refinish the bayonet lug after grinding it off? That sounds like an easy enough project to be left with a quality upper.  Do you have to send it out?

I didn't send mine out at all.

I used some blue painters tape around the barrel a few inches in both directions, and just hit it with some flat black BBQ grill spray paint(it's high temp paint, so it'll be able to handle the heat of the barrel). It's held up for over a year now.  Probably not the ideal way to do it, but it works and you can hardly tell the difference.

  7. The computer system notifies the Sergeants(or higher officers) if there is a criminal record, or no criminal record.  Based on that, all they have to do is click approve, or reject.  They can actually do it from their cell phones.

I'm still not sure how long it'll sit up in Trenton after that, while they do the rest of the checks and await the signature on the pistol permits.

  8. haha - ok thanks first AR and first build attempt.  Looked like a nice start oh well.

I wasn't sure if flash hider was the same as flash suppressor.  guess so..

Technically, as long as you aren't in possession of an AR lower receiver, it is perfectly legal to purchase that upper and have it shipped here.  You can swap out the flash hider for the muzzle brake(has to be pinned and welded on...something you might be able to do yourself-or not), and grind off the bayonet lug.

Not terribly difficult, I did mine myself in less than an hour.

  9. So what does this do for us in NJ? Can you setup your tent, then go back home and bring your pistol to the new residence? Do you need to apply for a change of address?

I know firearms are currently banned in the camping areas of our state forests.

    http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/camprules.html

Firearms — A person shall not possess or discharge any firearm, pellet gun, bow and arrow, slingshot or other weapon capable of injuring people or wildlife. Hunters in compliance with Division of Fish and Wildlife hunting laws are exempted. Target practice is prohibited.

  10. I'm speechless, that was an amazing track and some unbelievable racing. Bubba is such a **** though, I cant believe he didn't get back on and finish the race. Congrats to Reed, what a warrior.

If Stewart didn't hit that rut in the whoops which kicked his rear end out, he probably would have won.

Here is his post race update- he didn't finish it because the bars on the bike were bent.

  11. The so called legal ATV park is in Woodbine and you need a registered and insured ATV to ride there. The strange thing is that the NJDMV does not register ATV's...

They have the worst/shortest hours and only allow about 20 people a day ride there.

Makes about as much sense as the gun laws in this state.

  "20 people a day ride there..."

20 people haven't rode there since the place opened!  I go by it a few times every weekend and there has never been anyone there, other than a couple state rangers that just sit there with the truck idling, and a state forest employee sitting in a car playing on her phone all day.

These are things your tax dollars are paying for.

It's about a 1/2 mile complete deep sand course wide enough to drive a tractor trailer through.  There are some "bumps" that you might be able to jump, except the rules posted say no jumping, wheelies, or reckless riding.  I got in trouble the first day they opened, I wheelied down the start of the course(goes down hill a bit), and the next lap around the state forest lady was flagging me down and yelled at me for it.

I haven't gone back on the bike since.

  12. Bob has pointed (again) to all the right info. Notice one thing the court said in its decision:

"Undoubtedly, the statutory deadline was prompted by a desire to avoid dilatory consideration of the application. But the consequences of automatic approval of a permit at the expiration of the thirty day period would be visited on the public for whose protection the statute was enacted."

The court admitted the statute was written to prevent police authorities from taking their sweet time with approvals. And then obviates the statutes intent by presuming terrible consequences if they can't get approvals done on time. And then throws the whole requirement out, effectively saying 'OK take your sweet time'.

Dilatory consideration is what many of us are now subject to. This is not right and should be addressed.

And by the way, on December 9th my wife sent a letter to the Firearms Unit inquiring on the reason for the EXTRA delay (23 weeks on her permits as compared to a friend's delay of 12 on the same path), and as of today has received no acknowledgement or answer.

Send a letter to their "Office of Professional Standards".  This is the internal affairs department of NJSP.  Be sure to mention in the letter that you sent one to the Firearms Unit and never received a response. They(an investigator from internal affairs) will likely call you within a day or two of receiving your letter.

  13. Amazon is one step ahead.

They will use drones to deliver the packages and the drones will be armed with missiles.

However there is still the problem of getting the package off your lawn once the drone delivers it.

You will have to build a 10 ft chain link fence around your property.

I know it's stupid and silly but I remember talking about stupid and silly things 10 years ago and now they are reality.

Amazon drones will only be able to carry packages up to 5lbs, from what I've read. Everything else from 5+ to 70+ will still have to be taken by USPS, UPS, or Fedex.

  14. Wow just heard on the news that most of these car jackings happen between 3pm and mid-night. So, their solution to prevent them was that you should alter your behavior to do your shopping before 3pm to protect yourself. Is that what we have come down to in the People's Republic of NJ, we the honest citizens have to work around the schedules of criminals who all pack heat? Time to educate the masses that good guys carrying guns in this state will protect even those that choose not too.

What happens when criminals alter their "work" schedules to better fit our shopping schedules?
