  1. I find that hard to believe. I would carry full time. Heck I carry as soon as I get home and take it off and secure it before I go to bed. In other states most people I know who carry did it full time. They think nothing of it. It's just like carrying your wallet or keys or your purse. Even in states like Connecticut. When I'm in those states I carry full time all the time. I do respect signs by not going to gun ban places.
  2. On a side note - I'm not saying he isn't qualified, but here is the qualification if anyone is interested. It's really not that hard. I've done the pistol one a few times to practice (pre-Drake). I have a friend who is a retired CO (EJSP) and he said the qual isn't that hard either. People who do things like IDPA and 3 gun do way more than that. http://www.state.nj.us/lps/dcj/pdfs/dcj-firearms.pdf
  3. What do you say when the state has told private individuals who are facing danger in the course of their work or running a business that they should find another job or hire a bodyguard? What about the guy who drives around with on average $20k cash from customers? How about the guy that services ATMs and carries up to $75k cash on him? The state (via judges and county prosecutors) has also said that they can get another job and they can change the way they do business so that they aren't in danger. This is bigger than just a select few getting the right to carry. This is about the state's disregard for anyone other than agents of the state. The police and corrections officers need a firearm to protect themselves. Everyone else can just go to hell, because we're afraid of people mishandling their firearms (no police officer ever has had a negligent discharge, ever!) Yes, I think COs should be able to carry. I think the above people I mentioned should too. I think I should be able to carry as well. No, I don't think anyone should be special or prioritized over any other.
  4. This +1000 What the heck is wrong with you people? Are you HAPPY that NJ doesn't respect your rights? Yes, some people might treat the gun like a fashion accessory. Others may carry out of necessity. Some may get the permit, tuck it in the wallet and forget about it... but does that mean that it's no big deal that we don't have the right?
  5. My god... "The test." Nobody's hating on anyone except the state and it's dumb laws.
  6. "It's a law" is like saying that the sky is blue "because it's blue."
  7. Looks like it's AZ non-resident... they may accept an online course. I know Virginia does (or did) as well.
  8. I actually don't mind that they get to carry, but I don't understand why the state would grant them the right to carry and not people who also face similar danger.
  9. I never got why COs in NJ get the right to carry (yes, I know they are sworn LEOs with powers). Most states do not give COs off duty powers that NJ does. NJ USED to only allow carry for prisoner transport, and changed that sometime so they have off duty carry all the time. Yes, I know you can run into a violent ex-inmate. But ordinary citizens running a business who were similarly threatened by their customers are told to change jobs or hire a security guard.
  10. Gura and SAF does absolutely want it in SCOTUS. But at this time they want to not appear to be obstructionist so DC can't cop out. They have to at least appear cooperative. Give them their stay. It's only 90 days. The other thing is that this sets a nice trap - the stay will be up very close to elections. The last thing DC and the federal Gov't wants is gun control as their October surprise. It will be 1994 all over again. Also, any DC law needs to sit for 30 days for Congress to review it. So in reality they have 60 days to craft a law.
  11. Bull pucky. They had four whole years. Train instructors? All they need to do is accept an NRA course... if they want to be strict, accept a specific course like basic pistol (like what Connecticut does). Hire personnel? USe the same ones who handle the registration. In fact, just make the registration certificate a carry permit, if someone submits a training certificate with it. Bottom line - no need to throw up roadblocks when there shouldn't be any.
  12. My guess (and just a guess) is that he wants to at least appear to be fair. He did say that he would be open to a short stay, but not 180+30 days like Moore v Madigan (illinois)
  13. They are talking about it quite a lot in Maryland and Virginia. I'm on the MDShooters forum and they have a good few threads going.
  14. Official now: http://mpdc.dc.gov/release/possession-firearms-district But this doesn't comport with the ruling. However, 99% of people who want to legally carry (and don't have issues like felony convictions) should be able to do so.
  15. No. The scenarios are just that, scenarios. The real "meat" of this is that they're going to stop enforcing the carry ban. They will keep enforcing the registration requirement for residents and they are enforcing the 10 round limit and other stuff such as AWB. But if you're going to DC, you're good. Just avoid Maryland which is still off limits.
  16. For all the doubters: http://alangura.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/07-137-14.pdf
  17. A3788 hides data about all gun permits including FIDs. It still allows aggregated stats though.
  18. I want large numbers as well. We could have a few locations, North, Central and South. We could have a free or low cost (with proceeds to fund litigation) clinic where we get our apps together.
  19. I think we should ALL do that. We should also have a qualification party at a local range. i am with you. Who else is with me?
  20. There is nothing about non resident permits. It is constitutional carry for residents and non-residents alike. if you aren't a prohibited person, you can carry. Full. Stop. DC residents can only carry legally registered guns. But everyone else can carry their legal guns from out of state. This is what would have happened in Illinois if the legislature did not make the deadline to pass the FCCA.
  21. It really doesn't matter. Starting on Saturday, anyone with a legal gun in DC can carry. Full. Stop. You do have to obey other laws such as the 10 round limit. But Lanier also stated that there is no registration requirement for non-residents. Remember, LE could have already carried in DC under LEOSA. Do you think all of them registered their guns with DC? I don't think so!
  22. The DC police chief disagrees. From Emily Miller: "Per DC Police Chief Lanier, the only gun arrests allowed now are DC residents with unregistered guns and non-residents who are prohibited under federal laws from possessing firearms. Everyone else is in the clear." Emily is a reliable source, and this is from the MPDC chief Lanier. https://www.facebook.com/EmilyMillerDC/posts/772351989490379?fref=nf
