It's too early for this "sort of [federal] law" to work anywhere but in a handful of states. You may indeed see shootouts in states with ingrained gun cultures. Most New Jersey gun owners would prefer turning 'em in to engaging in a shootout with the cops, which is essentially suicide. I'd rather divorce my wife and buy a shack in the Pokies than commit suicide.
Sure, that's why my wild guess is a few dozens shootouts, which is less then 1/100 of 1% of the NJ gun owners. Majority, a vast majority are not going to commit suicide by cop.
The point is, that confiscation in any state, even in NJ, is not politically possible until the population in all (almost all) states is brainwashed enough.

A few years back had the IRS take thousand from me because of my EX-WIFE, at the time we were divorced 12 years. After a year had a hearing and I was told we'll we know where you were Still never got my money back because they refuse to discuss her liabilities. Catch 22 when dealing with the government and they will do anything they want.
Sorry for your IRS troubles.
Back to my two points.
1. Supreme Court. With Hillary, we loose for sure. With Trump, I believe we'll win. There could be a compromise like this: "I'll appoint a moderate after you confirm two conservatives". I'm OK with that.
2. This sort of law can't be enforced state by state, it'll make things worse for the "confiscators". Let's imagine they start confiscation from NJ because they know where the legal owners are. There is about 1M gun owners, and for sure there will be at least a few dozens shootouts with some gun owners like you and some LEOs killed. It will be impossible to hide it from the public, and it will lead do discussion "how many lives we're willing to sacrifice to get rid of legal guns". Not helpful for further implementation.

I have compromised my values by voting lesser of two evils long enough now. No More, sorry,
...
NJ with their permit process knows where all the legal gun are.
1. Two words for you: Supreme Court.
2. Yes, they can do it here, but confiscation doesn't make sense if it is limited to NJ and a few other states. What can they do about Vermont, for example?
-
Choosing beteen Trump and Hillary? My criteria:
1. Supreme Court. Apparently there is no comparison.
2. South border invasion. See above.
3. Muslim invasion. See above.
4. Second Amendment. HRC didn't even hide that she is for confiscation. So, I don't understand how any voter who cares about the next generation can vote for HRC or a stay away from voting for Trump.

At the range last night I did "fondle" a kimber commander size 1911 and it was appealing.....
Speaking of Kimber... If I ever get one, it will be most likely Kimber Aegis. Maybe it works for you too.

Sometimes it feels good to be wrong
Still, i like that old picture.

Came upon this photo by chance. Just must share it:

I like my Baby Eagle, that is a CZ75 clone, all metal.
Also you can consider Beretta 92FS / M9, give it a try.

First, welcome to the forums!
Second - stay away from NJ if possible. In PA, you can keep all you firearms and have a CCW, which is not valid in NJ anyway.

I can't wait to hear the excuses why the other candidate, who you all think has no chance of becoming the nominee, actually becomes the republican nominee.
If you mean me, I can name a dozen who can become a Republican nominee. When I say that Cruz and Kasich have no chances, I mean the general elections of course.
-
Just curious because I never get a straight answer from a Trump supporter. Nearly every poll shows him losing to Hillary so why do you think he will beat her not even taking into consideration that many of the 35% he has now are Hillary supporters and are voting for Trump because he is the easiest to beat?
Trump has never ever been pro 2nd amendment until he decided to run for POTUS, in fact he is on record being in favor of the assault weapons ban any search will show this pretty easily.
One more if he is so strong on illegals why did he hire them and why does he still hire immigrants when there are qualified Americans in his hotels?
1. First, the general elections match-up polls are meaningless at this time. Second, I never said that Trump will beat Hillary - I said he can. Unlike Cruz and Kasich who have no chances. Hillary doesn't generate enthusiasm. Trump is going to get support of most Republicans, including those who're now in the NeverTrump camp, plus most of Independents, plus a noticeable number of Democrats, especially Sanders supporters who are sick of Hillary. The theory that "Hillary supporters and are voting for Trump..." - never heard of it. If it was true, I'd hear this from the Cruz team non-stop.
2. You can find a lot of things "on the record". For example, Hillary was against gay marriage. Trump abandoned his support for AWB long ago.
3. I have no idea whom he hires, but in your statement you mix "illegals" and "immigrants", which is not the same.
Thanks for not calling me "Trumpbot" . It took me some effort to decide, and I don't see if we have a choice anyway.

The police detective from whom I got the card advised to laminate it. I've done it in Staples.

Trump can win the general elections. Cruz and Kasich cannot. That all that matters.
(Yes, Trump is not a conservative, but he is right on the most important issues - illegal invasion and Islam. And, he is pro-2A.) -
From my Orlando business trip experience last summer - I"m not going to survive FL climate.

I got my current job through a recruiter. They were contacting me all the time on LinkedIn, and eventually I got an offer "I couldn't refuse".
Recruiter works for company, and he is compensated based on how high he can sell you. So it is in his interest to set up the right price.
If a recruiter asks for any $ from a job seeker - get away from him.

One can only hope.
This is the reaction to the death of the Justice Scalia. Sad...
-
...
If a republican nominates I'd like to see Chief Justice Rand Paul
...
If a Republican is a president - Justice Ted Cruz. Unless he is the POTUS himself.
-
Obama will nominate himself and let Uncle Joe serve out the rest of his term.
....joke
Interesting idea. So, the Uncle Joe can run as incumbent?
-
It's doubtful that he will be replaced before the next POTUS election, so there is a bit of a stay on that. His absence does leave one less constitutional juror during the interim though.
We'll see if the Rs in Senate have the guts to block nomination. But it have to last until Jan 20, 2017, not just the election.

It is a catastrophe... I don't trust the Senate

I've contacted the NRA ILA before complaining about NJ's ridiculous concealed carry laws. All they did was offer to give me names of lawyers to contact. The best way to change NJ is to vote the Dems out of the legislature, but good luck doing that.

Hmm... I remember that Christie said that he needed republican legislature to fix our gun laws. Interestingly, on the last debate, January 28th, he said something like "in the executive role, you don't complain about the legislature, just get things done". That means he doesn't get the things done only because he doesn't want to.
(Not that there is anything new for us here...)

My estimate is we got about 25 to 30 inches. Took 2 hours yesterday around noon, and almost three hours today in the morning - my son, myself, and occasional help from my wife.
i really hope it's a last one this season. -
Bergen county - about a foot when I shoveled from 11 am to 1 pm. Looks like another foot since than, to be seen on Sunday morning.
Moving to NJ. Shipping my collection to myself?

If I got it right, you can legally keep your firearms (handguns included) when you move to NJ from another state. Guns must be legal in NJ. Registration is not necessary.
FID is not necessary either, but you need it to buy ammo anyway.
