  1. Number two happens very often. A friend of mine wisely got rid of all his hunting rifles while he was in the divorce process. His wife pulled the number two on him and said he threatened her with a rifle. When the cops showed up they demanded the firearms as she claimed he had just threatened her with a rifle before they arrived. Imagine her surprise when he produced documents that he had sold his rifles three weeks prior to her call and there was no rifle in the house while she claimed he had pointed it at her.
  2. This is why I don't talk to my neighbors, I don't live next to them to be friends. As a matter of fact the less I talk to them or see them the better. It's simply good morning or good evening. Other than that zip...
  3. I don't know if a judge would issue a search warrant based on a P2P record. More realistically what would happen is the folks that would get caught would be: 1. Those that have no idea what is going on and travel to and from the range with 15 round magazines once the capacity is lowered to ten rounds. 2. Those caught in the middle of a domestic dispute whereby a spouse calls the police stating that the other spouse acted in a threatening way and upon removal of the spouses firearms the police find 15 round magazines. 3. Couple in a messy divorce where by (usually the wife) makes accusations about the husband stating that he threatened her and the cops find 15 round magazines while removing his firearms. 4. Couples locked in a nasty custody battle. 5. Neighbors that don't like you and know you own firearms calling the cops on you stating that you threatened them.
  4. I'm not sure if I agree 100% with you JohnnyB. On one hand, yes your statement makes sense. ON the other hand why would they even move a bill out of committee that would possible give Christie bragging rights on the national stage? My take is that this had to do with money and nothing else.
  5. Our only problem is ourselves. No matter what very few pro-2a folks vote. In theory, yes your idea would work. However, due to laziness and excuses our side constantly shoots itself in the foot.
  6. I have to agree with Respect2A. In a crisis situation I'd rather have piles of food, water shoes, socks and soap than gold or silver. I don't know how regular one will be after eating their gold and silver.
  7. Folks for what it is worth do not letup on contacting NJ's Senators and CC's office (but please contact CC's office in a respectful manner). The mere fact that S993 was removed from the hearing makes me smell a rat. It's extremely important that we continue our pressure until the end not matter what the outcome.
  8. Maybe the Woodland Park members can petition Anthony to add that perk.
  9. Woodland Park is a great range and Anthony and his staff are top notch people. If I had the cash to join I would have been one of the first to sign up. Freaking money...I need more of it. By the way, I hear Anthony is adding an extra perk to all membership levels. Whenever a member purchases a gun he will bless the gun with a prayer and a sprinkle of water from the Passaic River. Just kidding...
  10. Thanks to everyone...Any opinions on the Ruger SR1911?
  11. Ok folks, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the 1911. I like the look of it as well as the weight and the fact that it is all metal. Before I make the investment I'd like opinions on the reliability and durability of the R1 1911. Can some members chime in and let me know how reliable and durable the R1's are?
  12. All valid points. I may go the 1911 route
  13. Oh, I forgot to mention that one of my reasons behind getting another GP100 is that this way I only have to purchase one type of handgun ammo rather than say 357/38 Special and 9mm. I'm also going to start reloading in the near future so this would keep the die kit cost to a minimum as well. I would be reloading 30-06, 223 and 357/38 spacial.

    GP100

I picked up my SS GP100 with a 4" barrel yesterday. I like the feel of it so much that I am truly considering purchasing a second GP100, perhaps the blued version as I have another P2P waiting on the OGAM rule. Am I nuts? I was considering a semi auto but to be honest I'm just not into semi autos. As silly as it sounds I very much believe in the two is one and one is none rule. So lets take a poll....
  15. They are doing all of this to simply try and get rid of every possible firearm from the state of NJ.
  16. mipafox, I've had many time where I have had to run my generator continuously for a week as my french drains were emptying into the pit and the pump was draining the pit every few minutes. So running a generator for an hour about six times per day for an hour would have flooded my basement.
  17. It's gas fired. Before I purchased a generator I ran it off a UPS for about a week. However, I'm trying to come up with an alternative means in the event that I am out of gasoline, the generator is dead and the UPS has been used up and discharged. The wood stove is probably the best alternative.
  18. Steam and it works great. If I loose power I can run the electronics on my steam furnace with a generator. But...during an extended outage I may run out of gasoline thus no more power from the generator.
  19. Would they last for at least 30 days on a continues cycle? The goal is for us to figure out how to manage the water going tinto the sump pit without the use of battery backup or water powered pumps. It's not easy is it?
  20. I just thought about a wood burning stove as well. I could put one on the basement and one in the living room. The basement would be good because it is wide open so on large wood stove would warm the whole basement and the radiant heat would slowly rise to the main floor.
  21. Thanks for the info Heavyopp, I didn't know that about kerosene heaters.
  22. The one thing in my area that many homes have in common are sump pits. To me this is one of the major Achilles heel that most homeowners do not thing about until the power fails and the battery on their emergency sump pump dies or the generator stops working. With that said I'm trying to come up with some ideas on how to manage the water filling the sump pit when the power is out and there is no alternative power source. There are emergency sump pumps that use municipal water to pull the water put of the sump, but lets assume that the municipal water provider has lost water pressure or that municipal water has been disrupted so these water powered sump pumps will not be useful. Using a bucket to empty the pit is not a realistic alternative as first it is fatiguing and as humans we all need sleep. Third during a long power outage most people will still need to leave their homes for sometime be it to go to work (if they can) or whatever other reason. So our goal is to come up with some sort of passive system to channel the water in the sump pit out of the pit without it overflowing and flooding a basement.
  23. I thought about perhaps using the kerosene heater(s) available for only temporary use such as heating the bathroom when in use. That would at least minimize the kerosene use time. What about perhaps a woodstove for the living room? The fireplace is too inefficient.
  24. I'm trying to come up with an alternative heating source for my home in the event that my gasoline generator breaks down or there is no gasoline available to run it. We would not have to heat all rooms at the same time. Perhaps the living room as we can sleep there and the bathroom during showers. My living room has a fireplace but most of the heat would escape out the chimney so that isn't practice. I have thought about perhaps two portable indoor kerosene heaters? Any opinions and advice on this or other alternative heating sources that would be used for 15-30 days?
