  1. I'm considering picking up an HK USC 45 in the near future. In stock form, it doesn't really do a whole lot for me, but the UMP conversion is enticing. I don't think it's a very practical purchase, but I like the uniqueness and I've wanted to add a pistol caliber carbine to my collection. Anyway, my question is if anyone here owns a UMP conversion and if so, where did you have the conversion and compliance work done? I'd rather give a local gunsmith the business if they're experienced with the conversion, rather than send it across the country. I'd need to have the USC receiver milled out a bit to accept UMP magazines, the UMP stock pinned, and magazines blocked, while maintaining 922r compliance. I'm hoping someone in NJ is familiar with and willing to handle the work.
  2. I'd really like to buy a UTS-15 but I'm also leary of the stories about it not cycling reliably. I've heard the current 4th-gen versions are more reliable, but I haven't been convinced enough to get one. I'm still waiting to see if they're able to get the issues sorted out, if they haven't already.
  3. The Viridian C5L (green) and C5L-R (red) compact laser/light combos are both priced the lowest I've seen them on Amazon. C5L is $199.99 http://www.amazon.com/Viridian-C5L-Sub-Compact-Green-Laser/dp/B003UHZHEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385942767&sr=8-1&keywords=c5l C5L-R is $109.99 http://www.amazon.com/Viridian-C5L-R-Universal-Sub-Compact-Laser/dp/B00AU6E9HO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1385942767&sr=8-2&keywords=c5l I just picked up the C5L-R because I don't intend on using it in the daylight and I don't like the idea of a bad guy potentially being able to trace the laser back to me in the dark if I ever needed to use it for home defense.

    Xdm .40?

A buddy of mine recently bought one online and had it shipped to Brick Armory who had the mags pinned for him. I think it was $25 per magazine though.
  5. Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!
  6. Hi all, I'm pretty much brand new to the sport (what a time to start...) and just signed up here at NJGF. I've only been to the range a couple of times with a buddy and his father, but I was immediately hooked and applied for an FID a few years ago. For whatever reasons I never purchased anything with it. In light of recent events, I decided it was time to make some purchases before any crazy legislation has the chance to pass through Congress. In the past few weeks I've joined the NRA, NJ2AS, and GOA, and I purchased my first gun, a Colt MT6400 rifle. As soon as I can find some 5.56 magazines and ammo at a reasonable price, I'll be joining a range (most likely CJRPC) and taking a beginner's class or two. I'm also planning to submit an application for a few handgun permits later this week, but who knows when I'll have those permits in-hand. I'm looking forward to learning and can't wait to get to the range with my new rifle. Maybe I'll see a few of you out there. -Mike
