If it was the SKS (Lot 484), the fixed magazine installed looks like a 20 rounder.
Standard 10-rounder:

No. More profit in .357 revolvers.

.22 Rimfire and .223 can be used for some other game (Coyote, Fox, Woodchuck) - the rules are very strict and precise.
.223's not a great caliber for Deer anyway.
Another thing to remember (in NJ) - If you are hunting with slugs, your shotgun MUST have rifle-type sights installed. Just a bead at the muzzle (standard shotgun configuration) is not legal for slug hunting. You can just go with the bead at the muzzle for buckshot.
It sounds like you're coming in with hunting experience from another state. New Jersey hunting is a little different. You REALLY need to read the 2020 Hunting and Trapping digest - it covers all of these topics. You can find it in most places that sell hunting licenses, or read it on-line here: https://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/2020/dighnt20.pdf

I was born in NJ, too, as well as have many family and friends still there.
I left a year ago, and I'm much happier in the Poconos. Don't move back to NJ.

If that's the case..........so WHY are you heading for New Germany?

Many of the hunting preserves in NJ - such as the one CNJFO is hosting a Pheasant hunt on Saturday, February 6th at Giberson's Farm and WIldlife Preserve in Pemberton NJ - want nothing bigger than #6 pellets.
Go to https://www.cnjfo.com/event-4052517 for more information
I've hunted there several times - always a blast!

Complacency kills....but a gun shouldn't go off if dropped, either.

I thought *I* was the fudd this past weekend!
For the "holster sniffers" of the board; pictured is a S&W Model 10-6, loaded with SIG 125 gr Elite Performance +P, in an ambidextrous Blackhawk Sportster (left handed holsters can be SO hard to find!)

Yup. He wanted it bad, but the North Jersey contingent wanted Murph as guv to push him onto the national stage. Murph has failed miserably, so their current hope is for a Biden win and a cabinet position for Murph; which clears the way for Sweeney in 21.

Unfortunately that's not a sustainable business model. In the current market, your LGS will be unable to replenish stock anywhere near that price.

"Best" inexpensive, all-around/do-anything shotgun:
Maverick 88 Combo. Basically it's a no-frills Mossberg 500 made in Texas; many parts, especially barrels, interchange with the mossy 500. Biggest difference is location of the safety (trigger guard vs tang on the 500). With this you can hunt almost anything, shoot trap/skeet/sporting clays, and have it ready to repel boarders.
"Detailed Description: A Winning Combo for Hunting and Home Defense at an Affordable Price Point
Reliability and versatility at and affordable price, the Mossberg Maverick 88 Field and Security Combo gives you peace of mind and a sporting gun in the same package. The Mav88 is the perfect choice for a personal home defense shotgun with light weight compact maneuverability. It's also ideal in the field with a quick swing on target. This combo is chambered to handle 3" 12 gauge shells with an 18.5" home defense barrel and a 28" field barrel. The receiver design features positive steel to steel bolt lock-up, dual extractors and an anti-jam elevator. Combine this with dual action bars for smooth operation and flawless performance. Get the Maverick 88 Combo and have the best of both worlds with a pump shotgun that's ready for anything! "- 1

They should tell NJ to go crap in their hat. I'd hope a free state would never allow their citizens to be extradited to a scumhole like NJ.
Grewal and Co want to ruin them for their political gain. Simpler for them to cut n run...

22LR vs 9mm pistol

I used to similarly caution Boy Scouts when shifting from a .22 rifle....to a 20 or 12 gauge shotgun. Those were the two merit badges they worked on during summer camp, and the recoil is significantly different. Without proper preparation, they are going to hurt themselves.
