  1. Let me know how you like it. I've got about 500 rounds through mine. Not a single problem on Federal bulk ammo. Now I'm just waiting for some aftermarket grips and I'll be all set.
  2. Well, I took it to the range and put 200 rounds of mini-mags through it. Not a single hiccup. I'm very happy with it. I'll have to try out some cheap bulk ammo next time.
  3. I wound up buying the Victory. The SR22 just felt too small. I liked the Mark III, but wasn't a fan of the 22/45. I also liked the Buckmark, but so did my wife and that's what she decided to buy. The Victory just felt the best in my hand. I was hoping to bring it home tonight, but NICS was too backed up so I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Can't wait to get it to the range.
  4. Thanks what I'm thinking. Just wondering if it will fit my needs, or if I would be better off with a dedicated 22lr. How new shooter/kid friendly is the P226 in 22lr? IE grip size, recoil, accuracy, etc?
  5. I just bought a Sig P320 and I'm very happy with it. The only problem is now I have a couple of extra permits and I don't know what to use them on. I had been thinking about getting a dedicated 22lr (Ruger SR22, Mark III, Browning Buckmark, or the new S&W Victory), but now I'm wondering if I should get a Sig P226 Classic (22lr) instead. I was hoping to be able to get a 22lr conversion for my P320 at some point, but that looks to be a couple years out from Sig, if at all. My main interest in .22lr is cheaper plinking, focus on basics/training, and to have something that is new shooter/kid friendly. What would you do in my position? My only other handgun is a Ruger 9mm that I'm probably going to wind up selling. If money was no object, I'd pick up all of the above. Sadly, I'll probably only be able to afford 1, maybe 2, more handguns in the next year or so.
  6. So what do you guys think... If you could only have one .22 pistol and had to choose between a Mark III, Buckmark, or the new Victory, which would you get and why? Or would you get something else (eg. SR22, M&P22, etc.)?
  7. Thanks for the input. I had seen 22plinkster's review. It seems like Smith sent him the gun to evaluate early on. Are they a sponsor of his? I was wondering if his review might have been influenced by that. Any chance he was more inclined to give a positive review for any reasons? His review is really the only decent one on YouTube at the moment.
  8. Anyone have any experience with this yet? I held one at my LGS the other day and really liked it. I have about a week until my OGAM is up, and I'm thinking about picking this up. What are your thoughts on this compared to the Browning Buckmark and/or Ruger Mark series? I don't own any of them yet and am trying to decide which route to go. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category1_750001_750051_804153_-1_757752_757751
  9. I just like having the option. Even if I never do the conversion, I'll be very happy with the 9mm. Did you read the thread?
  10. Just placed the order for the Sig P320. Thanks for all the help. It's exactly what I was looking for.
  11. I'm thinking this might be it. Just need to save up a little more. Which model do you have? This one seems to be $100-$150 less than the others. Any feedback on this model? https://shar.es/16pGkm
  12. That's just it, I don't LOVE the 9mm I have. It's functional and dependable, but I bought it online without ever having held it. It was my first purchase and I've learned a lot since then. I don't need to have something that can convert, but like you said, if I could find a better 9mm and at the same time the option for some variety, that's the route I want to go. I spent some time at my LGS this afternoon and held a bunch of guns. I'm still not in love with the glocks. I liked the VP9, XDm and XD mod 2. I initially liked the feel of the M&P, but the trigger felt awful (very gritty). I loved the Sig P320, but its a little more than I wanted to spend. They also had a used 2022 that felt good. Maybe I'll just wait until I can see the new Ruger. I don't know, too many choices and no clear answer.
  13. Yeah, I'm most interested in converting from .45 to 9mm or from .40 to 9mm. Like I said, I'll mostly be shooting 9mm, but if I could shoot .45 or .40 every once in a while, that would certainly be plus. And since most conversions I've seen allow you to go down, not up, in caliber, I'd need to buy the gun in the larger caliber and convert down to 9mm.
  14. By the way, love your signature. I lived in Essex Co. and applied for my FID and first permits right after Sandy. I didn't think I was EVER going to get them.
  15. As a point of clarification, I'm not sold on Glock. I was just usingit as an example of a cheaper conversion option. I was originally thinking about getting a Witness, but the conversion costs as much as a new gun. Thoughts on conversions in general? I'll probably shoot 9mm the most, but lime I said, if I could add another caliber for not much more $$, I want to seriously consider that option.
  16. The Glock 23 to 9mm conversion is relatively easy (just a replacement barrel). Converting a Glock in .45 (like the G21) requires a new upper.
  17. I've got some new permits coming in a week or two and I can't decide what I want to buy. I have a Ruger P95 (9mm) that I bought a few years back. Its my first and only handgun, and I bought it primarily because of its low price and reliability. Funds are a little more plentiful now, but certainly not unlimited, and I'm having a very hard time figuring out what to buy next. My budget is $500-$600. I've tossed around the idea of a Glock 19, or a 23 with a Lone Wolf conversion barrel. I have lots of 9mm on hand, but I think I'd like to expand into a larger caliber as well. I really like the idea of having the flexibility of various calibers, but I don't know how practical that is in reality. The primary purpose will be as a range gun and for home defense. Not looking for something I can CCW or for competitions, etc. At some point I'd like to get a 1911 and .357 revolver, but I was thinking of those a little further down the line. I'm also considering a .22lr handgun (like the Ruger SR22) to practice with and for plinking. Any suggestions? Would it be better to get a G19 or a G23 with a conversion barrel? Or is there something else I should be looking at and am overlooking? Is it practical to be thinking about multiple calipers in one gun, or should I get that idea out of my head?
  18. Thanks. I'm now starting to rethink this idea. I already have a 9mm and a lot of 9mm ammo, but was also thinking about branching out into a larger caliber. The idea of getting a .45, 9mm, and .22lr for $800 was appealing, but it looks like it will run more like $1,100. I've got 3 permits coming an another week or so, and I still haven't decided what to get.
  19. I'm planning on buying the EAA Witness .45acp/.22lr Combo as soon as my next set of permits comes in (hopefully from a vendor here, but here's the link to it on Bud's: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/200214/EAA+999119+Witness+Combo+10%2B1+45ACP22LR+4.5%22). Here's my question: I'd like to get a 9mm conversion for it as well, but I haven't been able to find one at a decent price. EAA is selling them for over $500, and at that price I might as well just buy another one in 9mm. Does anyone know of an affordable 9mm conversion that will fit this gun? Thanks in advance.
  20. I'll be going to Palmerton with my son Oct 24-25. Looking forward to it!
  21. Yeah, that's really what I meant. In stock and a decent price.
  22. Ah, that makes sense. Unfortunately Midway is sold out too.
  23. Sorry, I meant the spam cans at a decent price. They used to be $100, now they're almost $200. Most places are out of stock and have been for the past month or so.
  24. What's going on with this ammo? I admit it's been a while since I purchased, but why is it so hard to find these days? Is the surplus starting to dry up?
