Knife= Lunch box fruit slicing, box cutting

Taser= Wild Dogs, or other dangerous wildlife, Bears, coyotes, squirrels and Bunnies.

You missed the point completely.  If the ONLY reason you give a cop for possessing a knife is self defense, you are boned.  I almost always carry a knife, but i'm not a moron who would tell a cop that the reason I carry a knife is for self defense.  I actually have many legitimate uses for the knife I carry (from cuttting cardboard boxes to  fudge brownies) and use it every day.

A Taser has just one single function. There is no sporting or utility purpose for a taser.

The post DirtyDigz made is encouraging, but until it is writing, signed and stamped with the state seal, the area is too gray for my comfort level.  I am not trying to talk people out of being able to defend themselves, in fact, if it is clearly legal to carry a taser, I would be the first to promote the use of them.  What I don't want to see is a bunch of good people getting caught up in our ridiculous legal system that is set up as a snare to entrap law abiding citizens.

Since when is self defense not lawful?

Self defense is not unlawful in NJ.  Carrying a weapon specifically for the purpose of self defense is.   The restrictions are so tight here that we are only allowed to carry a small canister of pepper spray and a whistle..  This is a state where daisy red rider BB guns require a FID to purchase and if you want to buy a .177cal target air pistol you have to go through exactly the same process as if you were buying a 44magnum.

That’s how I have begun to understand it as well.

Let's say you get stopped by a cop, and you have a pocket knife on you. And the cop asks you for what lawful purpose do you have this knife, and your reply is for self-defense. You'll be taking a trip to the police station. There is really only one lawful purpose to carry a taser. It's reasonable and it's rational however that is not how the state of New Jersey will likely see it. One of the problems we have here is that what is not expressly denied is not tacitly implied to be permitted.

$192 shipped from Geissele with the current 20% off sale , next month they will probably be $168 like they were for last year's Black Friday sale.

Ya, I got a good deal on a G2S last year on black friday for .... I dunno, I think I paid $115.00 for it and got some swag stickers or some other bs.  I'll probably wait for the sale.

  5. Basically, the SSA is a semi auto version of a milspec select fire trigger.  The G2S is made from the same steel as the SSA but is mechanically different.

The Geissele 2 Stage (G2S) was designed to be a high quality, cost effective option of the SSA. The G2S is a 4.5lb. non-adjustable combat trigger that is a precision two-stage trigger and allows precise and accurate trigger control. The G2S is manufactured from the same tool steel as the SSA. Visually, from the outside of the weapon there is no difference from the SSA and the feel and reliability is the same. The G2S however has a different way of holding the hammer pin in place, there is no laser markings, and the parts are only spot checked for MP.

EDIT:  PSA has the SSA-E on sale for $180, that's 60 off the normal price everywhere.  I'm going to get one.

  6. I put the G2S in my SPR. It is a vast improvement over polished NiB single stage. But.... It still has flaws. I'm not saying it's a terrible trigger, it really helped me get my groups tighter. I can get .3moa out of it, but it's a struggle.  It does not break as cleanly as I'd like and the second stage is about a pound too heavy.

If you are actively searching, and if they still have any left in stock, you can get the aero precision M5E1 (northern lights) builder set for $450. It's  on sale for $499 plus 10% off for new buyers, coupon code SAVE10NOW

I think I'm going to get the PSA upper and lower set.  It's the same as DPMS pattern with one exception.  one of the take down pins is fatter or something.  Not a big deal. Everything else is DPMS  or AR-15. PSA PA-10 lower is only $80.00

That's not what I said at all, in fact that's not even close to what I said.

Step 1 wait till they are about 5 feet away or less to ensure a hit and pull the trigger.

Step 2 keep pulling the trigger and hope the battery doesn't die. When the battery dies he's going to get up and beat the shit out of you.

Step 3 hope someone calls the cops so they can come and save your sorry ass. Don't expect any of the people standing around filming to help you at all.

Step 4 (if you're still alive) go through all the court bullshit, get sued by the scumbag, give him alot of your money and spend some time in jail.

Step 5 spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder for the guy you tased because chances are he's going to track you down and kill you.

It's exactly what you said.  btw, getting all uppity and calling me some ridiculous thing like a democrat news anchor, weak "brah"

Sooooo.  basically you are saying, do nothing.  Let the BG kill you, rape your wife, steal your car, molest your children because he/she may try to hit you and afterwords you may end up in court and have to worry about charles manson tracking you down.  Hmmm    Well, if you can't run, that only leaves defense or acquiescence.  Since you are not too keen on defense, then I guess, what, just take it then?

This has lots of not quite correct info in it and one blatantly false presumption. I’m leaving for work now but I’ll explain more later.

What are you talking about.  I watched a youtube video, I'm an expert now..  Yeah, The first video I watched didn't make it clear that both probes are shot out at the same time.  Made it seem like it was a two shot proposition.

Interesting thing I learned.  When you shoot the taser, confetti comes out.  The confetti is stamped with a cartridge ID so LE can track who pulled the trigger.

Here's another youtube vid, more informative than the first one I watched.  Lots of slo-mo action.

So how do these things work? If you are lucky enough to hit the bad guy with the tazer? Do you shock them then run like hell?

95% of the time, when you just unholster it, the BG runs away.  If that doesn't work, then you point and shoot.  Both barbed probes shoot out at the same time, the top probe will go where the laser light is, the bottom probe will hit lower.  It delivers a 30 second impulse.  After the initial impulse, you can pull the trigger again and deliver a longer continuous pulse.

after the pods have been shot, the "barrel" can still be used like a hand held stun gun.

Word of caution with short barreled weapons - it’s easy get your hand in front of the muzzle. Especially on a weapon that has a manual action that works like pump shotgun. The strap is there for a very good reason, I wouldn’t cut it off. If you have the Remington version, do yourself a favor and get a hand stop.

I was thinking if I got a Shockwave that I'd replace the strap with a hand stop.  Overall, I like the Shockwave more than the Remmy but I think Remington was smart to go with a Magpul fore end.

So like.. Do I have to keep the shockwave stock, or can I put Magpul stock on it..

The Shockwave  does not have a stock, it has a grip.  The moment you put a stock on it, it becomes a sawed off shotgun.  It is only through the special design of the grip that this thing is somehow legal.
