  1. Love it. I am still working on completing my Hungarian handguns. Staying away from German for now. I love all the old guns from 1900ish on up. I am amazed at the machining and workmanship.
  2. Ill check it out. Still waiting on the Buena PD to get there act together with my permits. Never would have guessed my little farm town to be such an issue. I will likely run any new CZ stock for some time. I have several heavy modified handguns to choose from already. I do all my own work when its time. Machinist for 22 years. Built several rifles and handguns from frame/receiver up.
  3. The accu-shadow that you guys suggested sounds perfect. Unfortunately CZ discontinued it.
  4. Based upon what you guys are telling me I may go with the SP01 in black. http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-sp-01-9mm-black-3-dot-tritium-sights-18-rd-mags/
  5. I have some permits coming to burn up up. 1st one is used for a FEG 37M. Have 2 more to go. My son has a CZ75-P01 that I find very impressive. I think I want one of the full size 75s. I dont want to go over $1000 if I can help it. LGS has a 75 that he calls Police model with decocker only. I think this is actually a CZ75BD. I dont need night sights but I wouldnt mind them. I should mention that this isnt anything more than a range toy with some light club level competition as most of my handguns are. Mostly want one because I dont have a CZ and I felt its was a very smooth, accurate and easy to shoot platform.
  6. That is a scary article. It wasnt clear to me. Has it been passed and become active or was it merely a proposal? What I want to do is the equivalent of mounting a scope. Every gunshop I know of drills and taps rifles for scope mounts. That defines them as "in the business" of gunsmithing. As I read the article that subjects them to ITAR ruling. I wonder how many know about this.
  7. The short reply to this is YES, as a full service machine shop CAD/CAM/CNC engineering, welding, manual machining there really isnt any part that we cant make. The devil is in the cost/time. That receiver may only have $25 in raw material. But due to engineering, machine setup, sub contracting the EDM if needed there may be 200 hours to make one, might only be 210 hours to make 50. So, the first one $20025.00 and lot of 50pcs $425.00 each. These are not actual numbers, just an example. Hope you get the idea. Whenever I look at guns I can believe they are able to sell them at the price they do and make money. Beretta gets about $200 for a 92, add wholesale markup, distributor markup, then retail markup (which is surprisingly small) and you end up paying $550. Thats really a subject for another thread.
  8. I agree 100%. But, this isnt a firearm. A firearm is a receiver/frame that carries a serial number. If I buy a 1911 frame from a FFL we have to NICS etc.. If I buy a 1911 slide from anyone then nothing is required. Effectively the same as buying a wrench at sears.
  9. There are plenty of loopholes and gray areas. You can help a friend make upgrades or changes as long as no one is compensated for their time/work. As a machine shop owner I would not. Not because its illegal, but it "looks suspicious". I personally dont want to find myself in a gray area that requires a defense.
  10. Its my understanding (for what its worth) that making changes to a receiver/frame of any kind constitutes gunsmithing. The receiver/frame is the firearm because its the only part that caries a serial number. However, manufacturing parts (other than the receiver) such as barrels, uppers, triggers etc... may be subject to ITAR. I do hope that ATF replies to my question soon.
  11. I have to agree. Regardless of the actions of the rest of the country NJ, NY, CT, CA, MD will still have an uphill battle. However, it will give us a national precedence and it will raise awareness among our populace about the restrictions. No way will NJ have CCW in 6 months as some of you hope. Small chance that the US will have reciprocity and NJ may honor out of state resident license. Our great states constitution excludes it/us from many national laws. think of the ACA (Obamacare) and how NJ has its own exchange rather than be part of the national exchange. And our liberal populace and rulers love the ACA. They do not want the CCW.
  12. Found this dealer in NJ that sells only American Made sportsmans and tactical products. They also manufacture their own line of high quality knives. I emailed them for a question and they sent me back a discount and free shipping code.
  13. I read the link to ATF as well as the other comments. I agree that anyone modifying a firearm in any way needs an FFL. My argument is that I am never touching a firearm. The slide or upper or barrel is not a firearm. The only part that is a firearm is the part that carries a serial number frame, receiver, lower. To my knowledge those parts are not regulated in any way. Guys that cerakote or engrave generally take possession of a firearm frame/receiver.

  15. Why would I have to pay ITAR? No plans to manufacture guns.
  16. Does packing everything into the back of a bronco and go to the sandwash for the weekend count? We had to start fires with a car cig lighter. Hiked nearly 100yds to set up the cabin tent. On a serious note. Would be fun as long as you have matches and some other basic tools with water close by. Starting a fire with a bow sucks
  17. I have machined a few of my handgun slides to accept a micro red dot. Currently there is a decent business available for machinists with the equipment to do the job properly. My question is. Can I accept slide only (no frame or receiver or other serialized parts) into my shop to CNC mill the slide for rmr? Or does this constitute being in the "gun business"? I have sent an e-mail to the ATF with this very same question but, I dont know when I will hear back from them. As far as I can read from any of the ATF frequently asked Q&A I can do such business. I could also for example make parts such as charging handles, handguards etc.. However, I dont want to be on the wrong side of the laws. I will not take any answer as an offer of legal advice. Merely asking the question to know if I should proceed with paying someone for a official interpretation of the law.

    Walther ppk/s

I dont own one but I have fired a PPK. Its on my short list. They are smooth shooting and operating. Classic lines and style. Not sure if its just the 007 reference or not , but the gun has class. I will be buying a WWII vintage PPK in the near future. I have never heard the above in reference to the PPK/S nomenclature. I was under the impression that the difference between a PPK & PPK/s was stainless steel. Thanks for clearing that up Sarge13
  19. Love the Kevin Lesswing stuff. But, they are art work, Damascus blades and fancy engraved knives are not really meant to be used. Personally I use my knives. D2 or S30V blades are all I own.
  20. They are on the pricey side. But when compared to other quality manufacturers they are right in line. The plus is that they are all made in the USA. I should have mentioned address HP-Tactical.com
  21. I came across these guys the other day hp-tactical.com. I ended up buying a Wicked Edge sharpening system from them. They are right here in NJ and make their own line of knives from D2 and they also had some others like Ka-Bar and Buck etc...All American Made stuff. They are just starting out and its all web based so selection is not great. So if anyone is interested pass it around. Great to promote local business and American made goods. Instagram is @tacticoolpro coupon codes and the usual promo stuff. Same info on Facebook HP-Tactical.
  22. Good knives are not cheep and cheep knives are not good. Having said that you can find some values with short run and semi custom manufacturers that are trying to make a name for themselves. Personally I am not a benchmade fan. I use and abuse my EDC knives. I carry a Buck Stockman (US made) or a Boker (similar to stockman) (German). Hunting knives are mostly no name Solingen stamped blades.
  23. NICKJC- I think you missed the part about X-bow. I don't have the time in my schedule to be able to become effective with a bow. Crossbow let's me bypass a lot of the practice time needed. I have plenty of time shooting from tree stand with rifle. I will take a day and try some elevated x-bow shots. My question is really about wichanging x-bow to buy.
  24. Because thats what happens when you meat hunt.
  25. I know this is a gun sight and thats why Im here. But, in NJ the stick and string method offers so many advantages and so much more time to harvest I have to ask. Without getting to specific and making this a long topic. What is the minimum bow needed as far as FPS and KE is concerned to effectively use the bigger 3 blade expandables? I need to get an Xbow to open up my areas and time. I dont want to be the AH that maims and wounds. I want to drop the dear similar to the way my muzzloader or 30-06 does, or at least as close as I can with an X-bow.
