Not in Bergen but Monmouth arms has Anderson lowers for a good price.

I tried getting one from them.  I've called, left messages, PM'ed, and replied to their posts here.  No reply at all, are they still in business?

I wound up getting a couple from Heritage guild in PA, they ship free to the stores in Jersey and you just pay a single NICS for multiple lowers, they were nice enough to give me consecutive serial numbers as well.

I got the WMD NiB BCG from Ty, MidwestPX and it runs great. Haven't cleaned it yet so I can't comment on how easily it cleans up. I do however have over 1300 rounds through it with not one hiccup. I might clean it soon...

Looks like his website is down.  Oh well, I placed an order for the Sharps, we'll see how it works out.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

  3. Getting ready to pull the trigger on a Sharps Bolt Carrier, at $199 it's kinda pricey but in the general range of other chrome/nickel/coated carriers.

Just looking to see what others have used in their builds and see what you had for suggestions.  I want a chrome/coated carrier to go with my stainless barrel.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I recently moved to Runnemede, NJ from Philadelphia, PA.  I am trying to obtain a FID and a permit to purchase a handgun.  I have downloaded the application, the mental health record form, and tried to drop it off at the police station.

The clerk said I needed to make an appt with the chief of police, but that he wasn't it.  She gave me a number and left a message.  I called again, and finally got to talk to him.  He said since I was from Philadelphia, it would take forever, and that he didn't have any appointments available.  He said to check back with him in a few weeks.  What kind of answer is this from a city official?

I just don't get it, I'm a responsible, tax-paying citizen, and I have no criminal or mental health issues.  Any advice to even get this process started would be much appreciated.

Call the state police firearms unit, they can touch base with departments like this that break the law and advise them.  Now that might do more harm than good but it doesn't seem like you are getting anywhere as it is.

So, private companies can trample rights because they dont like something? Maybe google is on to something here.  Let's pretend (and I do mean PRETEND) I dont like catholics, blacks or gays. According to the logic you presented, if I own a business I may infringe upon the civil rights of others at my pleasure.

I think you need to go back to middle school Social Studies or Civics, rights are something thinly and precariously guaranteed to you by the constitution as it pertains to GOVERNMENT.  Private entities do not have to give anyone freedom to do anything,

Had one of the weirdest buying experiences this past week or so with Lou's Firearm's in Raritan.

Firstly, I'd like to start by saying that my experience may not be the same as everyone's, so please just take this with grain of salt. From the information that I was able to find about this shop, they had great reviews, especially for "novice" shooters. That combined with a large 1911 selection and proximity to home is why I chose to check out the shop.

That being said, I had a very odd experience from the moment I walked in the door.

When I walked into the shop for the first time, I wasnt greeted or even aknowledged by any of the 3 employes behind the counters... Granted, I guess I walked in during their lunch, because all of them had food spread out on their counters. So I stood in the middle of the store with these three guys just staring at me for a few awkward seconds, and introduced myself as someone who had called earlier interested in checking out their slection of 1911's.

At this point, one of the guys behind the counter just stared at me a few seconds more and then told me, rather dismissively, that what I was looking for was in the room I had already passed through.

By this point, I was already feeling pretty unwelcomed, so I thought I would just look at some guns through the glass and leave. However, one of the other associates, Chris, was kind enough to come over and really help me understand the different models and price ranges they had. He was great. He must have taken almost a dozen guns in and out of the case to let me take a look.

After about 20 mintues of talking, I felt confident that the model I wanted to buy was the Kimber TLE custom II. Again, Chris was great, absolutely no pressure in trying to close the deal, but I probably wouldnt of minded if he did. It was just weird that I had to ask all the questions. So I filled out my paperwork, bought some accessories and left knowing it would be about a week until my NICs came through.

A week later I called to check on my purchase. And after I had pleasantly greeted whoever it was on the phone, I expalined when I had purchased the gun, and why I was calling... I was met with about a 5 second pause... And after that, a pretty disdainful "So are you gonna give me a name?". I obliged, he said "It's in" and then I heard a rather abrupt "click"...

So the thing that bothers me most about this whole experience is when I went to go pick the gun up...

When I entered the store, I was met with the same exact blank stare from 3 guys behind the different counters. No greeting.. No aknowledgement... When I spoke to one of the guys behind the counter and told him I was there to pickup my firearm, he responded rather gruffly with "Name..." (I'm assuming this is who I spoke to on the phone)

He checked the list, found my box, handed it to me, and turned away to continue doing whatever it was he was doing before I had interupted him. And I walked out.

Now I understand some places have their regulars... and I really appreciate it when I find a business that I can frequent... But I dont know how this place expects people to become loyal customer to their store, when buying a $1200 peice of hardware doesnt even earn you a "Good afternoon" or a "Hey there, how can I help" when I come in to pick it up. There were other people who they seemed familiar with when they walked in, and they greeted them just fine. Me? I guess I pissed in somebody's cheerios.

Ultimately, I'm happy with the product I bought and the price I paid for it. But that wont convince me to come back to Lou's.

I've experienced this before, not in gun shops but in other retail areas.   I just walk right out and never go back.

I live in Bridgewater and have been thinking of popping in and seeing what they are all about, maybe I wont.  I don't have the disposition to be treated like crap.

I hope it passes. The statehouse will burn to the ground, and assembly members will sway softly in the breeze, hanging by their necks.

No it wont, NY residents will take it and not do a damn thing, just like pussies in Jersey do.  Both states are run by Liberal scumbags.

There is now a White House Petition activated to stop the above bill (HR 4269) - The Assault Weapons ban of 2015/2016.

It needs 100,000 signatures by 01/16/2016. It has only 5557 as of this writing. Passing it along so all can sign. Please pass this onto other 2A forums.

It's called triage. You focus on the individual(s) (states) you can help and abandon those you can't. Except I don't believe we can't be helped. It doesn't make sense that VT is an overwhelmingly liberal state and has constitutional carry. We don't. That is what the national and state organizations should be studying.

NJ's career politicians are corrupt and pandering to the lowest common denominator.  They are completely useless and without hope.

  11. Anyone hear anything more.

I asked for a membership form, they are looking for folks to prepay for their membership, which I would never do.  I asked when they are planning to open, and they said retail was supposed to open in July.

Just looking at the pricing tiers, I do get the sense that if they ever open, they will be all about LE, not so much the public

  12. Nothing against you but this is an example of all the bs misinformation going around. All federal violations are not felonies. If you can get more than a year in jail it's a felony, less than a year a misdemeanor, 5 days or less it's an infraction. Was the speeding ticket on post office property given by Postal Police? Was the ticket for federal court? Whoever it was failure to appear is not a felony.

Speeding on federal property would at most be a misdemeanor.

Yup - Ive been lurking here for a long time, some of the things said lead me to believe there isnt much common sense left in the community, which scares me.

  13. i'd need to see them actually IN the walmart, rather than just on the road with a walmart sign there....

That wont happen because there is no military storage happening in the closed Walmarts.

  14. I'll look up who there are.  Saved the text so I'll see if I can improve it.

I sometimes see Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino on my way home by Fox News.  I'd have no problem asking them to look into this story.  Maybe will see them or someone else before 'The Five' goes on the air.  Hit or miss thing.
