  1. Cool SL8R, glad you had fun. Probably go tomorrow to recheck the sight in on one of my 30-30's and 308. Bought some of that new IMR4166 "Enduron" powder and been trying it out, due to it's availability and claims. Didn't work as well as other powders for me, so I'm moving on to some long needed just shooting practice. Specially with the Glock.
  2. Hey, I'm for fingerprinting and I don't care if they want to charge a couple bucks for it. But if you have to go through the whole system & expenses as if applying for your first time, when there's nothing wrong with your present certification, then that's just an harassment. It's like making you take the drivers test again every time you want to buy a new car.
  3. Bangers look good for rifle, I figure it's 45-60min away. Although doing some evening pistol shooting, I wouldn't want to run down there. May be easier to look for something across the BB bridge. I hear there's something over there in Bristol/Croydon. Just looked them over. Apparently their pistol/rifle range is only open Friday afternoon & weekends.
  4. I must apologize. I was assured by staff this past weekend that they would be open. Of course I was disappointed (again) when I showed up there today. Which bring's me to ask your forgiveness and also...... I shoot mostly levers (44mag,45colt, 30-30s 444's & 45-70's) and one 308 bolt, what are my options for an alternative place to shoot? Also I'm in need of some handgun practice and would like to find an indoor range (that let's me use my own ammo), that I could visit during the week.
  5. Well, what my beef is, is if my long gun purchaser card is still valid, why should I have to put out almost $100 again and go through the whole 1-2 month (long gun) fingerprint approval process, with references and all again & receive another identical card, instead of just the fingerprint checks for the new handgun part?
  6. Several years ago, the local twp required me to reapply (with all the costs) for the long gun purchaser permit (that I already had) just to purchase a handgun, even though there was nothing wrong with the card I had. Is this normal in NJ? I'm thinking of making another handgun purchase but if I have to go through the whole process and expense again, I may not.
  7. I asked around at the eyeglass chain stores, but haven't found anybody that could make an inverted bifocal.
  8. A while back, I was adjusting a Williams peep sight on one of my Marlins and discovered that I started shooting better. Then I realized that I still had my reading glasses on. I can see the target ok but the front sight is just a tiny bit blurry. Didn't think it would matter, but I guess it does.
  9. Yeah, they wanted to move the berm back another 100yds, but who could make it there, set up and get back in time? They've done a lot of structural improvement to it in the past two years but it also came with a lot of new safety regulations.
  10. Be sure target's are anchored or buried real good, it can get windy out there, think being down the beach. The ground is sandy, but if it's wet, it could freeze this time of year. I have a garden auger that goes into my drill to break through it. Anyway, here's a picture of the chamber flags they sell. Really just colorful plastic cable ties. But remember, all firearms must be in the case when transporting to & from the table. And please do not point the muzzles at the roof. There's a few holes in it already and they get a little touchy about it. Anyway, maybe I'll see you on Wednesday, Friday (when open) evenings or Sundays. Have fun.
  11. They will be open Wed. New Years Eve, till the usual 5pm (until they get those lights fixed). But keep in mind that if the weather's bad and they can't see across the field, they may shut it down on the 4:20 cease fire. They were closed last Friday because Obama gave all federal employees the day off. Found that out when I showed up at 3:30.
  12. It would be something you really have to ponder (for this area) and sit down & list. Starting with natural, medical, into man made (nuclear, chemical, etc.). One thing to consider is would it be smart to "bug out". Given the dense population of this state, the roads are going to be useless and it may be more prudent to shelter in place if safe. Even thought a lot of survival skills deal with hunting, fishing and growing food, it may not be feasible in an extremely populated state like New Jersey. On the up side, we do have plenty of options for can goods. Of course we may be dealing with decaying bodies. It's all a matter of what exactly happens, and no one can predict that.
