  1. I had a similar problem when I was a teenager. My father wasn't against guns just didn't want any in his home. As I asked before I don't know how many guns you have, but I only see one other solution. If you don't have that many, could you leave them at your FIL's or at another friend's house. You could also buy a small safe and leave it at a friend's house. The other suggestion is if you have any friend's that are gun owner's that have their own safe, do they have room for yours?
  2. Mike, Do you have a basement? If so just declare it is your man cave. I don't know how many guns you have but get a Liberty Safe that holds about 20 long guns. They also have the S&G combo locks. I have that safe and they have to bring it in with an appliance carrier. It weighs about 500 lbs. and once in place nothing is moving it. She is not telling you to get rid of your firearms, so as long as you have them they should be in a safe. https://www.libertysafe.com/safe-centurion-safes-ps-23.html
  3. Don't forget this is more than a gun issue. I think the SCOTUS will want to send a message to the circuit courts.
  4. Since NJ and NY are fighting similar battles. So I decided to look at their case, even though NY has been granted certorari already. Maybe some momentum in the CCW cases. NY City case has already been granted certiorari but the respondent's (NY City) are worried and tried to stall. Their stalling tactic to hear the case was denied. Here is the link to the NY case. For those interested in this stuff you can read 2 short letters from each side around April 12th or so. Basically the city is trying to push that they have amendments that might change the situation if they pass. The Supreme Court was having none of it. As Bugs Bunny used to say, "It is to laugh." www.supremecourt.gov/search.aspx?filename=/docket/docketfiles/html/public/18-280.html
  5. But the chief or turban head won't be able to refuse if we get shall issue. Similar to the same questions on the handgun or rifle paperwork. Even if there are stricter instructional standards that will be a matter of going to any gun club that has public classes.
  6. I think if the shall issue passes the Superior Court Judge should be out. If your CLEO approves you that should be that. And the only things to hold it up, would be a past felony, domestic violence, drugs, mental, etc. Actually the Judge should never have been involved. The Justice branch does not approve any licenses. That is supposed to be an Executive function. It was just another block in the road. Something the SCOTUS justices could also argue about.
  7. Chris,

I saw your location and it made me think of my father. I used to live around Carteret, NJ and used to spend a lot of time in your area, especially the South Branch of the Raritan. If you fish how is it looking this year with all the water we've had?

  8. They haven't listed an exact date yet, but they have all the documents from both sides now. Interesting that the NY case has been granted certiorari already, but that doesn't prevent them from hearing both cases and publishing oral arguments on both of them later.
  9. One thing to remember about Roberts. He may be less firm on the gun issue. But it is clear that we have a conflict in the Circuit Courts and he is not one to tolerate having them thumb their nose at the SCOTUS. There is also a trend among the states not to be ignored (Tennessee just passed their own law). This can affect not only NJ, but NY, Mass, etc. Not only what happened in DC but IL, where the 7th Circuit gave them about a 100 days or they would re-write the IL law themselves.
  10. Using the wait and see argument with NY and MA is a specious one. I have tried to find out the number of CCW permits in NJ and was told that information is private. So how we supposed to find out how limited we are. Also Heller was started because WASH DC would not let you carry a handgun from room to room let alone outside. If the present conservative court does not grant to hear our case with AG's weak argument, I don't know if we ever will.
  11. A1233 seems like a dream come true for CCW in NJ. Could it get thru the Assembly? Is there a Senate Bill? I can see as a going away present Christie sticking it to the anti-gun crowd, with nothing to lose.
  12. Is there longer wait times for permits this year? I submitted my paperwork and $18.00 check to my local PD before Christmas and I still don't have my permits. Is everyone else experiencing this? John
  13. Hi, Just found this forum on the internet searching for NJ Gun Law stuff. I shoot everything that goes boom. John
