Pretty sure last time he showed up around here he didn't have answers to these questions... at a gun club none the less... but on his website it says it all... he only supports people carrying if they have a dangerous job...

Fucking Joe Manchin is a bigger republican than this guy.

    From his website:

    • Reform any law that violates an individual’s constitutional right to due process
    • Grandfather in any firearm that was legally purchased, but that is deemed illegal in subsequent legislation
    • Standardize the process by which firearms ID cards and gun carry permits are processed and approved, and oppose all increases in related fees
    • Speed up gun permit application processes with “fast track” status for applicants who face imminent danger (e.g., victims of domestic violence)
    • Advocate for “concealed carry” for certain dangerous professions
    • Promote and fund additional resources to address the underlying, serious mental health crisis in our country that too often manifests itself in gun violence

“Reform” any law that violates dues process.  So he supports Red Flag laws. Just need a tweak....

“Grandfather in any firearm”..uh..how about oppose any law that make a firearm or accessory illegal?

”Standardize..”. ...uh... there is already “standardized state law..... how about criminalize slow walking of FPIDs. Or better yet.  NICS is all thats needed.

“Advocate for CC for “certain” dangerous professions....  Advocate????  Wth does that even mean?  Someone tell him that law already exists.  The problem is unaccountable leftist county judges imposing their ideology and not the law.  Or better yet... How about “Advocating”... for Shall Issue....

Jack is very weak on 2A.  I had hoped any R would be better than this.  But this tells me he is a RINO and not a conservative.  If he can’t be solid on these issues, I seriously doubt he will be solid on any conservative issue.  He is trying to appease some right of center “moderates”.  News Flash.  These are liberals.  Not right of center people.

    Very disappointing.

That's it.. the only reason I can think of voting for him is because he's NOT Murphy. And it seems to be his strongest message.

Pretty much .... based on what I’ve read so far, which hasn’t been very much.

My concern with some of these people is the best they will do is slow the slide to the left.  They won’t boldly advance a conservative agenda. They’ll just compromise with the left and claim they won when all they did was allow them to get at least some of what the left wants and nothing of what we want.

I’ll probably end up voting for they guy but part of me thinks letting it burn to the ground is the only way to ever get this state back.

I don't mind tough talk. Politics has morphed into street fight. Ifyou can't take bad words and real conflict stay on the sidelines. For all thay say civility should return, most of the people are hooked on reality TV and want to see a train wreck. As I have stated before I will vote for Jack but NJ really needs a revolutionary leadershiip change that is willing to go against the established norms (like Trump). Assuming Jack can win, which will be tough because he doesn't motivate anyone but the "machine" of the Republican party, NJ is still going to be a shit state.

I won't donate any $$ to him. He seems to have that lined up with the new GOP Chairman Hugin. Amazing the patronage that goes on.

The problem is, I doubt that change will happen with this guy.  From what I’ve seen, he’s a go along..get along RINO.  Which is one reason he won the primary. A lot of RINO voters in this state.  I think the only way he wins is if Murphy loses.  Meaning... its apathy or hostility toward Murphy by Dem voters.  That...and if Dems can’t cheat... because they will.  Expect record turnout in Essex, Hudson, Middlesex and Bergen counties.

I think this state is better off burning to ashes under radical Dems.  Or rather... the country will be better off.  Jersey needs to sink into the Atlantic. Its a lost cause.

You were at Spanish Springs.  It's about 1/4 mile from my first Villa.  A 5 minute cart ride.  We often run over for Ice cream.   Our second villa is directly between Sumter landing and Spanish Springs.  Sumter landing is the square against Lake Sumter.

I'm always with my wife and I don't drink, so I'm not running into the drunk floozy types :).

I hear about people having the occasional run-in with someone, but I've never seen any of it.  It's always smiles and friendly folks.

There really aren't any homes that aren't kept up.  There is sometimes one where the resident died with no next of kin and it goes fallow.  It takes a while for all the paperwork and such and often a neighbor will mow and do weeds.  It looks like Suburbia around 1950.  There are no punks, block parties, thump thump rap cruisers or any other nonsense.  There are sometime adult children who are drunk, drug addled fuck-ups who live with their parents.  They tend to make the paper when they get arrested for the 20th time.

Heck, you can't even park a 1ton truck on your property for more than 72 hours!  The covenants are pretty strict, but it's fine.  I'm not worried about leaving a junker in the front yard and I don't have to worry about the neighbor doing it either.  If that's your thing drive 10 minutes outside TV, there's as much red-neck, chain link fence, junk yard dog, abandoned car, no zoning as you can handle.

For me, it's nice to hop on the cart, drive to the rec center, swim, shoot pool, play pickle ball, or bocci or whatever.  After that we can cruise over to the square, listen to music, eat ice cream, get dinner and go home to our quiet neighborhood.

It's not for everyone, but it's a narrow band of people that it misses.   If you want your own shooting range and you like to weld on sand buggies in your 5 car garage, it's not for you.

Its definitely nice down there.  With the pair in the cart...I was clueless but my friend was laughing his ass off because I thought they wanted directions...  the two women were laughing as they drove off. They could have just been effing with me.  But the birthday girl was a train wreck we were a little concerned about.   Other than those two situations, it was pretty calm.  Nice wait staff where we were eating.  The beer place was pretty good.

My friends are on Arruda Terrace I think thats near Sumter Landing. I know the big food store was a quick ride over a bridge.  It think thats near Sumter.  Their other place was in a bit lower priced area on Escobar.  I only remember that bec ...Pablo....  We were clearing out that house for them so they could list it for sale.

It a nice lifestyle for sure.  Great social scene.  A lot of nice people.   I’m not quite ready for it though. Still have a lot of welding to do!

Which square?  I've been around the squares a bit and haven't had the same experience with the gray cougars, but then a bomb might go off next to me and there's a good chance I wouldn't notice, lol.

There is a Sabbath band that makes the rounds and they are REALLY good!

I’m not sure what it was called but I think it was the original one with the elevated pavillion in the middle for the band.  Has what looks like a Spanish theme going on.  There’s a newer one that has a lot more retail store fronts.  That one is near a body of water. The one I was at has a radio station of some kind there.  Saw the sign for it next to the open area.

There were these two lovely drunk ladies who were probably about 60 or 65...so not all that old for the Villages.... they wanted to know if I wanted to take a ride through the trails in their golf cart. Claimed they weren’t sure where the trails were and could use a guide....   uh huh...

Prior to that me and my friend were joined at our table by a woman who apparently was celebrating her birthday.  And celebrating hard at that.  Eventually her not so drunk friends found her and led her away.  She seemed taken with my buddy.

Friendly bunch of people that night.  And this was all before 9:00.

The band was 80’/90s pop and disco. So not my favorite but they actually did some Prince really well.

As you wrote, its a neat place.  It took a couple of days for me to get my bearings but its big like you said.  And pretty much whatever kind of retail place you can think of....is there somewhere.  And its clean as hell.  I suppose there are some homes that aren’t kept up but I didn’t see any.  It looked pretty much like a 200 square mile resort.

soooo.......you see that awesome 67 mustang gt390 fastback. it's in tenn. can you legitimately use this truck to drive from here to there and back again in a reasonable time?

battery operated vehicles have usefulness only for local driving.

I believe I said that. You are preaching to the choir.

  7. So I watched this review of the EV F-150.  I’m generally uninterested in EV’s because I think they are over priced and re-fueling takes a lot longer than 5 minutes.  Plus I just like the sound and feel of a combustion engine.

But it seems like Ford did a really good job with the EV F-150 Lightning.  The price, range, features not found in a regular F-150 make it pretty interesting.  Plus its fast as hell and it doesn’t look like a dumbass Cyber Truck.

The front trunk is a big plus.  One recurring issue with my Tundra when we head to airport with 4 people and luggage in the rain.  Yeah I know.  Covers are available.  But they are a pain in the ass.  Having a huge forward trunk is a good thing.

The range may actually be better than 450 miles if you’re not hauling a trailer or a load of brinks in the bed.  The charging process doesn’t go away but it becomes more practical for everything but a drive to Florida.

The price for the base model is $40k.  You can get it decked out and pay a huge price, but you don’t have to.

Plus, it also can be an alternate power source for at least a portion of your household AC power loads.  It has a 240 volt out. I didn’t see the full spec but thats probably 2 pole and can probably power something like a Reliant Electric 30 amp manual transfer switch with 10 breakers for a day or so based on what reviewer says.

So I’m still not excited about EVs in general, but the added bonuses and price point of this F-150 EV makes it at least worth a look.  For me it has little to do directly with the EVs aspect and much more to do with what it can do.

When I was in high school and college, 1210 used to play them one night a week (yes. . . I'm old . . . )  I loved listening!

Because of this, I think that I'm one of the very few people who likes the Alec Baldwin film version . . .

I think the fact that a given show would air regularly on a given night and time and people would work their day or evening around the broadcast slot somehow added to it.  I know that was also a thing for sitcoms or some other tv broadcast,  but that fact that it was radio somehow made it different.   Probably had something to do with it becoming a dying art form when I was able to listen.  Some degree of appreciation for it was a thing back then.

Heh, I'm not bothered by it, my post did come across a bit harsh.  It's mostly when I tell people in person and the next words out of their mouth "Did you know, it's the STD capital of Florida".  Lol.

I was there for a week back in February.  After checking out the live music one night that they have every night at the Town Square, it seemed to me that it easier to get laid there then it was at the Fountain Casino in the 80’s.   Not that I took part in what looked to be the chosen Sport of the evening... it was sort of like being in a nightmare where all my friend’s Mom’s were trying to hook up with me.

So... probably not the STD mecca...but they do seem to play it fast and loose when the sun goes down and the bourbon is pouring.

And the music was pretty good by the way.  So was the craft beer bar.

  10.  No R can win if mail-in is used again.  Way too much fraud.

If the election relies on actual Votes, and someone impressive is put up...that person has a shot.  Support for Murphy is weak.  He won in part because Guadino,..or whatever her name was.... was unlikable and generated zero excitement.

anyone else ever listen to those old radio shows? or read the books?

Yes.... used to be on AM radio....  my father had them on a lot,  for some reason, even as a fairly young kid, I found them to be pretty cool.  The story telling aspect of it was different than anything on the radio. And the fact that they were either thrillers or horror stories added a bit of coolness to them.

    You aren‘t wrong.....

Here in NJ, this election will be decided by the process. If it is all Mail-In like the last one....the Rs have no shot.  I don’t see Murphy voluntarily giving up the golden goose of mass mailing of mail-in ballots.  Why would he????

  13. Found reload 115gr 9mm at Freedom Munitions for $225/500.  Increments of 50 rounds.

    $0.4482/ round

    about 137,000 in stock.

I’ve never had issues with their reloads.

Crazy where these prices are now.  Apparently my stash of 5.56 represents a nice down payment on a starter home...

Just checked and Freedom Munitions also has new 9mm 124 gr for $0.486 per round.   So $24.30 per box.  5300 left in stock.  Mem Day sale.

do you feel that this time's gonna be different? 'cause the repubs seem awful divided, and the media's doing all they can to prop this rat up.

If they get away with all mail in ballots, they will cheat again just as they last November.

Don't forget that was a small majority and the vote was made personal by John McCain.  He wasn't going to give anything to Trump.

Not to get political here.  This is just an observation of the actually party breakdown in the Senate.  The reality is that the republican party, particularly in the Senate, is divided.  There are really three parties.  The Democrats, the Republicans and a ReDemricans.  That 3rd party being comprised of Collins, Romney, Murkowski, Sasse, Toomey and a few others whose names I can recall right now. McCain was among them.

With this three party system in the Senate, where each generally stays unified, the Republicans haven’t has anything more than a super slim majority when there were 40 dems and Scott Brown won his seat, giving the Republicans and a Redemricans a combined 60 seats.  The problem was that 3rd party, the Redemricans usually voted with the Dems.

That needle may move a bit but it needs to move an almost improbable amount to even  make a election close. Registered R's make up a whopping  22.4 % inNJ.  Unaffiliated is  39%!   Unless  you believe there is a overwhelming  hidden conservative demographic in that bloc , which IMO is laughable NJ is true blue.  Not to mention Singh has to first take the primary ( the ugly stepdaughter of elections that doesnt draw much interest) to even have a remote chance. Also Murphy already has his  own well placed  Indian to help him.

All that is true.  I think for an R to win....it is more of the D blowing it.  Murphy may be hated enough... but maybe not.  I do think Rs are apathetic in NJ.  I also think the Rs do not go after the black vote.  They wouldn’t get a majority but they can get a decent amount.  They just don’t try in NJ.

UPenn and Drexel on board too. Faculty and staff probably exempt because they are union. Funny thing is, profs and staff are the more vulnerable age group, just goes to show it's nothing but political theater.

I’m glad we are done with Drexel.  Political theater indeed.  Utter nonsense is another way to describe it.  Schools should be forced to explain the logic that students must be vaccinated and the staff is not required to be vaccinated.

  18. I’d say do it.  You are 23.   You could also get supervisory or mgr jobs in retail that pay a little more than you are making now and only have to work 40 hours. Netting pretty close to where you are at now.  Just as an example of alternative.  The factory job may be more attractive. Jobs where you are dealing with retail customers can have its own issues.

The change you may make seems like it will not be a financial risk.  And it will give you your life back.  Nothing more valuable than getting your life back.  Missing time with your kids is something you can never get back.  Keep that in mind.

Edit: saw you are 33.  But I maintain the same opinion. Good luck!!

Thats probably in line with most recent potus elections in NJ. Its more a party affiliation issue than Trump. And why NJ sux and will never see a R gov again., Trumps coattails or not.

I recall reading a lot of Indians do not vote and those that do, lean heavy Dem.  if thats true, Mr. Singh may move that needle.

Also, Murphy has endeared almost no one.  That pendulum could swing right if Murphy runs again.

But NJ does suck. Do you recall when it was considered a heavy Independent state?

i'm not an hvac guy...but what you're describing is what happens on cars when the freon's low.

IANAHVACG....   but this is the most likely issue.  If you see ice building on the evaporator coil or the low pressure (cold side) line outside, that makes it more likely to be a refrigerant issue.  But there are other issues, like with valves that can also be the issue.  I end up dealing directly with a lot of hvac guys where I work and picked up some basic knowledge over the years.  No mini splits but the systems have a whole lot in common.

If it is low refrigerant, they should also locate the leak.

There's a theory that all the earlier rhetoric from the left about packing the court was to intimidate the conservative justices.  The message is "if you follow the constitution and we don't like it, we'll just add enough justices that your vote won't ever count again".

Its much more than a theory.   And it Is intimidating the court.  Search... 2020 Presidential Election supreme court.  There was a particular reluctance to take any case or even hear the facts.
