  1. Yeah, i've heard some horror stories, but the guy's i dealt with were fairly nice. Their prices are simply outrageous though; i wish i new better prior to my initial large purchase when i got my FID. Ended up buying ammo online for 66% of the price online after spending like 200$ on ammo there and would have easily saved $300-400 purchasing the rifles and handgun i purchased elsewhere if i shopped around. It is what it is; i got what i wanted and took them home the same day. Cabelas WILL sell to NJ residents in PA, but Bass Pro Shop refuses to do so; "Store Policy". I now refuse to buy anything from them. There is no reason why Cabelas less than an hr away is fine with doing so given you have the proper paperwork while Bass Pro refuses to do so. Too bad.
  2. Thanks for the offer but i was lookin at a 308. If they have nothin good ill holler. Send me pics and price if ya dont mind and ill see what they have for how much. Going to make sure cabelas will sell to us New jerseyans and then probably go there in a bit.
  3. Flemington NJ? Ya got a name for the place? Ill try giving em a call maybe ill get lucky.
  4. Hey all, as the title suggests, i am on the way to the Philly zoo in an hour or so(pit stop at iHop). I want to pick up a remington 700 (dicks has the ADL in black for 499.99 with a scope) while im out there. Any suggestion on where to go? Cabelas, Bass Pro are both in the area. Heritage guild Easton is north. Id like to pick it up and stop at one of the three. Not sure if gander mountain has a store there. Which of the 3 would have the better selection & price? I know bass pro in atlantic city had a 783 for 330$ while it was 380 at dicks sporting goods but it was too late due to nics closing. What do you guys suggest? Id rsther support my LGS but heritage is hardly small and i did spend 4k+ there like two or three months ago so they already got a ton of my business. Please respond ASAP cause i dont have long LOL. I may also pick up a lever action of some sort if i find a nice one at a nice price. P
  5. I have a 2011 F150 4x4. 4x2 and 4x4 aren't much of a big difference so long as you're not driving w/ 4x4 engaged. If you are, its a few MPG drop. I've towed 30'+ aluminum trailers with snowmobiles to Upstate NY (old Forge) with snowmobiles and gear and no problems in the mountains and all with the trailer brake control and all. Great, fun truck but none of them are as reliable as they used to be. Warranty ran up a few thousand miles ago and am considering getting an SUV now that i have a daughter, as well. To be honest, IMO they are all the same crap nowadays. I Wouldn't worry about it unless you intend on keeping the thing forever. For what you need, i'm sure any will be fine. I Like my American vehicles, so my suggestion is naturally to buy American. As for bed covers, those are generally going to be aftermarket; don't rely on those crappy roll up leather looking ones, had one for a while and it was like not having a cover at all; anything in the bed got soaked anyways, it just kept it out of the open so people couldn't see it. I now have an ARE DCU cap; not the prettiest looking but works great for work.
  6. Ended up ordering through SGammo. Price is cheaper than most others but they do charge shipping.. Did the math and ended up being worth it because i ordered half a case of .45 ammo as well. Can't justify spending 300$+ on 1,000 rds of .45 right now, so got 500 .45 and 1500 .223 for now. Should be good for a while. Buddy of mine will be buying some off of me as needed for his rifle as well, so i thought i'd get the extra 500 and just pay the extra 4$ or whatever in shipping now than order 500 more later on, have to pay full (non discounted over 1,000 rds) price, and pay 12$+ shipping.
  7. Thanks for the info guy's. I Think i'll stick to brand new Wolf Ammo or PMC, which is fairly cheap. I'd rather stick to something reliable until i know what the heck i'm doing, haha. Now then, what's a "Good" price for ammunition? I found Wolf for something like 32 cents a rd with free shipping, if i'm not mistaken. Is that a good deal? How about .45 ammunition? I believe they were 30 cents a piece. Quantities other than full cases (1,000) were still the same price per round but no free shipping (Shipping was like 18$ for half a case of each). I'd probably get a full case of .223 (1,000) and 500 .45. As for the .22, i paid 8$ i believe it was for 100 rounds of cci in the little plastic hard cases. Can't really compete with that, so i'll just pick it up from the store down the street. On the other hand, i was paying 8.99 for a pack of 20 PMC plus tax and 23.99 for a pack of 50 .45acp cci Blazer Brass. With taxes factored in, both are like 50 cents a round give or take a bit. That's a HUGE difference. My buddy thought i was nuts for wanting to spend all this money up front after buying multiple firearms and now buying tons of ammo, but honestly i already spent tons of money on 200 rds .223, 100 rds .45, two boxes of 12ga and 400 rds of .22, and with those price differences i'd have saved 50$+ ALREADY. That's like Buy two get one free, and for that, yes, i'll spend 500$ on ammo up front and not have to buy any for at least a few months. Plus, if theirs a zombie apocalypse, i'll have a decent qty of ammunition!
  8. Also, how about Steel cased ammo? One of the guy's at the local store said there's nothing wrong with steel cased, but the laquer or whatever finish is on them to prevent rusting does make the contact points dirtier, faster, and so you'd have to just clean a bit more often. I've also read about a few horror stories with nonstop jams and misfires with them.
  9. Do you never sleep?! Haha thanks for the info! If you don't mind me asking, WHY do you stay away from the remanufactured ammo? If the general consensus is to stay away for the extra couple bucks, i'm fine with that, but would like to know why haha.
  10. Also, i've noticed that .223 Remanufactured ammo is about 40$ cheaper per case of 1,000; Are there any downsides to reloaded ammo? Is it less reliable? More prone to missfires, jams? I'm not familiar with actually purchasing ammo as my experience as of now only goes as far as renting firearms that come with ammunition. Thanks!
  11. Hey all. Need some suggestions and websites to look at for cheap ammo; .22LR, .45, .223. Can just pick up 12ga whenever i feel like shooting it at a local store as i don't intend on shooting it much. .22LR is only 7.99 or 8.99 for a pack of 100 locally, so thats not as important, however, the local stores only have small packages of 20rds of .223 and it's .45$ a piece plus tax. I'd like to find a good site and some suggestions as to whats a good basic round for my Sig M400 just to shoot paper or whatever. Willing to buy a box of 1,000$ if it means saving 10+cents a bullet. Same goes for the .45 which is for my Ruger SR1911. Thanks guys and sorry if this is a repost, i tried using the search function and to be honest it seems to perform terribly on here.
  12. Cool, thanks for the info bud. Unfortunately, the wife drives a Kia Soul, so no trunk. I drive an F150 and would rather not put them in the bed, even though it has a camper on it, but i don't really drive it often other than for work anyways. I Have bag's and a Hard case for my AR on the way, so locking them up in a bag is no problem. I have a locking pelican case for the handgun as well; its not so much transporting them thats the problem, its whether its legal for me to bring them to somebodies house and keep them there, sometimes overnight (and under my supervision, locked away in a closet and with locks on the actual firearms). For example, i may be going to the range sunday early AM. The range is over an hour away, so i'd like to stay at my mothers house which is half way there where my buddy who is taking me lives (old highschool friend who still lives in town) and take one car from his place to the range, rather than taking two cars all the way to the range. Or, for example, if i want to visit my parents before/after the range since i'll already be in the area. I understand that it is illegal with handguns (or is it just a grey area?), but is it legal with rifles/long guns? I've heard of guy's staying at friends houses the night before going out to hunt and bringing their firearms with them; is that legal?? I'm not stupid enough to do anything that would get me caught in a grey area, but i don't want to blatantly break the law. I know not to speed and get in an accident with an arsenal in the car, even if i'm not doing anything illegal as far as the transportation of the firearms goes, just to avoid the hassle, but am not sure what the rules/regulations are as far as having the firearms in places other than your home, business, and a range/gun shop.
  13. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). Initial FID And One handgun permit 2. Police Department where you applied. Woodbridge Police Department 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Connie in Permits department 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. Wednesday the 6th of January to Tuesday February 2nd (Just under 4 weeks). 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). None 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). None, other than the annoying two week wait to get fingerprinted by identigo or whatever that company was, and the 55$ charge. Mental health record is the only reason it even took as long as 4 weeks, the PD was done with their part within two weeks, took the longest for the mental health records to come back clean.
  14. Hahaha^ So, technically, as long as i am present along with my FID i can legally have my RIFLES with me, even if it is not a range/shop or my own home and i am not on the way to any of those places? I Just want to be 100% Sure; better safe than sorry. I'm assuming this also does not apply to Handguns?
  15. What are the actual regulations regarding 'legally stowed'? NJ Laws are ridiculously broad, some guy's say wrapping a firearm in a rag would be considered legal to transport as long as they are not in the open. Would a gun bag with a lock on the zippers be considered legal if i stored them that way next to me if i stayed at my moms? The reason i'm asking is i'm in the Woodbridge area and am over an hour from any decent gun range. My parent's are in the East Brunswick area and that would be 30 or so minutes closer. I have my own room there for when we stay the night there and would keep the firearms in the closet of that room overnight so that i could go to the range the next morning. Would that be considered alright? Thanks!
  16. Hey all. Just curious. A buddy of mine wanted to teach me how to properly assemble, disassemble, install new handguard etc. on my new M400. Just got my FID and other than shooting rentals in which i didn't even have to load the magazines, i am fairly unfamiliar with them; i know the basics (How to open them, etc) only because they break down for the most part the same way as an airsoft gun. That being said, Is it Legal & OK for me to take my firearms to my friends house, parent's house, etc. or only to/from FFL's & Ranges?? Thanks!
  17. PD2K, a bit delayed hahaha. I Held the 19/something similar and it didn't feel right in my hands, though. At least, not after holding the 1911. I held one of those fake glocks they have so you can feel the difference in grip sizes and that was advertizing the streamlight weapon lights and absolutely loved it. I was basically set on a g19 until i held the real thing and the feeling was weird. Always ran 1911's even when i used to airsoft and always wanted one so i figured why not. Already had a blackhawk holster and all for it, too. As for the light that i have, its a Red dot/flashlight combo, i don't THINK i could just take it apart and mount it right to the handguard with a different bracket, though i could be wrong. I'm going to open it once im done shipping out some order's i have to get out the door and see what it comes with. I think its a custom mount though for the laser and flashlight that goes to a pic rail. As far as it being solid, would the Magpul handguard be solid? I Don't want a wobbly handguard.
  18. High Exposure, i'm not sure i understood. The light that i have has a pic or 1" Scope mount, i believe. The New MLOK handguards do not have any rails, but they make the little rail sections for 20$ or so that bolt onto the handguard and then you can attach whatever. I realize that magpul makes direct attachment equipment like vertical grips, etc. but that wouldn't help as far as the flashlight thing goes. I Think maybe you misunderstood???
  19. Thanks! I drove the permits lady NUTS haha. Called her and she said she was working on my permit as we speak, stopped in a few hours later and made her reprint my pistol permit with Today's date rather than tomorrows so that i could go to the store. I Know Heritage has Hexmags on order but they are 100% sold out in both NJ locations, at least on the full size mags, which sucks because the one is right down the street from me only 2 or 3 miles. I figured i'd just order them online. I know the rahway one was 100% out and the one i was at is a bit further and they were out of everything but the miniature 10 or 15 round ones, which i'm simply not a fan of. I'd rather wait and get the full size blocked mags. I believe you are right, its something like 7" for the handguard. I'd like the ability to add rail mounted accessories including the flashlight/laser combo i already have from work (5 finger discount on my own merchandise, haha) so i don't know if it'd be worth getting the magpul moe with the accessory rail's on the two sides or maybe i'll just get a quad rail. I'll have to do some research and see what i can find.
  20. Got my FID&PP Today. Spent a few hrs at The Heritage guild talking to some great guy's. Ended up getting the Sig M400 AR i mentioned in a separate thread; unfortunately they didn't have the enhanced version but it turns out the standard M400 has the Magpul stock anyways due to NJ law, so the only real difference is the front handguard which is no big deal. I'll pick up an MOE separately or a quad rail. Also picked up a little MP Sport 15-22 for the wife to plink around with and for when i want to put a lot of rounds down range without breaking the freakin' bank. And spent quite a bit more than i wanted and got a Ruger 1911. Seems like the reviews are mixed on them and from what i've heard their groupings aren't exactly the greatest, but its a range gun so i'll live. Biggest downside is its not 9mm, wasn't a fan of the 9mm 1911s they had, plus i refused to buy a 9mm 1911. So its a .45 which from what i read online isn't terrible due to the heavier bullet rather than higher velocity, or something along those lines. I now have a month or two until i get another Pistol permit and the 31 day's pass to look into some other handguns in 9mm. I Held the ones i thought i would like and they just didn't seem right. Even the glock 19 which i liked when it was the fake demo one just didn't feel right, and they were sold out of them. Held a few others including the M9 (i believe) and i simply was not a fan. Spent a bit more than i'd like but i got a gun that i've wanted for year's. Was hoping to get a 9mm first and then the 1911 but it can wait, haha. Thanks for all the help! Now to find a nice rail/handguard for the 400 and locate a place with some darn AR mag's in stock.
  21. Might be better off with the Gen4 then, my hand is fairly small but couldn't hurt to be able to adjust it. Would you say the Gen4 would be worth the price difference?
  22. Out of curiosity, what is the difference between Gen3's and Gen4's other than the slightly changed frame? I Got a number for a guy who is apparently dirt cheap. My friend got his SP2022 for 100$ less than anyone else was asking, so i figured i'd call him and order everything through that guy. I emailed him a little while ago just to get an idea of what he would be looking at so that i can compare his prices to the rest. I decided to stretch my budget a bit if it means getting something i want; I'm not going to buy a POS because i don't want to spend 50-100$ more. So my budget for the AR Jumped to around 1500$ O.T.D. and 600$ for the handgun, also out the door. We'll see what happens haha. Looking at the Sig M400 Enhanced and going to add rails to that for a flashlight rather than get one with a rail system, plus i can always just put a rail system on it.
  23. n4, anything specific? Looks like their complete rifles are well over 1500$, only a handfull are below that. I Can get the upper and lower seperately, but wanted to avoid doing so.
  24. Many towns seem to attempt to make it impossible to obtain an FID, unfortunately. I Got lucky here in Woodbridge; though they restrict you to only a few hours every wednesday for applications, mine should be in by week 4 (This upcoming wednesday). I'd suggest you find a good lawyer that is familiar with the laws and ask them for advice. I've never heard of such an unprofessional response, to be honest. They probably do that so that they can delay the process.. Do what that guy said.. get it recorded or in writing. Being from Phila has nothing to do with the process. Maybe he's worried your speeding tickets wont show up on the background check? haha.
  25. Not sure myself, i was fairly disappointed though i did hear that quite a few insist on seeing an FID to hold it. My friend offered his FID and asked if he could allow me to hold it (IE He vouch for me) and they refused to let me hold anything whatsoever. Unfortunate for them, as i am a cash buyer looking to spend 3,000$+ in the next week, haha. They were asking like 750$ for the S&W MP 15-22 which IIRC is a 450-500$ Rifle, and an SP2022 which my friend paid 460+tax for, they wanted 560+tax for so its not like they are cheap or anything. I'll probably just order what i want elsewhere/go to other stores. Not like theres a shortage of gun stores, which was actually quite surprising to me.
