  1. Greetings all, Will be picking up my new Weatherby Vanguard in 6.5 CM this week and plan on getting to the range shortly after. I'm new to the rifle scene, and purchased this mainly to have some fun at medium distances at the range, but also would like to plan my first hunting trip come the fall as well. Before I set out to shoot with it over the next week or 2, just wanted to ask if there is a proper break in technic one should do for the barrel? It's #2 contour, 24 inch, and I'll be adding on a JCB Solutions 3 port mini break (already have it). Any pointers so I can make sure I get the most out of this rifle would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Is turkey hunting in NJ (spring) really on a lottery system for tags? Or am I reading the wrong information?
  3. Yeah idk, it's all good I have 2 other shops I've been in touch with that have been helpful. I'll proceed with one of them. Both of which are less than half what RTSP was quoting me. Met both in person as well, good people.
  4. All good, moreso just making sure it's not rust. Mainly for resale purposes and wanting to know if there is anything I should do to fix it for future sale purposes, before it gets worse. Contemplating selling it for a different shotgun anyways.
  5. Thoughts? It's gotten worse over the years but can't tell if it's just stain of some sort or actual corrosion? Doesn't actually look like rust, and it's only on this section, no where else.
  6. Got it, thanks Does it need to be plugged down to 2+1 or can you get away with the tube still fitting 3?
  7. Can a magazine plug be used on a pump or only semi auto?
  8. I've noticed on NJ and some other states that there is a restriction on shotgun capacity for turkey hunting, not being capable of holding more than 3 shells. What shotgun has a max capacity of 3 shells?
  9. Interesting I wonder why it works that way
  10. Good to know, thanks
  11. I think I've narrowed it down to using Cherry Ridge as a more regular practice spot since it's the closest 1.5 hours. Tommy Gun Greeley as an occasional trip out. Sheepdog was pretty far as well, so maybe take a visit at some point. Thanks for all the help.
  12. I've called them 3 times this week and emailed, can't get anyone to answer.
  13. Hmm well that doesn't sound enjoyable. I've been looking into Cherry Ridge
  14. Even as a member, only that last weekend is open range?
  15. Lol I've dealt with him before, he's a good dude.
  16. Emailed with Steve, quoted 140. Comparable to Elmer but a hell of a lot closer.
  17. That's insane. Comparing that to what RTSP quoted me is absolutely insane. Meaning the prices you just stated are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Will check it out, thank you!
  18. Located in Monmouth county. Looking for a reputable shop to do some compliancy work on an AR (stock pin, muzzle brake supply and pin/weld, file bayonet lug). Looking for suggestions based on positive experience and good pricing. Spoke with RTSP in Randolph today and their pricing was crazy, would cost me more than the entire rifle. Willing to drive up to about an hour.
  19. Cumberland sounds nice but looks like it requires knowing an existing member to be your sponsor and they only do membership intake once per year. New Holland membership is closed and a lottery system will be in place for 2025. Anyone know of old bridge rifle is still open? I called today but no answer. I see another of match and comp events on calendar but no info about just open range time. So far best I got is a 50 yard lane at rtsp union.
  20. Does anyone here do anything other than clean their guns after each range trip? I was always adamant about cleaning as soon as I got home from the range. However, my current living situation is a bit unique right now. My wife amnd I sold our home and are staying with family. They are not gun friendly people therefore my guns are at an FFL storage facility. When I do start going back to the range I'll need to first pick up the guns, go to range, drop guns back off, then go home. I'll have no where to really clean them before returning to storage, as most ranges I know of don't have anywhere that they will let you sit down to break down firearms and clean them. So my choices would likely be to drop them at a gunsmith for a cleaning every once in a while for the duration that we are still living with family. In doing so, due to cost, I'd prefer to not do this after every trip. I'm speaking in regard to mainly long runs. Long range hunting rifles or shotguns where maybe they are each getting 30-50 rounds put through them per range session. Any real harm in not cleaning these after each trip? Can I hold off for 2-3 trips, maybe every 2 or 3 months have a cleaning done?
  21. Tommy Gun and Sheepdog are both about 2.5 hours from me, was hoping to have a resource a little closer than that. Willing to go out of state, PA or NY, but would like the ride to be under 2 hours ideally. Any suggestions from Monmouth County to a 2 hour window out of state?
  22. Rifle No where with more than 100? How about PA or any bordering area? How about PA or any bordering area?
