In the event of a state government shutdown, no NICS checks will be processed on Saturday, July 1, 2017. In addition, for the week of July 3, 2017, with the exception of the July 4th holiday, NICS checks will be processed on a limited basis in the order that they are received. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hope no one had their sights set on a new addition to the family today.

Disappointing. I was hoping for something that goes boom.

Have no fear, my wife bought sparklers. We will be the life of the party now....

There are ways to make sparklers do what you want. Just takes a little red neck ingenuity. ;)

Yes for just $600 you can help NRA take credit when legislatures in other states expand their citizens' gun rights.

How do you expect the NRA to magically make things better in this state when "we" keep on allowing gun grabbing leftist assholes to be elected each election cycle? If it's true that there are over 1 million gun owners in NJ, that's a pretty big voting bloc that needs to take action. The NRA can only do so much.

On another note, i got something in the mail the other day and they're doing ez pay life for $600. I might take them up on that.

Since when does Glock offer a 15 round magazine for the Glock 17?? Your only choice is the optional 10 round magazine.

They're not factory direct from Glock, but I've seen pinned G17 mags at a few shops in central NJ. Just need to find a shop that does compliance work like Howell Gun Works or Monmouth Arms. :)

  5. I was poking around over at the event list at US Law Shield and saw that Nappen and another attorney are doing an event at the Golden Nugget on June 10.

Seems to be sponsored by ANJRPC, but I don't recall seeing anything in the last few newsletters about it. I went to a US Law Shield seminar with Nappen about two weeks ago and was well worth the $10, but I want a bit more. :)

Welcome to "GUNSTOCK 2017" a fun and informative day of firearm discussion and advice from the top legal minds in the industry. Attorney Evan Nappen will explain New Jersey gun law from purchasing your first firearm all the way to what the law says about possessing a firearm in and outside of your home. Attorney Mike Giaramita will discuss the law of justified use of deadly force and how to be prepared for the aftermath of a critical incident. The day will include raffles and giveaways, located in the heart of Atlantic City!

Try Cheyenne Mountain Outfitters in Bordentown. Big selections on handguns and ARs. I have bought all my firearms from Cheyenne. The prices are a bit high compared to other places but I still buy from them because never ever had a problem and the background check are quick.

I don't believe that the shop has any influence on the background check time. That's all on the state police AFAIK.

  7. According to HK's Facebook post on this, you should buy 2 magazines and you will be given the third when your order processes. They did a similar deal on black Friday. Unfortunately, I emailed them to find out whether I should add 2 or 3 to my cart for the deal, but they didn't get back to me in time. You'd think that they would simply add a sentence about it... For whatever reason, I didn't think to check their FB page then, but I wound up getting some mags from Prepper Gun Shop for around the same price though, so it worked out.

On a related note, Sig also has magazines on sale for 20% off this weekend (except for P320 mags, of course ).

  8. I've never been asked whether I have any guns in the vehicle, but I wonder if responding with "I don't have anything illegal in the vehicle" would fly? You're sort of evading the question, and I'm sure some officers would catch it, but as long as you're within an exemption, you're not lying. Your next step would obviously be to politely decline any requests to search you or your vehicle.

The biggest thing IMO is to drive within the laws so you don't get pulled over in the first place. Then, don't give the officer probable cause, i.e. keep the inside of your car clean, and make sure your guns are cased (but not in "gun cases") or, ideally, in the trunk where s/he cannot see them.

  9. Welcome to the forums, and my condolences on your future move to this gun-hating state. I would highly recommend getting Attorney Evan Nappen's book and read/memorize it. NJ doesn't mess around when it comes to ruining your life if you make one little mistake with your guns. As far as I am aware, every NJ state "gun crime" is a felony level crime with a minimum mandatory 3-5 years (even simple possession), so beware.

Sure, if that's what we call standard FID size. Lamination only overhangs maybe 1/16".

Pretty lame for an important document in 2017, should at LEAST be a imprinted card w/ picture... I mean even Costco has them haha ;)

Be careful what you wish for. I'm sure that if they did go to that type of card, we'd be forced to renew (and be fingerprinted) every year or two and be forced to wait even longer than we already do.

I have to say I was at Cheyenne the past weekend and am very happy with the service I received. Picked their brains about shotguns and shouldered a bunch. Very helpful and friendly. Will definitely consider them when buying. Good selection of guns around and prices were compatible.

Judging by the crowd and the service I got last time, I wouldn't doubt that Cheyanne Mountain is a good place to shop for a shotgun, especially for hunting purposes. The guy I dealt with wasn't rude or anything like that, he just didn't seem too knowledgeable about 9mm pistols. His only input when I asked about the VP9 was something to the effect of "that's a really nice gun." He couldn't even tell me why the one model (with night sights) cost more than the other. He also didn't seem too enthused about putting other striker 9s in my hands like other shops. Sale was lost when he realized they were sold out of the model I wanted and would have to come back in a week or so.

With all of that said, I'd have no hesitation to shop for hunting guns at Cheyanne Mountain. I'd certainly shop there before going to Dick's (unless I already knew what I wanted and Dick's had the exact model at a great price, and even then I'd think twice about it).

  12. Largest selections near me (northern ocean county) are probably Howell Gun Works and Gargen State Shooting Center. The service I've gotten at HGW has been great...my first pistol was from HGW.  GSSC has been good as well, but I've not bought a firearm from them yet.

Monmouth Arms has been my go-to for my last few additions. Steve doesn't have the inventory of HGW or GSSC, but the prices tend to be a little better. He tends to keep his inventory updated on his website, so I'd recommend checking that or shooting him an email if you're looking for something specific.

I wasn't impressed with the service when I was there last, but Cheyenne Mountain also has a very large selection. Maybe it was because I was the only person under 50 and not talking about hunting at the gun counter?

As I mentioned before, Page 104 of Evan Nappen's book (C)2015 covers GUN CLUBS and the special exemptions provided by being a member of an appropriately chartered one.

I won't attempt to copy it all here, for various reasons, and suggest those of you who have it, look at the page referenced.

Since I am now a member of U.S. Law Shield, which has Nappen's firm on board as the primary firm in case of need, I'll stick with the answers of "I do not answer questions. Here are my papers as required by law.", "I do not consent to any searches of my vehicle or person.", and finally "I am exercising my right to remain silent." if confronted for any reason by law enforcement while traveling, as recommended by the same Evan Nappen.

Otherwise, if I choose to transport any firearm with me on a day I plan on going to the range, I will do so, in compliance with the transport regulations, and under the exemptions provided.

Finally, there's a seminar on May 21st that Evan will be speaking at and will probably have a Q&A at the end.  I encourage everyone to attend that can.  If not, there will be more.

Register as a non-member (unless you are a member of SCFGPA) and select pay later, and pay the $10 at the door.

This will be my last on this topic.  You are all big boys and girls; go make your own decisions.

Nice. Do these ever get cancelled if they don't get enough attendees? Looks like there's one in New Egypt on Tuesday, which is only about 35 minutes from work, but they've got 136 seats left. I'd hate to drive out that way after work to find out it's been cancelled.
