Why bother negotiating? Like you said it's only money, can't take it with you.

Exactly right, I don't care... but it makes wifey feel better, thinking she got a deal. And, any money I can extract from the dealer, is a win in my book.

    got the v8?

No, I wanted the V6. More importantly, I wanted a SUV I could flat tow behind the RV. None of our existing vehicles were capable of that.

But honestly, if you don't need a vehicle now.  Just wait.  I think you'll me MUCH happier.

Wifey went out to "tire kick" and look at new Cherokees... When her first phone call came in while I was at home, I knew I was in trouble... Damn, I was negotiating with the dealer on the phone, while texting her info/documents to hammer him with. Doncha know, a new Cherokee followed her home...  :shok:  :dontknow:

Mary Street is going to be almost a 2 mile walk to get to the Battery and my guess is that most of what you would want to see is down in that area.  I think the Harris Teeter lot on East Bay could be another option for you.

Thanks, I thought that it would be a hike from Mary Street. The Harris Teeter lot would work, I can fit in a double head to head space, as long as there isn't an island in the middle.

  4. This is what I figured would happen. With big chunks of employees out sick, it would only ADD to the supply line and labor issues.

U.S. economy slows sharply during omicron wave, Markit surveys show

Record spread of new coronavirus strain exacerbates labor and supply shortages

The U.S. economy dropped down to a slower gear in January amid a record outbreak of coronavirus cases that intensified labor and supply shortages, according to pair of IHS Markit surveys of senior business executives.

A “flash” index of service-oriented companies tumbled to an 18-month low of 50.9 from 57.6 in the final month of 2021, IHS Markit said. A similar gauge of manufacturers dropped to 55 from 57.7 in December — a 15-month low.

The flash IHS surveys give the first clear indication of the damage done to the U.S. economy in the first month of the new year.

There are plenty of commercial open parking lots in town.  I can probably also come up with a visitor residential parking pass for you so you can park anywhere south of Broad.

I was looking around on the satellite map of downtown, searching for open lots that it will fit in. It's a busy area. I've read a lot of good reviews about that parking garage on Mary St., I just don't know how far away it is from all the hot spots?

You might want to check out The Barrel, outdoor place towards Folly Beach where the dogs can run around.

Bringfido is always my go to source when going into a new area to give me some ideas. In most cases, when we go to the dog friendly taverns, he gets better service then we do from the staff... :drinks:  I'm going to make HIM pay the bill next time...  :mutley:

    Things could get fugly soon.

Looks like the "fugly-ness" is continuing today.

NASDAQ down another 3% right now, other indexes getting pounded too.

Even Bitcoin taking it in the shorts again..

Gold/Silver not holding up to being a safe haven....

Man, my brass/lead investment is the best horse in the stable!  Time to buy more ammo maybe?

Here's the list I keep that I share with anyone visiting us:

That's an awesome list. Thanks so much, there's a lot to see...

I have a couple of curve balls, first I'm rolling into town in my RV, so downtown parking can be a challenge. I saw a parking garage on Mary St. by the visitor's center that states it's high enough for it. Know of any other places/ parking lots?

Also going to have the 4 legged co-pilot with us, so he'll probably go with us for the downtown walk, so I'll need to find a dog friendly tavern for lunch.

I'm thinking on hitting Patriots Point and Ft. Moultrie the second day, and there's plenty of parking over there, so the RV shouldn't be an issue.

Then, I'll need to do a plantation tour for wifey... you know, equal opportunity, and all that crap...

Petsmart was telling me they just unloaded pet Halloween costumes a week or two ago. That should give you some perspective of how much crap is on ships.

WOW.....   I was actually wondering about that, how much stuff was still on ships? There should be some great Xmas sales.... at Easter...:shok:

I don't think someone has looked at vehicle prices right now if you are seriously asking that question.

I have been looking for wifey.... but, it's only money, you can't take it with you.. :scratchhead:

In reality, a few grand over the life of the vehicle, isn't a big deal, when looking at the prices of new SUVs.

A bigger issue is finding the vehicle in the configuration we want, with such a limited inventory.

Stock up on pet food. Alot of the good brands are disappearing.

    Yep....

I've seen a lot of reports about canned cat food being in short supply, although I don't have a cat, that would concern me. I've been staying ahead on the dog food supply, because my four legged friend would get REALLY pissed off if I didn't feed him..:mutley: I've had a difficult time buying the specific brand/flavor I want for him.

  11. It looks like we're safe... for now.... they can't even get a SMART gun to fire two rounds in a row...

"Smart gun" can't fire two rounds consecutively

....."However, there are problems with these kinds of firearms. We all know it. I’ve talked about a few of them.

One of the big ones is reliability. The more whizzbangs you put in a device, the higher the likelihood of failure becomes.

Last week, we lambasted reports of a new “smart gun” that Reuters raved about in a glowing “exclusive.” Reuters reporter Daniel Trotta wrote that the third-generation prototype fired “without issue” during a live-fire demonstration for investors and the media.

Now though, additional footage of the event has since surfaced that shows the LodeStar Works gun couldn’t manage to fire two rounds without an issue during one of the exercises.

    Whoops.

We can clearly see the shooter state he’s going to fire two rounds. He fires one, then pulls the trigger several more times, only the weapon doesn't fire.

Yeah, that’s the reliability thing we were talking about.

Didn't you just recently sell all your gold and silver coins and other personal items? And now, trying to make money speculating on crypto?

The numbers appear to  speeding towards where they were back in July...maybe lower.

Kinda looks that way. Down another 8% today. I thought it would get some action, as a safe haven, since the regular market got hammered this week. Nope, they both are heading South.

....."Cryptocurrencies continued their dramatic slide on Saturday, with bitcoin losing nearly half of its value since hitting its November high.

Bitcoin, the world’s most valuable cryptocurrency by market value, tumbled about 8% on Saturday to trade just above $35,000. The coin hit a record high of $69,000 in November.

Meantime, ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, sank nearly 10% to trade around $2,400.

    Patriots Point hands down...

    Ft. Moultrie....

Thanks for those suggestions. They're definitely on the list. I also wanted to see Ft. Sumter, but I'll have poochie with us, and since it's a boat ride over to the fort, I don't want to leave him long term in the RV.

I saw King St is a happening place, so we'll have to hit one of them for lunch. Wifey will probably want to see one of the mansions too, so I'll have to give in and see one.
