  1. I will start by saying I have never hunted before. The primary reason I was working towards getting the license was to be able to use the state shooting ranges. I'm open to trying hunting as it does seem like a good skill to have if needed. My question is that I completed the online course and scheduled the in person live fire session back in September. Three days prior to my scheduled day I tore all three rotator cuff tendons in my right shoulder. Needless to say I couldn't attend the session. I did have surgery to repair them but my surgeon says no shooting for me till February. Will I need to start from scratch next year and take the online course again? It's not hard but it is time consuming.  Thanks in advance.

  2. I just received my first Garand from the CMP this week and shot it yesterday. I have a new favorite gun.it is a RM1 Service. Receiver is Springfield apparently manufactured in 3/44. It is in great shape. It did come with new wood which is okay by me as I plan to shoot this a opposed to looking at it as collectible. What a joy to shoot.

I just did the nra bit class the other Saturday and on sunday the basic pistol instructor class at union hill gun club.  With roc training. Rocco Larocca.  I did the nra rso class a few years back. Thank you Rosey for letting me know about the classes.  If anyone out there wants to do any of these classes. Contact him at union hill.  Great instructor

I was there as well. I have re-try the shooting qualification again.

  4. I recently bought a used RIA 1911 from a FFL(Texas) through Gunbroker. The guy was highly rated and I must say the transaction went well. I still haven't been able to take it home from my FFL here due OGAM but I have handled it and it was just as stated in the description. I got what I thought was a decent deal and  I would be willing to try it again for the right opportunity.

I had a similar problem when I was a teenager. My father wasn't against guns just didn't want any in his home.

As I asked before I don't know how many guns you have, but I only see one other solution. If you don't have that many, could you leave them at your FIL's or at another friend's house. You could also buy a small safe and leave it at a friend's house.

The other suggestion is if you have any friend's that are gun owner's that have their own safe, do they have room for yours?

Long guns are one thing but I don't think this works for handguns given the law.

  6. Hate to say it but if gun ownership is something you're passionate about and she is still unwilling meet you half way with some of the ideas around safes and others that were tossed around here, you will end up losing far more over time than just your guns. I totally understand the safety concern with kids and support assuring they can't access the firearms but she is just repudiating something you believe in and stand for.
