what bcg are you using?  primer cratering is light but present so my guess is you are using a 308 instead of 6.5 bcg (has smaller gas port hole and is made for higher pressure)  dollars to donuts you will see a better primer pop if this is your culprit

It's the stock one on ther rifle. TC LRR

  2. I had use CCI 400 primers. Though it wasn't really a question about primers. It's the cases I was more concerned about. Primers look good to me but I can switch to thicker ones. From what I've read, Starline small primer still has a larger flash hole.

Given the precision of the rounds, I don't see any really reason for going higher with loads. I'll probably experiment between 39.5-40gr. I see people online saying their normal 6.5 CM load is 43gr of H4350 but I'm fine where I'm at.

Do you have a saami case gauge for the caliber?

Yes, I checked every round just to be certain before using them. No issues. It seems just like a cosmetic thing but I wanted to be sure.

  3. Fired some 6.5 Creedmoor yesterday. Loaded it based on Sierra's manual.

    2.810" C.O.A.L.

    Fresh Starline brass

Hodgdon H4350 40gr (RCBS Charmaster, double checked on my Lee Safety Scale). Hodgdon says 38.8-41.5gr. Sierra says 39.2-41.9gr. Saw a lot of people having success between 41-41.5gr so I thought I'd back it off a grain.

    142gr SMK

Well, as you can see at 100 yards indoors, it proved accurate. But I have some questions about the brass and I've seen some ambiguous things online.

20191202_215417 - Unused brass, brand new.

20191202_215449 - Once fired, loaded as mentioned.

20191202_21439 - Primers of those three rounds.

20191202_215707 - Once fired American Eagle 120gr OTM

So for the once fired, Starline brass, I see three lines all about the same distance. Is this from pressure? The primers look normal as pictured. I see no issues the rest of the cases. Read https://sierrabulletsblog.com/2015/08/12/reloading-101-case-diagnostics/ and It looks like example #5. It looks cosmetic and there's no bulge.

Am I just imagining things and this isn't actually an issue at all? Just want to be thorough and check with other people experienced in reloading.

The question now is how did a 17yr old get procession of a handgun? I may be in the minority here, but if it belonged to a family member and was not secured, that family member needs to be held responsible.

Agreed. Responsible ownership needs to be stressed.

Thank God the resource officer reacted so fast and no one innocent got hurt.

Hired hands protesting in front of SCOTUS today, not prepped very well, couldn't answer basic questions. Hang on while I prepare my shocked face.

    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bethbaumann/2019/12/02/nra-asked-anti-gunners-the-name-of-the-scotus-case-they-were-protesting-their-re-n2557367

I bet most people, regardless of stance on 2A, couldn't actually name the case off-hand.

Honestly, I'm confused as to why so many people think there will be a huge change in history from this case. It sounds like Roberts wants to punt this down the road so it doesn't get blown out of proportion. But even if they hear it, what landmark ruling are people expecting to happen? This is a case on whether or not you can carry guns outside the city and between your own properties. I have a hard time believing it would even be a close vote. But it's not like we'll suddenly gain an abundance of new freedoms.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! Defintily a help and appreciate the quick responses.

Whats everyone do for chamber flags? Just buy their 6 bright yellow zipties for a buck? Or is there something better out there or something just as easy to make.

Anyone go through on a regular occasion? or any NJGF informal meetups there?

I've been struggling to find a nice weekend when I'm not busy to go. Usually try for 8-9 AM arrival time cause it can get crowded.

Still need to get some chronograph time in.

  7. Load that table up. It's yours to do with it as you please.

Plan ahead for cease fires, have all your targets and related gear off the bench and ready to go when they give you the green light to head  down range.  If you touch anything on the bench during a ceasefire, be prepared for a dressing down.

I don't recommend their targets on a stick, the ones that you have to use a post hole digger to plant.  They suck in so many ways.  Difficult to see hits and half the time the wind rips them off the stake, or blows them over.  All of their other targets are good.

If you save your brass, do not pick up anything over the red line while the range is hot.  You can only pick up brass that lands over the line during a cease fire.  After you check your targets, pick up brass before you cross the line and post a red flag. or is it green flag?  fuck, whatever.  Just pick up brass on the pad and on the dirt at the appropriate times.

That guy on the mic is funny. But yea, he'll be quick to call out anything stupid.

I use one of their targets, but I staple my own splatter targets over it so I can better see where I hit. If it's not windy, they work well.

If the RSO knows you are picking up your own brass, they've sometime swept up my used brass into a pile behind me to make it easier to pick up. Cool folks.

    Red = Range is hot

    Green = Range is clear

  8. Which law specifically are you questioning? Will it be treated like firing an actual gun in close proximity to neighbors? I'd imagine so. That's a town ordinance thing. You'd have to check your town's ordinances to see the punishment. Many have limits as to how far you have to be from a house or school.

There is absolutely nothing in this store that is priced so good its worth purchasing. Realistically, you can buy ammo anywhere online that is cheaper on a normal day, let alone when everyone else is running huge sales.

The only thing i will buy at dicks, as a matter of convenience is hunting licenses and stamps, because they make ZERO dollars on that stuff, and the only other place to get them is Walmart around here.

Dick's has higher prices than pretty much anywhere else.

Hmmm... on Myers-Briggs though (which this does seem to be based on) - I usually come out as E"N"FP. That's probably because that second score is really close on the mid-point of the Intuitive vs Sensing scale - so it could easily swing either way.

Now, what I'd like to see is for everyone on here to take a test for sociopathy! :o That would be telling....

You can't do this and not share your own! NOT FAIR!! :p

Usually people have one of those traits that can flip whereas they are firm with the other three.

    Was the round a reload.

That'd be my guess. My co-worker was just telling me about this problem. Always a good lunch story from him about things he's seen and reloading topics.

Cheap 223 tool. Insert, lock the bolt, pull the bolt back and it yanks the case head out. Not sure about 5.7 though. It MIGHT work since 5.56 is just a hair smaller than 5.7.
