  1. I have the Shadow 2, DA/SA and no de-cocker.  It is by far the best shooting handgun I own.

As many have already mentioned, it is designed to be holstered cocked and locked. There is also a half cocked position in which the safety can be selected on.  Under USPSA production rules, apparently this gun has to have the hammer down when holstered.  When the hammer is down, the safety cannot be selected on and the hammer is resting on the firing pin.

I have no idea why their rules are such for this model and I don't shoot USPSA so perhaps others could shed some light on this.  In the 3 Gun matches I have participated in I carry with the hammer cocked and safety on.  It is an amazing gun, and as safe as any other when used correctly.  And as with any firearm, its solid, safe handling practices when drawing and holstering that matter.

This incident is just terribly tragic.  I cannot imagine the pain this family and individual are going through.

  2. You can bet they are all foaming at the mouth ready to move on more aggressive gun control measures.  I think HOW they go about it depends on what happens with the balance of power in the Senate and whether or not the current makeup of the SCOTUS is likely to remain.

If the SCOTUS stays protected at 9, then I think we see less legislative measures like gun control "bills" and instead the aggressive use of agencies like the ATF overstep their position (no surprise) and just start declaring current items off limits.

If they can mess with the SCOTUS and the Senate falls to the Ds then there will be major legislative bills rammed through the House.

I definitely think it's going to get ugly before it gets any better.

The firearm you describe is no different, in the eyes of NJ law, than a .44 magnum

Check your local ordinances to see if there is a prohibition in your municipality on the discharge of firearms within the boundaries of the municipality.

If no prohibition, then be safe and make a safe range with an adequate backstop.

If there is a local prohibition, you're screwed. Do it in the house if you choose to violate the law. And don't tell the neighbors. The Karen next door can't wait to file a complaint and put you through the wringer.

    +1

Unfortunately in this sad excuse for a state, that .177 cal pellet gun is a "firearm".

Do what you like and take measures for safety but I certainly wouldn't advertise it.

  4. Ive found it varies from mag to mag.  All of mine are Pmags, either 10/20s or 10/30s.  When loaded to 10 some will seat on a closed bolt with a little force, others will not at all. YMMV as manufactures are personally moving these, not Magpul, and they are cautious of not leaving much room after that 10th round.  A little break in in the materials helps too.

  5. Shot a couple of mags in a friends Staccato and it was great.  After buying three other handguns and building the Radian the last few months I'm not about to spend the money on one just yet.  It's certainly on the list for a future purchase though.

  6. While there is always a good reason to buy another gun... There is never a good reason to make that purchase a revolver!

    Jk

I actually do have one revolver, a colt replica single action, and it's fun as hell but will likely be the only one.  Best bet, browse the internet and sign up for every "notify when in stock" option you can.  Then when the email does come in you need to jump on it quickly.  I've found a Glock, Walther and my HK during this shortage and those emails helped tremendously.

  7. The PPQ is a bit of a pain to disassemble the first time since you need a decent amount of force to punch out the slide lock as the left side press fit into the right.  After that, it's easier to do on subsequent strips.

I haven't had this particular problem with the spring but have heard of it before.  The PPQ has it's quirks but is still decent shooter.  Ultimately, I still prefer my VP9, CZ, and Glocks.

The numbers were just not there for us so why take up a case that can further damage our 2A rights?  With ACB, I am sure they will take the cases and most likely rule in our favor going forward!

This.   I don't think Gorsuch or Kavanaugh have had the opportunity to show us how they really stand on the 2A since it would have been reckless to take those cases knowing Robert's support would do to the lib side.  Actually think that's a strong indication they would rule favorably on the matter once a case is granted cert.

With Barrett getting a seat, and a few potential cases in the pipeline, we may get a chance to watch it play out.

  9. Just waiting on optics.  Holosun 510C w/ magnifier on the way.

    - Radian Model 1 lower, upper, and handguard

    - Wilson Combat 14.7 barrel w/ Surefire Socom brake (will pick up a warden as well)

    - JP adj. gas block

    - Sharps Rifle Co. Enhanced BCG

    - Geissele SSA trigger

  10. VG6 Cage device, as mentioned above, or the Surfire SOCOM brake which accepts the Warden blast shield.  Neither require threads.  The surefire setup is awesome IMO.  One of the best brakes on the market and the Warden definitely eases the concussion.
