  1. Wondering if anyone has come across decent deals on .223 or 5.56 in local stores, preferably in North Jersey. I scheduled some last minute trigger time on Saturday and won't have time to source ammo from my usual online vendors. Not looking for a steal (although it'd be nice), but average/consistent pricing (≈ $0.40/round). Thanks!
  2. FYI, this knife design was licensed by Benchmade from a company called Spartan Blades. Here's the original: http://spartanbladesusa.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=98 I have one knife from them...the Enyo...and it's one of my favorite blades. Ridiculously ergonomic, super well-made and easily the sharpest out of the box, even among the high end knives in my collection. Not sure how the Benchmade stacks up, but if you're willing to drop the extra $60, I can't recommend Spartan Blades enough.
  3. Anyone know any shops in northern NJ or PA (RT-78 or RT-80 area) that carry a good selection of air rifles?
  4. Original article (with redaction): http://www.nytimes.c...al-arsenal.html
  5. There's one on BladeForums right now for $190. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/949318-A-D-O-by-Microtech
  6. In case anyone's interested, I posted a kit dump towards the beginning of 2011. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23046-small-light-first-aid-kit/page__view__findpost__p__307370 Had to use it a few times over the past year (most recently in Haiti) and was able to treat everything from a deep puncture wound to minor burns.
  7. This would be a great investment for a range. I would pay a few bucks after some port time to skip cleaning at home. What's the turnaround time on a handgun? Also, just remembered...was at a BBQ in Wyckoff over the summer on the same street as these guys: http://www.guncleaners.com/ Any experience with their product?
  8. Not sure if anyone's done this one in NYC: Blackuut NYC I still haven't gone, but a bunch of friends went and said it was the scariest thing they've ever done. The idea of walking though solo (mandatory) is pretty intimidating.
  9. Just came across this on the interwebs: Huge List of The Best Gun Quotes
  10. BBK, let me know your thoughts on the Native. I picked up mine a few weeks ago and love it. Super lightweight and fits the hand really well.
  11. I loved Anthony's suggestion on GFH Radio...start a company that produces single-shot, stamped steel guns for $25 for the specific purpose of selling them to gun buyback programs.
  12. +1 on anything by Emerson, as well as the Spyderco Native. Just picked up a Native, it's one of the lightest and most ergonomic knives I've handled.
  13. Please do, I've been debating this purchase.
  14. Was this class (held on 7/9) well received/attended? Any plans for another one? I've heard great things about the Atienza classes but had a wedding that day...
  15. I think I need to change my underwear after coming across this thread!!! Morris County has needed a range since Ray's went under. Super excited and can't freakin' wait!
  16. I've shot here with a member, great range. All outdoor: pistol range (steel targets), 100yd. rifle and trap. It's extremely difficult to join, you need to be sponsored by a current member (they are prohibited from sponsoring anyone during a lengthy initial probationary period).
  17. Joel, any advice on where to buy a Clinch Pick? Chris demo'ed it in a MDTS tactical folder class last summer, but I've never seen one for sale (even on the secondhand BladeForums market).
  18. I sometimes EDC an Emerson La Griffe. The knife came with the Kydex sheath, which I attached to a small Blade-Tech Tek-lok. The whole thing clips on my belt for centerline carry. The primary reason I don't EDC this knife on the regular is comfort. Personally, daily carry of a 4" fixed blade would be very tough.
  19. http://www.knifeblog.com/ Blog by the guys who run BladeHQ.com. First couple of posts are about last weekend's Blade Show in Atlanta. Some great pics to drool over.
  20. Shot a couple of Airsoft guns for the first time ever this past weekend and discovered... ...they're freaking awesome! I grew up playing paintball and always had some disdain/prejudice against Airsoft. Basically, I thought the plastic crap they sell at Dick's was representative of all Airsoft guns. I was totally wrong! Shot a Thompson M1A1 that was an exact replica of the real thing, right down to the weight. Made me wish Airsoft existed when I was a kid!
