  1. There are several groups in NJ that work very hard at protecting and improving our rights as NJ gun owners. I think it is important to point out that we each have a role to play. I believe that the NJ2AS is becoming a strong voice in the fight to bring sanity and respect to the way gun owners are treated in NJ, but there are many ways to accomplish our goals. Scott Bach and the ANJRPC have been working arduously behind the scenes on EVERY aspect of gun rights. His group devotes a lot of hours, manpower, money, legal maneuvering, lobbying, etc. to improving our lot. There are reasons why we don't always "see" the work they are doing. They were very instrumental in providing information and encouragement to those responsible for gaining Brian Aitken's release. I do not want this to pass by unnoticed. There are a number of things you can do. Scott is asking everyone who agrees with Governor Christie's decision to release Brian, to write and/or call Governor Christie and thank him for doing the right thing. This is more important than you might imagine. We do not want to take this decision for granted. The Governor needs to know that we recognize how well he handled a difficult situation. I know that we all have opinions about what could or should have happened, but let's at least express that we are grateful that Brian will no longer be sitting in prison. That is a major accomplishment, and we cannot afford to take it for granted. If you are not an ANJRPC member, consider joining. It is a worthwhile organization. Even if you just join as a non-range member, you will be helping the cause. Also, send Scott an email thanking him for his role in Brian's release. I am sure he will appreciate it, and I *KNOW* that he deserves it. Sometimes, the most important influences happen quietly. Please keep that in mind. Thank you, and Merry Christmas,
  2. We are glad it all worked out so well. Anthony runs a GREAT program. We are very fortunate to have him working with us. Here is something you guys in the forum already know - GUN PEOPLE ARE THE *BEST* PEOPLE!!!
  3. And, BTW - this has NOTHING to do with LEOs *OR* their methods. This is simply "rights 101". They are looking for "bad guys". That is their job. It is nothing personal. In most cases, they have *NO* idea who YOU are, and *YOU* have no idea who *THEY* are. Their job is to catch bad guys, your job is to protect your rights at all costs. It doesn't MATTER that you have nothing to hide. The rule of thumb is be polite, "SHUT YOUR MOUTH", and if in doubt - ask for a lawyer to be present to protect your rights. I don't know about *YOU*, but I am not confident enough about MY knowledge of NJ's convoluted, draconian, firearms statutes to defend myself. It takes a professional. And most of THEM don't know either - but at least they will keep you quiet until they can figure it out. The police are NOT our enemies, but the "law" *CAN* be. They are two *VERY* different things. The statement that "Anything you say CAN and WILL be held against you" is NOT an idle threat. It is standard procedure. Add to the mix a politically motivated prosecutor, and who do you think will fry? You have *NO* obligation to submit to a search. so DON'T! Shut up, sit down and wait! Nothing is more important than your freedom. Ask Brian.
  4. I am curious. If your handgun is unloaded, and locked in the trunk of your car, why in THEE hell would you even consent to a search. First rule of thumb - there is never a good reason to speak with a LEO without an attorney present. Never consent to a search. If they have probable cause, let them produce it. Otherwise, a warrant is needed. In either case, you have a right to have an attorney present. If a LEO wants to search you or your car, ASSUME you need an attorney, and demand one. Your rights are SACROSANCT! PERIOD! This is AMERICA!
  5. Well, now we can concentrate on repealing laws that don't make any sense. How many bullets in a magazine are TOO many??? In the hands of a law-abiding citizen, it doesn't matter. In the hands of a criminal ONE is too many. Hollow point bullets should not be treated any differently than any other ammunition. If used for self-defense, it shouldn't matter WHAT you propel into or through your attacker. We have to stop thinking in terms of THEIR definition of what's "legal", and start thinking in terms of what is "right".
  6. It just proves that we *CAN* get things done in New Jersey. Let's keep that in mind as we move forward. There is a LOT of work to be done. Brian's release is a *WONDERFUL* Christmas present for ALL freedom-loving patriots. Everyone should enjoy the Christmas holiday, and then get ready to get things done. "NOW IS THE TIME!!!" This PROVES it!
  7. Thanks to all of you who singed petitions, wrote letters and made phone calls. Governor Christie has signed the order to commute Brian's sentence. He will be released within 48 hours. GREAT JOB everyone! Here is the order
  8. I have responded on their FaceBook page as follows. I doubt that they will leave it up: I am encouraging all members and friends of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society to respond to the CALL TO ACTION! Call the Governor and let him know that you expect him to release Brian ASAP. In spite of Sue Aitken's misrepresentations to the Mt. Laurel Telegraph, The Aitken family had an open invitation, and were actually encouraged to speak at the rally and set the tone for the event. It was their decision not to participate. While I can sympathize with her confusion at this difficult time, I cannot let these misrepresentations stand. As we have from the beginning, we stand firmly behind Brian's bid for an immediate release. CALL THE GOVERNOR! BRIAN IS NOT A CRIMINAL. HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE IN PRISON. ANY QUESTIONS???
  9. Fortunately, their understanding and/or participation are not a prerequisite for us continuing to do the right thing. I happen to have reason to believe that despite his parent's lack of understanding, Brian does appreciate what we are trying to do for him. Frankly, even if he did not, I would still be unwilling to turn our backs on him. The facts remain the same. Brian is in prison for exercising his right to keep and bear arms. NJ gun laws lack respect for the Second Amendment. We will continue to work to CHANGE that fact, *AND* we will be SUCCESSFUL! My statement in defense of the NJ2AS and myself was solely to set the record straight. The Aitkens were ALWAYS invited and encouraged to participate in, and speak at the rally. Any statement to the contrary by ANYONE is simply patently FALSE! "NOW IS THE TIME!!!"
  10. I appreciate your vote of confidence. I cannot begin to understand the Aitken's motivation, but we will stand by Brian until he is released. Nothing has changed.
  11. For those who might be concerned about the article in the Mt. Laurel Telegraph The Aitken's were invited and encouraged to speak at the rally. The New Jersey Second Amendment Society and I stand as FIRMLY behind Brian in his bid for release as we have from the beginning. I believe that we should keep the focus on appealing to Governor Christie for Brian’s release. The FACTS are: Brian Aitken is NOT a criminal, and he does not belong in prison. Please call Governor Christie and ask him to release Brian ASAP. Thank you.
  12. It will be worth it. If you haven't seen Steve Lonegan speak, you are in for a very pleasant experience. This man KNOWS what is going on in NJ and the rest of the U.S.
  13. GREAT NEWS: In addition to an introduction by our esteemed host, Mr. Anthony "The Gun" Colandro, the featured speaker at our first North Jersey Meeting will be STEVE LONEGAN. Among his many other achievements, Steve has been Mayor of Bogota and a Republican candidate for Governor. Steve is currently the state director for Americans for Prosperity. Steve is very actively fighting for a number of issues important to citizens throughout our state as well as the entire nation. This promises to be a very interesting and informative meeting. I will have more to say about this in the coming weeks.
  14. I agree Maks. There should be sufficient parking, but - we *DO* have this forum, there is no reason why we can't organize some car pooling. Just a thought. I remember the club. Never owned one.
  15. Ah, good to know. I'll check with Anthony and see if he has any suggestions. Thanks,
  16. We generally like to start the meetings at about 7:30pm, with the speakers starting around 8pm. I am waiting to hear back from Anthony to make sure we won't interfere with a class. I would also like him to be my first speaker. Keep an eye on our website for updates. I should know for sure in a few days. Thanks,
  17. Yeah, we figured you people up in the Alps would be pleased. Make sure everyone knows about it. This is an excellent chance to get you FL CCW *AND* have your voice added to our ranks. We will be making a LOT of noise over the next several months. We need to know who among the current list of representatives and potential candidates actually supports the right to carry a handgun for self defense and who does not. This information will be reflected in our decisions concerning who to support in November.
