  1. 1. Initial FID and one handgun permit. 2. Guttenberg, NJ 3. Delores with the Department of Public Safety 4. Thirty five days (the five additional days after the statute are me giving the city time and my work schedule). 5. No additional documents. Standard finger 6. No additional notes.
  2. I just picked it up this morning from the police department. The total wait was 35 days because of my own schedule. I got the NJFID and one permit at the same time. Well now that I have this lovely card and a permit I now know what I will be spending money on soon. . When I was in Florida with my friend we went to a trade show outside of Naples where a lot of individual manufacturers and shops were represented. At the show you could place the guns in your hands to get a feel for them. Are there similar events in NJ (sorry for the noob question)?
  3. I agree with you on the peaceful movements, I wish that is the way the world works and it is just sad how history proves that although we are working towards non violent means, we are not fully there yet. Nuff said, and once again fooey on Newark.
  4. What does your sexual preference have to do with performance in the field? (This question has been beaten do death by the military by the way.)
  5. If that was the case then why does violence still get more things done in one instant than the collection of nonviolent reasoning that has ever been done. In an ideal world your statement would be legitimate (and I so wish it were so) but here is a case history: U.S. Independence - violent Civil War - violent W.W. I - violent W.W. II - violent Korea Vietnam - violent Desert Storm - violent Operation Iraqi Freedom - violent Now if we get into particulars there are numerous examples of where violence has trumped peaceful negotiations. The French Revolution, Haitian slave revolts, hell even our own fight for civil liberties was not peaceful, I'm sure there are a few elderly gentleman of these forums that may remember the water cannons and police dogs during that era. The only reason the Civil Rights Act passed on April 11th was because MLK was assassinated on April 4th. If you want anything done, bring the pain otherwise you will be sitting there talking about diplomacy and what you want till you turn blue in the face. In regards to Newark posting this new city ordinance, it's disgusting that the private sector has to take over for the basic needs of the citizens. I wish there was a way to hire more police in Newark, I used to live there and lord knows the town needs as many cops as possible.
  6. I missed Army of One after Sons of Guns, didn't think it was going to be worth watching. Going to have to catch it on demand. BTW at the end of Sons of Guns what caused the trailer to explode. I know it wasn't any of the ordinance being fired at it.
  7. That was pretty cool, I tried harry potter, gollum, and Clint Eastwood, got all of them right.
  8. I handed in the application for initial id and a handgun permit this morning. I am off to fingerprinting July 9th in Paramus. Till then I guess I will just have to take the safety course and rent. Thank you for the welcome(s)!
  9. Yes I did apply for the pistol permit at the same time. I just got off the phone with Bob from Shore Shot and he is a little under the weather right now so he won't be able to do a class till mid July. Would anyone be able to recommend a decent experience similar to Shore Shot in the Hudson county area? (Basic Firearms Safety and Handling class.)
  10. I went down to Florida this past week and had a blast, one thing I did was go to the range with my friend who is a CCW holder and owns a Glock 23C. I had one hell of a time. I even got a chance to rent a long range rifle, Remington .308 and boy was that fun to shoot. On a serious note my friend said that if you want to try this on your own, apply for a permit in NJ and see where you can go from there. So I have the applications all ready, about to get fingerprinted and then I guess it is just a waiting game. In the mean time I am about to schedule a class with Shore Shot Pistol Range for the Firearms Safety and Handling. I honestly can't wait to buy my own and be able to go to the range and have fun.
