Just got my NRA care package in the mail today. I thought this was/is sad and funny all at once. A stark indication of where we are headed? Or, never mind... I can't seem to upload any pics from anything on here. Not sure what I am doing wrong. What I got is my NRA care package with the cool hat. Big logo on it, American flag on the side... wait for it... made in china tag.

I am hoping to pick up my Kimber in a few weeks. Need to get the permit in hand and the cash as well. I will let you know when I have picked it up and if you feel like taking a ride up this way, you can run a few rounds through it. I was in the same boat as you and was seriously hemming and hawing over what to buy. I walked into Ramsey and lo and behold, they had just received a Kimber in 9mm the day before. I slapped the money on it right then and there. I was between that and the Sig 226. I love the look of the 1911 and it's what I wanted, I just wasn't enthused about waiting for 5-7 months for it. I'll consider what happened to me to be Divine Intervention. Good luck. All your choices are top notch. C

Howdy. Can someone on here give me a simple breakdown on what shooting competitons entail and what I would likely encounter if I were to try one out? What would you recommend for a newbie shooter with a 9mm 1911? Thanks for any and all help. C

Yes, the laws are very tough. She proposed that I bring my gun to shoot when I got it as we discussed it several months ago. Thank GOD I asked a friend about it as I wouldda been cuffed and stuffed for it in a hurry. To top it all off, the range that she belongs to in NYC will not let me shoot without a NYC permit which I can't get as weapons are permitted to a residence, not a person. I ain't got no residence in NYC. C

I know it's VERY illegal for me to bring my gun into NYC even if it's for use at a range. However, is it illegal for someone to bring their gun from NYC to here to shoot at a range? Or, Penn-cy? Any help would be appreciated. I have a client and she and her hubby want to meet up and shoot. Just trying to facilitate it. C

So, as a few of you know, I put some money down on a Kimber 9mm Stainless Target II. I'm hoping to pick it up at the beginning of January, but we'll see how long it takes for the permit to come thru. Anyway, I am looking for suggestions/guidance on what to do to the gun before I take it to the range for the first time. I've never owned a gun before and don't want my experience to suck because I did something wrong or used the wrong product. I am assuming that I will field strip it and clean it beforehand. What products would y'all recommend? Do Kimbers like to run on the wet side or are they ok with very light lube? Recommendations on lubes? (keep the snickers to yourself!!!) Anything else I am missing, please let me know. Thanks much and I am looking forward to learning about this hobby. C

Wow. That sucks. Unfortunately I think you are right in assuming that the antigunnuts will be taking to the streets to ban guns of any type if they can. Really sucks. My prayers go out to the surviving family members. C

I bought it new and I believe I did pretty well. I didn't pay sticker. And, I'm happy. The Spartan is made overseas or of imported parts and the Trojan has that big ugly logo on it and is named after a prophylactic. I just couldn't do it. C

FWIW, this is all now a moot point. I put some money down on a pistol today. Went up to Ramsey Outdoor to speak with Ron and see if he had anything further to recommend/take a look at (unfortunately not all that busy). As I was waiting for him to finish up a conversation I decided to take a look in the case and there she was... The gun that I really wanted but was fairly sure I couldn't have. US made, 1911 in 9mm. It showed up out of the blue yesterday. A Kimber Stainless Target II. I asked to take a look at it and as soon as it hit my hand, it was all over with. I spoke with the powers that be and made the deal. I'm very happy. Now just need to wait for the permit to come through and this part of the journey will be done. Thanks all for your help and I look forward to meeting a few of you at a local range some day. C

It a beautiful gun but I would prefer no shorter than a 4" barrel. C
