  1. Hey NRA where are you guys! Give us a sign???
  2. Thanks folks I think I have it. I mistakenly kept saying 1994, when in fact NJ banned them in 1990 before the Feds did in 1994. So If I have this correct, when NJ banned the AR's they were banned no exception you either got rid of it, or in some cases could register it, but there was no grandfathering of the guns even though the Feds did when they banned them in 94. So now that NJ has no 'current ban" it (NJ) could either a. grandfather if the feds do, or B. say no way get rid of it. So basically all those who currently own one in NJ just kind of have to sit and wait? Bummer, just bought a $1600 DPMS. Looks like money down the drain - possibly!! Merry Christmas! Hope we all get through this somehow.
  3. Ok still a little puzzled?? Let's say a ban on Assualt wepons comes to pass and there is a grandfather clause and NJ doesn't honor that provision, like happned in 1994. Did anyone out ther encounter that situation, and if so wht did you do?? Hid your guns for 10 years? Sell them turn them in what?? And did you have notice (time) in which to take action, like next month if you have an AR in NJ you go to jail, so you have 30 days to get rid of it?? Anony have answers??
  4. Were you given notice that by a certian date you had to get rid of it? Did they actually come looking for guns. Did you need to produce a receipt of sale??
  5. Ok, so what did owners of Assualt wapons, who lived in NJ when the Clinton Ban took place, do when NJ did not recognize the grandfather aspect of the law?? Was there a buy-back? Did they just turn them in and say goodby, could they give them to somone in another state. So what happened?? At the time I only had bolt action rifles and several shot guns. Times are different now, with an AR type on hand? So what happened..
  6. Yes it will. I am not a quitter and will fight the good fight until the end but how do you fight mass media making everyone of us who enjoys guns and shooting sports look like well, I will ues the term they called us when we retumrd from Nam "baby killers" ! Looks like the 60's all over again. At least todays young heros who fight for our freedom are respected. Can't say the same for those of us who fought and died in that other war...
  7. Give me a break! Where will all this end - seriously! Case in point. Took a GFH class the other day. They gave us T-shirts. So put it on and road home. Then went out to the local supermarket (jacket over the shirt) well I moved the jacket to get at my wallet and this woman comes running up to me screaming "how dare you wear that? Guns kill everyone!" I stopped, thought for a second, and said I guess they missed you! Checked out and went home. True stroy! No more NRA stickers on the truck! I guess we have to become closet gunners! Glad I am old and won't live to see the day when we no longer can heve them. Time to fight back.....
  8. No true read:As far as I could tell by reading her proposal she would grandfather people. Her language ssay as follows: Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) says she will introduce a gun-control bill on the first day of the next Congress: "It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession -- not retroactively, but prospectively --" of "assault weapons" as well as high-capacity magazines. By not retroactuvely I believe that means what happend in the past will remain and that prospectively means what will happen in the future. can't say what NJ will do but I do know a bunch of folks will probably move or give the guns to relatives out of state (yes illegial I know)

  11. Anyone want to make a small wager??? BY this time next year there will be another "Assault" weapons ban in place. There will be a ban on Mag capacity probably not to exceed between 10- 15 rounds (like NJ has now). They will grandfather in all pre existing owners prior to the ban taking effect. (too expensive to collect 4 +-million gnus). They will institute a yearly registration fee(tax) for owning an AR or any other gun for that matter, just like we pay for car registration renewal. Now here is what I think will happen down the road after a year: Any person who wants to buy a gun of any type will need a mental health physical( checkup) don't laugh pilots (privet and commercial) have to have a physical (not mental) to maintain their license. And (GFH will love this) everyone will have to take a training class. Folks it is coming. But if the world ends Friday, we won't have to worry. Think I am wrong, save this and we will see in a year.
  12. Thank you for thet insightful information. It is greatly appreciated.
  13. This is a no win situation for law abiding gun owners. People are angry, rightfully so, by this senseless act. The shooter is dead, the gun owner is dead, so there is a need by the masses (especially the press) to assess blame. The only thing left to which blame can be assed is the gun! The inanimate object that has now become a symbol for the root of all evil in America. We, as law abiding gun owners, are now guilty by our association with guns! We can argue until we are all blue in the face about our violent society, video games, loss of faith and the list goes on, for a reason to make sense of what occurred. But those arguments will never stand up to the faces of dead children, the crocodile tears of Obama, the liberal media, and a general public sentiment that guns are bad, they can kill, and people who own them (legally) are all out there in the lunatic fringe. Obama, like him or not, is smart and sly. If the US signs the NATO treaty then the US will be at the mercy of what other countries dictate with regards to gun ownership and control, without congressional approval! So no worries, no fight in congress, just sign the document and in the dark of night are rights disappear. With public sentiment squarely behind gun ban advocates there is little anyone can do except wait and see how far the bans go. Will owners be grandfathered, or will they have to turn in their arms. Will pistols also be banned? The fallout from this one 30 minute act of violence is about to shape the American landscape, with respect to gun control (banishment), for generations to come. I am not advocating we as legal law abiding gun owners simply give up, yes we need to fight to maintain our rights, but I am not optimistic about our chances given the climate that currently exists. The press is against us, the general population is against us, parents are against us, and once supportive legislators will be hard pressed to support us, less they be labeled insensitive toward the deaths of children. I fear this uphill battle may just be too steep a slope to overcome. On December 14, 2012 America lost two of its most precious possessions, innocent young children, and our freedoms.
