  1. I'm not rich; I just have my priorities straight. My brother has all my NJ naughty list stuff. I don't go to Utah too often, though. My shooting trip would normally have to coincide with a major event like a funeral, or a wedding, or a BYU-Utah game (aka, the Holy War). One of the coolest things about traveling to Utah is that I can carry a loaded weapon concealed in my vehicle without a license. http://www.sltrib.com/ci_12345824
  2. Yeah, I seriously doubt he would regret buying a Mark II/III. The Mark III is fun and inexpensive to shoot, and it would maintain a healthy gun lust. It's a nice "gateway gun" . . . you'll inevitably progress to harder stuff, but you'll never want to give up that Mark III.
  3. Thanks. A few things you can expect from me: The Good: Honesty--You'll always know the exact status of your order, and I won't make up stories about the firearms I sell. Flexibility and an open mind-- I once called a shop in PA (one that used to operate in NJ) that refused to sell me a Saiga 12 because they are "based on an AK47 platform" and "not legal in New Jersey." I protested that plenty of people owned them and that I had purchased them in New Jersey in the past, but the manager didn't want to hear it. I will always confirm facts conclusively before I give you a final answer. I'll also consider trades. Competitive prices-- If you're willing to work with me, I'll work with you. I would like volume as opposed to a few "one off scores" Friendliness--We've all met gun a shop hero behind the counter who treats people like they're an inconvenience. I won't make you feel uncomfortable unless you don't have a sense of humor. The Bad: Limited hours--I'm not going to cater to walk-in traffic. I leave that role to my competitors down the road. Limited knowledge of manufacturing processes, metallurgy, ballistics, and the minutiae of gunsmithing-- I'll do my best to answer your questions, and I'll sub out the smithing work to competent partners. Very limited inventory--I am a small-time operator, but I'll try to stock a few popular firearms and a few "interesting guns." Give me some time to get some momentum. A location that is a little remote for many forum members. The upside is that the municipality is gun friendly.
  4. I can't wait to try out my MD arms drum next time I go to Utah.
  5. Rasmussen has some integrity. On a different note, what sort of skills do you have? I could use a mason, among other things.
  6. Yeah, I waited to buy a Five Seven. Look where that got me.
  7. I wouldn't say it's a waste. I have some standard capacity magazines outside the state. I also have NJ capacity magazines so I can shoot in this state. I like more than the capacity, though. I like that it shoots the same ammo as my rifle. Forutnately I can shoot either at RTSP. With the Levang compensator, my AR-57 the report of the Five Seven round was comparable to that of the GSG 22 (not mine) we were shooting, so the staff allowed us to use one of the pistol lanes. We probably should not have been permitted to shoot my 500 Smith ammo in the pistol lane. It's a little loud. My question was sincere. Good to know. I've lived here only since 2006, so bear with me.
  8. I believe RTSP is a master dealer for Wilson Combat.
  9. The same thing distortions of public opinion happened when Obama went after Bill Clinton's DADT policy: http://www.washingto...eback-barracks/ The administration tried to twist survey results to indicate that 70 percent of soldiers had no problem with ending DADT. The soldiers I have served almost universally align with General Conway: http://www.dakotavoi...-unit-cohesion/ Why do I bring this up? This is the MO of the administration. Give a weak, distorted misrepesentation of popular sentiment as some excuse for carrying out unconstitutional and inappropriate actions. The media lap this stuff up without a thought of skepticism or even cursory fact checking.
  10. Typical push poll garbage---see the key words in bold and my editorial comments in brackets.
  11. So, I need to buy a Five Seven for both my wife and me for her to go on a solo trip to the range?
  12. I wouldn't consider this for practice. Do you have an aftermarket gas plug for your Saiga?
  13. Anyone tried this? http://www.cabelas.com/product/WINCHESTER-MILITARY-GRADE-BUCKSHOT/1431833.uts?WTz_l=CQO&avad=48247_c3c43e07&WT.mc_id=al35987&rid=12&WT.tsrc=AFF I was reading reviews on Midway, and it appears to cycle well in Saigas. This stuff is on sale, too. Anodized head in case you don't want your prey to see your bandoleer.
  14. Oh yeah, one more thing. If you decide you can't afford to buy a pistol in the near future, at least buy the 15 round magazines to go with the pistols you're considering. Fortunately, the Masterpiece Arms Defender I bought takes Five Seven mags, so I'm golden if we get hit with a capacity limit that permits grandfathering. My brother in a free state has all my 15+ capacity mags . . . I'm holding out hope that some day I'll be able to use them in our state if not . . . I'll be able to use them if I ever move to northeastern PA.
  15. Springfield XD45. I love the ergonomics of this weapon. Compared to my old Glock 22 (sold to my brother), I actually look like I know what I'm doing when I shoot the XD. Granted, the .40S&W is not the same round, giving you unpleasant, sharp muzzle flip, but I think the "safe action" was what hurt my precision. I would second combat auto's praise for the ergonomics. I bought my 4" XD-45 in OD/Black for like $375 a about three years ago in basically unfired condition.
  16. I'm still curious about what you were pointing me to at this site.
  17. Showed up early. Very friendly. Good communication and flexibility.
  18. Showed up on time. Was very patient with me when I was delayed getting to our meeting spot. Good communication. I enjoyed our chat. Thank you!
  19. Showed up at least ten minutes early. Showed proper ID. I enjoyed meeting him and his wife.
  20. Thanks, Pat! I enjoyed our chat.
  21. I've had offers on my NIB factory Saiga 12 in excess of $1200. You don't particularly want to give up an item singled out on "the list," but market conditions can really tempt you to sell your collection. If I've been offered $1200, I'm sure you can get more with your accessories if you're patient. I know a couple of guys who were looking for one. I can put you in touch with them. If you want to "help a brother out," $900 to a $1000 is a fair price given the demand.
  22. Apparently the PMR-30 is going for as much as $1500 these days. So much for the poor man's Five-Seven, huh? Distributors are charging MSRP now. I really regret not buying a Five-Seven back when they could be found in the $900 range, especially since I own an AR-57 upper. I bought a Masterpiece Arms Defender at a quarter of the cost of a Five Seven, just so I could get a pistol in the same caliber. I know they have nothing else in common. On a different note, my all-around favorite weapon is my XD-45. I don't even have to try to be precise with the XD, and the ergonomics are great for me. I also recommend the Ruger Mark II/III and 22/45. Check out this one: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=327396242
