  1. The free float attaches directly to the receiver. And the drop in attaches to the delta ring and the front end is supported by the front ring (behind the FSB. For an example the upper in my sig is a free float hand guard (quad rail). No front ring to clip in to. And attaches right to the receiver Personally I like the free float look better than the drop in style.
  2. Most likely will be a Saturday in April, June, August and September I will update the other thread as soon as i have dates confirmed at the ranges.
  3. Im not in the industry but one of my good friends owns a good sized used car lot over in the trenton area. I've gotten my last 4 trucks from him and we do a ton of business with each other and i refer a lot of customers to him as well. If you want his website and name lmk. You'd be dealing with the owner not a sales guy.
  4. That would sound like a awesome day trip for me and my father in law but i'm pretty sure my wife would not appreciate your generous offer! lol.
  5. LOL... he's too young to really know any better or even remember he was there. He'll be 11 months when we go. Her Parents have a place in Lake Ochechobee (sp) and want to see us so we're killing two birds with one stone. It would be cool down the road to say he was there and stuff. Going to see her parents for a few days (get some fishing in) then all of us are doing a disney visit for a few days while we are there..... and in no way shape or form going to the Spikes factory store... nah.. i wouldnt do that.........
  6. So i'm planning a trip to take my son to visit the Mouse in FL. Anyone one know of any discounts to be had for park tickets or anything cool down there? btw... As far as my wife is concerned.... We're going to see the Mouse and his friends... We're not going to the Spikes Tactical Factory store or anything liek that.... lol
  7. updated the attending list! If you are interested in going to this class there is still time to register!! If anyone needs extra AR15 mags for the class let me know. I should have a few i can loan or if you are interested will have a few to sell. Also, I will have an extra upper at the event so if anyone experiences a failure (as long as its not a lower problem) you can borrow an upper from me to use for the class.
  8. I agree, There are a number of home defense rifle and pistol classes you can take. I am coordinating one in a few weeks and will be coordinating another one in april (part of a 3 part series for the Carbine and pistol) there is no good substitute for training. I may speak to the instructor and see about doing a more in depth home defense class next year as well.
  9. thanks for all of the replies so far. I spoke with Kharis and it looks like I should be able to post the Rifle and Pistol Class descriptions this week along with the schedule. We spent some time chatting about the courses and i relayed the info/requests from the forum to him. All i can say is that it sounds like both classes will be very comprehensive and will not disappoint. More info to come... keep posting any training requests!
  10. We will be covering Rifle to pistol transitions as well so feel free to bring your pistol, if you do bring at least 50 rounds of ammo i would say.
  11. Thanks for the replies so far! I'll be on the look out for your call LTcap. I told her not to get it but she was dead set on it. We purchased the Carchex.com Bumper to bumper warranty (i have it on my caddy and it is by far the best aftermarket warranty out there... even the chevy dealer i get my work done at is amazed at what they cover without inspections) on the Land Rover so I'm not too worried about parts and labor on the truck... at least not for the next 40K miles. If anyone has any other suggestions please post up! Thanks again!
  12. My wife purchased a used 08 Land Rover a month or two ago and we're looking for a reputable mechanic who works on them vs going to a dealer. Anyone have any recommendations?
  13. This is the Defensive Carbine/Shotgun Class. The Carbine and pistol Series class(s) will start in April. I should have the dates and schedule this monday.
  14. When I did mine I just filled out the form and turned it in to the police clerk and it was done. What town do you live in? Have you tried just showing up with your corms and money orders and dropping it off?
  15. I just got my two bottles of FIREclean today, i cleaned up and lubed my 22lr AR15 and plan on plinking away a brick of Golden Bullets this weekend (weather permitting) and will see how it holds up with the Dirt. From what i've read so far online i think this will be a great addition to the tool box!
  16. My wife keeps trying to get me to go out on BF for some killer deals... i keep telling her that I don't like to fight the Mall people anytime of the year. Why would i want to fight the BLACK FRIDAY ZOMBIES on the busiest day of the year.. I can get pretty good deals online. She doesnt understand....
  17. I got you added Jon! UPdated the attending list. If you have not yet replied to me please do so ASAP!!
  18. Thats a good deal too! Keep in mind that if you plan on upgrading the GRIP and want the enhanced trigger guard even with the cost of a stock and buffer tube kit, the link i put up is a better deal. here are a few i found: Commercial CAR STOCK, Buffer tube, spring & Buffer $45 after shipping: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=374161841 MIL SPEC Car stock, buffer tube, spring,& Buffer $65 after shipping +/-: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=369578260 ROCK RIVER ARMS Car stock, Buffer, Spring, Milspec tube about $75 after shipping: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=369594612 good deals either way you look at it!
  19. I was looking over at PSA's web site and found this deal on a blem lower plus parts kit for $99. Add a stock and buffer tube set (if you do your shopping homework) and you can have a complete lower for under $200. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/featured/psa-safe-fire-lower-moe-black-lower-parts-kit.html
  20. Lol luckily the ffl I'm using for this is a friend and isn't charging me.
  21. dude, i spent 10 minutes alone trying to explain to him that there are no serial numbers on the uppers and that the ATF considers the LOWER RECEIVER the fire arm... he said i was wrong. and i mean not like "i think you may have things mixed up" or something polite. he was just like... "NO, YOU ARE WRONG. I HAVE AN FFL I SHOULD KNOW"
  22. I'll bite my tongue for now. I want to make sure i get it before i go an out the guy... i can tell you this...He's a private FFL holder (has the FFL registered to his house) Does very little Transfers or selling outside of his collection. he's a self admitted "collector" of rare fire arms. outside of that i am not saying much until i get the upper.. I agree It is a Spikes 14.5" upper that i will pin and make compliant, the deal was too hard to pass up... $500. I'm not too worried about anything that may be wrong with it, I can tech the upper if needed... I just want to make sure i get.
