  1. Thanks, all! Went with the Harris 6-9 but I'll definitely try an Atlas in the future. Can't wait to try this out.
  2. Any recommendations? Mainly for bench or prone shooting out to 300 yds. Thanks in advance! http://www.ruger.com/products/americanRifleRanch/specSheets/6967.html
  3. Ian, yes, thanks for the information. Sounds like I'll finally have a good new trap home in Central Jersey similar to Pine Belt!
  4. Thanks, Ian. Hope to see you one of these weekends soon.
  5. Been looking for a new trap club since I moved far away from Pine Belt, and came across this place online (http://www.mallardtrapclub.org/). Any current or former Mallard members here on NJGF? I'd like to come out on a Wednesday evening or weekend to meet some folks and (try to) dust some clays!

Range was great Saturday and Sunday with the snow illuminating clay targets. Looking forward to a potential group meet up.
  7. This is a great read. Thanks everyone.
  8. You the man! Thanks, sir.
  9. That's a great point and much appreciated. Also, appreciate the type!
  10. well over 1000, and just for fun no competitions etc. However the gun at issue was JUST opened and hence part of the frustration
  11. Thanks!! Some folks on Youtube...obviously a reliable source ;D
  12. While I appreciate everyone's opinions, I think some folks are conflating the difference between "wear and tear" from use versus the scratch I am upset over due to the way the slide lock was designed/inserted in this 1911. To be clear, I understand that guns will be subject to wear and tear - e.g. I own a Mosin from 1942 that was obviously used in combat and appreciate all of its dings and marks. The point of my post was to find a solution to removing a scratch to a BRAND NEW gun. Some people may think that is no big deal, and of course, you're entitled to your own opinion. But there's also nothing wrong with wishing to keep one's tools in pristine condition to the extent possible. Thanks,
  13. Great point vlad thanks!
  14. Thanks, but character from shooting it is different from "character" because of a pin thats hard to reinsert.
  15. Thanks,SOF. Did it come back looking like new or obviously buffed? i found some youtube videos of folks using sand paper for steel not sure if i trust myself.
  16. I'm pretty confident you can abuse tools, like firearms, and still keep them pristine. My dad did that with his mechanic tools and I like to do the same with my (more expensive) firearms. thanks OG
  17. Via youtube, I learned I am not the only person to scratch my Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec (Stainless Steel) when trying to reinsert the slide lock after doing a cleaning. Anyone have any advice on removing this scratch and/or for cleaning a stainless steel gun? Thanks all!
  18. thanks everyone for the posts and PMs. I may just need to put my man pants on and make my brothers help me. However ill check out some of the delivery and help options everyone mentioned. thanks all
  19. * Edit - Local = central jersey, but I'm not opposed to other suggestions.
  20. Wife and I recently moved, and i hope to remain at this location awhile. Looking to get my first safe, but since we may move again in the next few years, not looking to get anything incredibly heavy or large. Hence, I was hoping you guys/gals could help me with the following: 1. Good quality safe (quality = decent security and fire rating, under $700 or less) to hold about 6 long guns and a few pistols; and 2. Any retailer (local preferred) that would deliver and help me get it down into the basement? For No. 2, sure, I can get my brothers/buddies to help. However, I do not have a garage and don't want to have a safe sitting out in the open while i wait for people's schedules to free up... Thanks in advance!
