  1. Anyone know if Cabelas in PA or Bass Pro in AC have sights available on display that i can hold and turn on and play with to see the reticles and all that? I'd like to be able to handle it before i buy. Worst case i'll order from one of the big box stores that have a great return policy. Thanks!
  2. How many times would i have to sleep with you to shoot it? :/ Super jealous. Definitely my dream gun. haha
  3. ^That's what i was looking for. Thanks for the info folks. I'm going to bookmark this so i can pull up sites whenever i'm shopping. Not actively looking for anything but for the right price, who knows, haha.
  4. ^Didn't know any of this. I have a room at my parents' house that i moved out of almost two years ago. Can i legally bring a firearm with me whenever i stay there? i spend TONS of time there because my mother helps with the baby; i sleep there on average probably 2+ nights a week with my daughter and fiance. If so, i'll be bringing my 1911 with me; i feel much safer having it on me. My DL has my home up in Woodbridge on it as does my FID, but i still get mail to the house in East Brunswick on occasion.
  5. BTW, feel free to suggest stuff thats a bit higher than the price range i'm looking at, as i may be able to find it slightly used for less.
  6. Any insight regarding the Burris AR-332/536? They seem to be around the same price range but much more compact. I suppose that's a red dot versus a scope, though, and it's not adjustable. I wish there was a place that had these things in stock to actually handle.
  7. Exactly. On an 80$ optic, it's whatever. On one of the most popular high end sights out there, though?!
  8. Barska was only like 80 bucks on sale on amazon. Reviews were great on it, i have no idea how it can go from being within 3" of dead center at 50 yards to not hitting paper at 25. Lesson learned, haha. Regardless of how much money i had to spend, i dont think i'd really spend more than that on an optic regardless. I'm not serving in Iraq, and shooting at a range that has a maximum 200 yards means i don't need anything too crazy. Heck, my whole rifle was like 1200$, haha. Maybe i'm just being cheap, but unless i am shooting competitions or my life relies upon it, i just don't think its necessary.
  9. For example i'm a member of a few NJ Truck groups and such where people post jeeps, trucks, suv's, and other offroad vehicles/toys to sell/trade for others. I Was wondering if anyone on here knew of anything of the sort but for firearms. I Was looking on facebook and online and there don't seem to be too many, but i can't really believe that the only used firearms for sale in NJ (other than from Dealers) are the few on here or gunbroker.
  10. Looking for websites, facebook groups, forums, etc. where people go to buy/sell/trade firearms, optics, and other accessories here in NJ. Know of any?
  11. Hey all. Trying to find a decent optic for my Sig M400 with slight magnification; adjustable if possible. I'm on a fairly tight budget and would like to keep things under 3-400$. I purchased a Barska or whatever and it seemed Fantastic with adjustable zoom, green and red illumination at multiple brightness settings, etc. but can't get the thing sighted in; spent probably about 200 rounds sighting it in and about 2 hours of paid range time about a month and a half ago only to have the thing completely lose zero all over again, but, with iron's everything still functioned fine. Wasn't due to an overheated barrel because the rifle had lots of cool down time and all, so i have a feeling the issue is with the sight. I decided to spend a bit more and get something that will also be worth more than its weight in scrap when/if i decide to sell it. I'd prefer big names ie Aimpoint, but they seem to be much higher than my budget for anything decent with magnification. Used is fine so long as its in good condition. Thanks guys!
  12. Wasn't sure where to ask, but, i've been looking around on sites like gunbroker, etc. for good deals on firearms, sights, etc. Anyone care to share websites, forums, etc. where one might find some good deals? Doesn't seem to be too much going on here, and gunbroker seems to be just about entirely new firearms that aren't even legal here, anyways. Thanks!
  13. Haha yeah, so much easier. You know he's full of it when even the Police department laughs at the BS.
  14. Shame on me for not describing the building. Yes, it's a storefront building. There are something like 7 or 8 units, i always seem to forget one. A liquor store, chinese food store, grocery(bodega) store, a Chicken Holiday (Sells just about anything, really), and then a vacant unit up front. Warehouse in the back, and 2nd floor via a small front gate that leads to a flight of stairs and has a church on the left and a vacant unit on the right. The issue i can see coming up, even if i was co-owner, is that in order to get from one unit to another where i normally am working would mean i'd have to walk on the oversized sidewalk to get from one unit to another. I'm not sure until what point might be considered our property, or if it is city property the second i would step out of a unit. I know that the city makes us sweep the sidewalks and all, but that doesn't mean it is our property. That's why i was contemplating fighting for a CCP. It's something i've been wanting to do, but NJ's track record of handing them out is, well, you know. That and the fact that i'm honestly afraid of being shot while legally carrying by a police officer, hah. I can make the one vacant unit where i keep some of my tools and stuff my business office, which would mean i could carry in that one unit, but that wouldn't let me carry in front of the building or in other units. The laws are so grey, it's really up to the Police officer that notices the bulge in my shirt..... haha
  15. No actual police reports, though police have been called to the property on NUMEROUS occasions. I'm not sure if they keep records of that, though. Was there with my fiance a few months ago and some random chick must have been high and got all up in her face. Had to lock her up and drag the crackhead off her and call the police because she just wouldn't quit. Fortunately, some of the people in the neighborhood are nice and they took care of it. Other times, i haven't been so lucky. No police reports were filed (Unfortunately, snitches get a lot more than stitches there, too), but they WERE called. Did they show? not as far as i know.
  16. Either of you two think i have a shot in hell of getting the permit? haha
  17. You guy's think i should even bother trying? Any way attempting to obtain one could result in some sort of back lash? Issues from my Local PD who may not want me having a CCP, or something like that? I live in Woodbridge.. Had my Initial FID & PP within ~4 weeks; not bad at all. Thanks
  18. Wouldn't be surprised. I'll tell the judge the same thing when he is assaulted in court by some crook and the deputies aren't there to save his ass. Sounds like a grade-a a-hole, which isn't surprising.
  19. Ha! Yeah right. All i have to protect me there is a bat called 'manners'.. Cops are nowhere to be found unless shots are fired or someone is already dead, then they come to scoop up the body. Unfortunate, and i don't really blame them, but the point is you can't really rely on them if there is a gun pointed at you to get there in time.
  20. I should apply! I've been doing it for a few years and have yet to catch a bullet (Not that i haven't gotten close), i bet when i finally do get shot i'll get the permit! :/
  21. Just curious. I Realize that only a very, very select handful of people have CCW permits here in NJ, but wondering who those people are/what they do. I Manage a property in Newark in a fairly bad neighborhood, and have had my share of run in's with scumbags. Unfortunately, that means i also have to deal with evicting tenants and such, and while some of them are just business owners, some of them are also very shady folks. Threats have been made so many times i don't even know what to take seriously anymore. I've had to call the police for break ins and such on multiple occasions, only to wait hours for them to show up to clear the building so that i can go ahead and secure the gates (mind you, at 3 AM in a back alley on the corner of stratford and clinton ave, an area that is so bad a police officer is stationed there most of the day, every day, to *try* and lower the amount of shootings and such). I Realize its a long shot, but you guy's think i MIGHT be able to get a permit? My father owns the property i manage (otherwise i wouldn't bother, but if he had to hire a company to deal with them it'd cost a ridiculous amount of money just to have a light bulb changed), and i store some stuff in one of the units so i could register it under my business so that i can carry on me, but i think that would only work for the single unit, right? Also, i wouldn't be allowed to carry from one store to another because i'd have to use the oversized sidewalk, i believe, so that would make things annoying. Feel free to chime in! The laws are so bass ackwards i have no idea what i can and can not do as far as carrying on the property. If it matters any, i do have a power of attorney to act on my father's behalf.
  22. Oh, haha. I generally only mark stuff that my buddy and i both have... We have the same bows, the same AR (and therefore same mags) so those are either customized so that we can differentiate or marked somehow. As stated, i only have 4 mag's, so as of right now there's no real need to number, but i'm probably going to do so with some paint markers or something now that i am starting to accumulate and stockpile stuff. I'm just hoping they don't introduce 10rd mag limit's as soon as i accumulate 20+ 15rd mag's :/
  23. I hate to go off topic, but why number the mag's? (unless you mean to keep track if you are in a firefight as to how much ammo you are burning through) And yeah, i need to mark it; using the target hole cover's is a good idea. I'll probably do that next time so i can put it off to the side in the random gun stuff junk drawer, haha.
  24. I have a 2 or 3 month old MP 15-22 in the Pumpkin color. One of the mags doesn't feed right, three others work fine. If i use the one mag, it demolishes the CCI .22lr HP's i use. Stupid me keeps putting it back away with the others.. I get the occasional FTF/FTE, but it's not bad at all considering how many rounds the wifey puts through the damn thing (went through 300 rds the last time). Pretty sure my Sig M400 (AR15) has had more failures. Try switching the mags like i did, if it is in fact the rifle, give Smith a call.
  25. Not sure if this problem is resolved, but i have the Wilson 8 rd mags for my .45 1911 and while i haven't had this happen, i've had a few failures though they weren't nearly as dramatic. Could also be the ammo. As previously suggested, change one variable at a time and see if the problem fixes itself. That's what i would suggest.
