  1. So if I don't want to pin a muzzle device, it sounds like I'll need a 12"+ barrel?
  2. The Dark Storm Industries letter seems to say that with a 12.5" barrel the OAL is 28", so I would assume that a similar configuration but with 11.5" would probably be ~27", with some leeway for different barrels or tubes or whatever. How long is your OAL from tube to FH tip? The pinned FH on a 10.5" barrel should be about the same as a 12" barrel, right?
  3. I feel like I'm seeing a lot of misinformation in this thread. As far as I'm aware it's very simple. 1. No stock, so it can't be a rifle. 2. Designed to be fired with two hands (VFG), so it can't be a pistol. 3. Longer than 26", so it can't be an AOW. Federally I'm positive this is legit. The part that I'm concerned about is whether this is truly a loophole through the AWB. Reading through the AWB language, it seems to define "handgun" and "rifle" the same way as federal law, so I think it really is a loophole. I don't have the balls to try it but I'd really like to hear an informed legal opinion.
  4. @PK90 I agree it doesn't get you much compared to say a 14.5" barrel, mostly just curious if it could be done. Another thing I noticed is that it seems as though the AWB targets only semi-auto rifles, pistols, and shotguns. I'm curious how that would legally play out (other than reversing the opinion and classifying it as a pistol). Seems to me if the firearm is legal under NJ law then it also wouldn't fall under the AWB.
  5. I saw that NJSP said the ATF's ruling on the Shockwave is what they will go with. Does this potentially open the door for other "firearms"? AR-15 with OAL of 26" and no stock? Sorry if this is a dumb question!
  6. Thanks for all the info guys, I'll be making a few calls tomorrow, it seems...
  7. I'm not quite ready to build an AR yet, but I'm planning on buying an inexpensive stripped lower... Any recommendation where to buy one?
  8. I'm planning on joining here this Sunday, assuming we don't get hit by the hurricane... Anyway, you guys say that the range isn't as enjoyable on the weekends, but those are probably the only days I'll be able to shoot--however right now I only have a .22 rifle, does the rimfire range ever get crowded? I doubt I'll mind shooting there if I have to.
  9. Hi, new to this forum so sorry if this has already been asked. I recently bought my first rifle, a Ruger 10/22. As a fairly tall guy the original stock is okay, but feels a little bit small. Has anyone used this Magpul stock? Also regarding legality, does it add any "evil features" to my gun? The stock is adjustable (but not collapsible/folding) and the grip drops pretty low... Thanks for any advice
