  1. Just made it back - ended up not staying to shoot. Club house was PACKED.. there were atleast a dozen people standing. Richie, Troy, and Zack (aka Son of Ed.. aka zesler) were there. Richie had mentioned that usnmars might come to sign up, but, not sure if he did (not that I know what he looks like, so for all I know, he was sitting next to me ). It took a little longer than expected, mostly because people were showing up well past 10am. But, it's done, and I now have a membership
  2. I'll be there with the lady. Not sure if we'll be staying to shoot afterward... will probably depend on how crowded the silhouette range is. Either way, I'm excited
  3. Cool video montage (video isn't showing up embedded for me for some reason - had to quote the message to grab the URL :?: ) I can't imagine what it's like to have someone shoot a .308 off my shoulder!

    M&P 15R

That's exactly it, in my opinion. S&W is trying to become a big player in the AR market, and they are doing one hell of a job. They've got the "regular" AR market covered with quite a few different configurations in a few different price points. And they've done really well in that market. Now they're going "outside the box" with the 5.45 offerings AND the complete .22 AR. Given the cost of ammo, it's a REALLY smart business decision. The .22 is a no brainer. The 5.45 is a little riskier given some of the questions regarding the availability of 5.45, but none the less, I think it'll work out for them. Like you said, 5.45 is a good round with ballistics & recoil that's similar to 5.56, but at a more consumer friendly price.

5.45 is currently readily available online. Regarding price, the surplus (corrosive) stuff can be had for about $150/1080. Commercial runs about $170/750. The savings are there if you buy in bulk... but not nearly as big a savings as it was during the peak of "the panic". However, as you guys have mentioned, availability is somewhat of a concern. Milsurp will eventually dry up. I read something recently that the current inventory of milsurp that's already in the country may be one of the last shipments coming in... no idea how accurate that statement is. I've also read that Hornady will start making 5.45. If that's the case, supply may not be that much of an issue - the real question there is how much will factory US made 5.45 cost cost compared to 5.56. Time will tell I guess
  6. That's why i don't make the make trips out to Walmart. With the way ammo disappears off of shelves, you could call them, they tell you they have what you're looking for, and in the hour or more it takes to get there, they'll sell out.
  7. projekt records.. wow. haven't listened to much by them in years.. but it did prompt me to listen to this: Black Tape For A Blue Girl - I Have No More Answers
  8. what label is she on? K. Records I believe.. it's some indie label (had to look it up) ETA: http://www.krecs.com/html/artists/artis ... nterest=25
  9. It REALLY sucks that the Walmarts in NJ don't sell ammo...

    Glock Video

That's the guy that runs ADCO. Very helpful dude. He's also got another video on there where he throws a glock out of an airplane. Here a video of glock being fired 1000 times in 14 minutes: Some piece actually breaks off towards the end, but it still kept running

    Last permit....

Unless you're going for the sheer "hollywood oooohhh ahhhh" factor, skip the DE and go with the S&W.
  13. I forgot about this thread... and as usual I've been introduced to something new by mjsemtex Listening to: Cause & Effect - The Echoing Green
  14. That was my thinking as well. The Streamlight TRL-1 I have costs about 90 bux and it's dam bright... granted, it's a different type of light. But for 90 bux, this one should be a decent step above the cheap chinese knockoffs
  15. It's quite possible he was mistaken
  16. Just got an email from LTD - they have 55g .223 (PMC, Wolf, and Brown Bear), 55g 5.56 (Federal "Lake City"), and some .45 in stock. Decent prices if anyone is looking to buy in bulk
  17. yes - you probably are getting old but it's mostly laziness on my part. Plus, I almost always forget if Mossberg is 2 S's or 1
  18. This is what I should really be working on. Since I'm new to guns, I kinda jumped into the whole "scene" head first and started ignoring everything else.. and as a result, I think I have like 10 cans of tuns and a couple gallons of water stored away. not good... really need to get my ass in gear and get back on track with food storage
  19. Interesting - I didn't even know TacStar made flashlights. I have one of their sidesaddles on my Mossy, and so far it's been good to go, but no idea about their flashlights.
  20. That M1A is sick! And I absolutely LOVE the P7!! That's always been my dream gun even tho I've never even seen one in person
