  1. I like that whoever made this took the time to arm Granny with an Over-Under
  2. Gosh, no need to wait. Just received the following reply: "Dear Mr. [Me] Thank you for writing.Subject to possible change, our next board meeting is presently scheduled for May 20th at 10:00 a.m. If you are interested in attending, please let me know and I will send you a formal invitation the week of the meeting confirming final details. Sincerely, Jeffrey Doremus ANJRPC Corresponding Secretary" Good show ANJRPC. Have to see if I can make it to this one, but either way I'll be extending my thanks to Jeff for his prompt response.
  3. Understood. I'm thinking I'll give it a full week, shoot a polite follow up, then give it one more week before I start to seek out alternate contacts.
  4. Thanks. Shot an e-mail to both addresses.
  5. Wait, you posted "But that's just my opinion" earlier. To clarify, is this your opinion or specific legal advice you were given by an attorney? If the latter, why not share more detail on your attorney's thoughts?
  6. I don't believe there is adequate evidence to support that statement as broad universal fact. At best, it is something that might make a difference in a handful of hypothetical & very specific scenarios. I don't dispute your right to reach your own conclusion, but you're going a bit further than that when you dress a personal opinion up as emprical fact [without supporting evidence].
  7. 1) To me, the phrase "rolling the dice" suggests that it is universally agreed & understood that modifying a gun you use in self defense carries significant risk of crinimal consequences, when the reality is that such a notion is little more than a thought experiment regularly circulated by gun writers & gun forums. 2) Saying one should make sure the "shooting is not questionable" if they use a modified gun seems pointless to me. It is obviously a terrible idea to shoot someone under questionable circumstances REGARDLESS of how stock the gun used is or is not. If I'm holding a stock glock 19, do I really have less to worry about when deciding to shoot someone than if I had sent it off for trigger work? Of course not.
  8. LastShot, Do you happen to know when the next board meeting is scheduled? Thanks.
  9. Facts from where exactly? Rumors and speculation have exponentially greater sticking power when leadership is disinterested in [if not directly opposed] to openly communicating with the membership they [theoretically] act on behalf of. I wouldn't disagree that discussion of Bach's salary is something of a tanget and I know you're inclined to label discussions like this one as unhelpful, but what does it say about official ANJRPC communication when "pointless bitching" threads are more effective at keeping everyone up to date than the official "newsletter" or website? I just went on the ANJRPC website and checked my message inbox. Despite all the recent changes at the range, I appear to have "0" messeges. It looked like a step in the right direction when we had access to Anthony's feedback on the club, but that inlet dried up for unrelated reasons and now we're back to square one.
  10. CR is not unique or special in this regard. I'm sorry, but anti-gun politicians vision isn't based on movement and just hoping to slide by and go unnoticed would be a pretty weak willed strategy that essentially plays into their biased perception that we're doing something "wrong" by existing. Also, if that's really the ANJRPC approach to protecting the range, I'd find their dedication to being a 2nd amendment advocacy group questionable.
  11. It increases awareness of what goes on at the range. This is particularly key given a board so hopelessly set in their ways that they still operate under the borderline-hilarious assumption that an automated hotline is still a logical & comprehensive strategy for providing information to a large group of people.
  12. Fair enough. Although I had Yoda in my head reading that part.
  13. I've read this 5 times and I still don't understand what you mean. I even took the extra step of googling "watershed" to make I wasn't mistaken on it's meaning.
  14. I'm sure the board is already writing Google a very stern letter using the finest parchment this side of Constantinople.
  15. Based on LastShot's estimated completion date for this stage, it would seem that they expect it to be. That said, I wouldn't plan your day around it without calling the all-knowing availability hotline. Think of trips to the range as the equivalent of going to the movies in 1993. You need to call ahead and see what's playing.
  16. For the record, I do understand that you guys get a pretty raw deal in all this. The geriatric shadow council that dictates these things certainly isn't going to take the time to respond here, as you have, and I'm sorry that your reward for that is getting crap for their decisions [ which you don't have any control over in the first place.]
  17. I would rather see this kind of expense and effort directed towards something else. This feels like a solution in search of a problem. The decision to prioritize this and pass on improvements Ive been wishing for since the day I joined is frustrating. I honestly started off pretty optimistic about all the talk of improvements to the range, but that has passed.
  18. Yes, I was aware of those matches and why they require the range be shut down, but it looks like there are 4 of those scheduled for this year. On the whole, I only see 12 events on the calendar for this year that close the whole HR.
  19. Something doesn't add up with that. Events that normally shut down a range with "Forty-seven firing ports" will fit into a new section of only 10 firing ports? I know some of the events require unique range conditions & set up, but is that really the ONLY reason a scheduled event shuts down the handgun range?
  20. Would you recommend carrier pigeon or smoke signals? Telegraph would probably be easiest, but I wouldn't want my feedback to get lost in the shuffle.
  21. Fine. Closure of the handgun range to accomodate a project we have little information on is frustrating and acts as a springboard for unconfirmed reports that the work being done will benefit only a handful of specific parties & NOT the majority of the range's membership. The easiest solution to this would be for the board to provide clear communication about what the completed project will accomplish. Of course, that would only be effective if the project DOES actually benefit club members as a whole. If that's not the case, then concealing actual purpose of the work for as long as possible is probably the right strategy.
  22. The majority of that is a temporary cavity that retracts back to normal moments after the shot passes through and it is NOT considered a significant means of wounding with handgun bullets. The only thing that chart actually evidences is that handguns suck compared to rifles.
