Apparently I did sell that BCG with an upper. No REAL big deal, but I didn't intend to sell that upper with that particular BCG. Mine was just like the one pictured above, except it was marked "MP_C". All the rest of mine are marked "MPC" as above. The 'white smudge' is an inspection mark. Colt is using them as visual identifiers on bolts and some barrels I have seen. One of my 6940's (the older one of the 2, oddly enough), has a yellow inspection dot marked under the FSB.

Diamonds get you anal, so I've heard!

You may.

I realize an AR will never be an heirloom, it is a tool. Scratches, nicks, dings, all roll right off my back. My AR's are full of them, and I've never cried about them coming from the factory with a little character, and I've put a lot of character marks on them myself. I never would allow a little detail like that out of my shop to a customer, because my workmanship matters to me. I guess that's why it bothered me. Crazy, OCD, nit picky, call it what you will, but it bugged me. Fortunately I was able to sort it out, and quiet that demon. Lol

I have all of my carbines cut back to 14.7ish.

Both of my Colt 6940's. Almost identical. Too one has a EGW A2 comp, and a TA31F ACOG. That's my ranch rifle. The bottom one has a Battlecomp, and a TA01NSN ACOG. Spare rifle. https://www.dropbox.com/s/na2skzav0slnj34/Photo%20Jun%2017%2C%2016%2012%2045.jpg Second pic is my Remington 700 BDL in .243. This was my mom's deer rifle I inherited after she died. Many whitetail have been taken with that rifle. https://www.dropbox.com/s/matvx17wzyyvllg/Photo%20Jun%2017%2C%2016%2027%2053.jpg

Twins (almost). Colt 6940's. Top one has a EGW A2 comp, and a TA31F ACOG. It's my constant companion out at the ranch in Tx. Bottom one has a Battlecomp and a TA01NSN ACOG. "Spare" rifle https://www.dropbox.com/s/na2skzav0slnj34/Photo%20Jun%2017%2C%2016%2012%2045.jpg

Yep. Before pic is as I received it from Adco. The crush washer clearly off center. The after pic is much better. I had a go at it with a drift punch and a mallet. I was able to center it enough to make my OCD shut up.

In the safe now and I can't locate that 2014 bcg.. I fear I may have sold it with an upper I let go last week, although that wasn't my intention to so do. Let me keep digging.

Lol. I notice crap like that. And it bugs me. Scratches, nicks, not so much. The crush washer is a workmanship issue and it drives me crazy. I wouldn't let that leave my shop. I DO have to say that Adco turned that upper around in 3 hours. Shipped it on a Wednesday, they received it Friday at 9:30 am, and I had a return tracking number by 1:30 PM that day. Wicked fast.

Secure from the drill....I was able to tap on it with a mallet and punch and move it into alignment. It's centered now, and not driving me nuts. I know I was being a weenie about it, but for some reason it got under my skin. I guess because I wouldn't let some little detail like that leave my shop. Scratches and wear marks don't bother me in the least, but this did......again don't know why. OCD, I know. Too many years in the .mil paying attention to detail, I guess. It's not bad. Really. It's just making my head spin for some reason. I normally don't let crap like that drive me nuts as long as it's functional, but this gets under my skin. Don't know why. I'll try to whack it with a mallet and see if I can improve the situation. Will post pics when I get home tonight, so you guys can see how OCD I really am! Lol

I sent off one of my Colt 6940 uppers to Adco to pin/weld a Battlecomp on it. Received it today. And found the crush washer is like .5mm offset to one side. Makes my OCD kick in and my head spin. Normally, I'm a 'it's just a tool' kind of guy. Don't know why this is bugging me so much. I know from a functional standpoint it's no big deal. The comp and threads are perfectly concentric to the bore, but it drives me nucking futs. Should I send this back or just get over it??

I'll dig it out this evening

Pics of my bcg's?
-
All 4 of my Colts have MPC marked, full auto bcg's. 2009-2012 production. I just bought a recent (2014) build Colt bcg and it has a white inspection dot as well as MP_C markings.

Convinced. I'll put it in the marketplace this weekend.

I'm pretty well convinced in going to sell this AR. It's a pretty simple Colt 6920 with some upgrades. I can always buy a new upper and swap it onto another lower if I miss that particular configuration. The 901 makes sense for my usage, I like the idea of having a 7.62 AR, with the ability to change out the upper to 5.56. Put the 901 and a 5.56mm upper in a Pelican case and I'm able to deal with anything out at the ranch without taking 2 rifles with me. Less gear to travel with. Ed, I'd be very interested in seeing that Colt 1911. Been awhile since I have owned a nice 1911, and I kind of miss them. Traveling this week, wife has plans for me on Saturday, but may be able to slip in some range time Sunday morning.

That's awful neighborly of you! LMAO!

Thinking of selling one of my Colt AR's to (partially) fund a Colt 901 Modular Carbine. I'm a bit on the fence about it, as I regretted the last gun I sold. It won't leave me 'AR-less' by any stretch of the imagination. Have any if you guys sold an AR to fund another?

When I'm on the ranch in Tx, I always have one of my AR's with me for hogs, coyotes, and whatnot. For whitetail season, I have an old Remington 700 in .243. It was my Mom's hunting rifle. Love that little bolt action!

I have a metric assload of the converted PMags from Midwest PX. I prefer the 15/30's, but have some 15/20's

When they thread the muzzle, the 'smith will turn the end if the barrel down to the proper diameter. It's part of the package. https://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/shop_qnew.cfm?code=Barrel%20Threading

Maybe I didn't understand your question. Do you already have a pinned and welded muzzle brake on your rifle, or do you have a bare muzzle? If bare, you will need to have your muzzle threaded, and a brake pinned and welded on. Correct brakes for 5.56mm AR's are threaded 1/2"x28. Adco firearms does an excellent job of threading/pin/weld. There are local NJ shops that also do excellent work. If you don't want to thread your muzzle, you can buy bolt on brakes.

Standard 5.56mm muzzle brakes are threaded 1/2"x28
