  1. I am not saying it would go well.. I am not saying it would not be a fight.. but correct me if I am wrong.. legal verbiage has two important distinctions.. * Terms that are specifically defined within the law.. for example.. "substantially identical".. this term is defined.. so we know what it means according to the state.. * Terms that are not defined default to the common definition of a word.. using that mindset.. telescoping would be defined.. or it would not be.. it is not so that means the technical definition within the context of the law.. means exactly what the word means.. so following further.. for a stock to be considered "evil".. it would either need to fold.. or possess the characteristic of collapsing tube within tube.. if the stock does not.. it is neither folding or telescoping and therefore not considered an "evil feature"... the Evo stock is a really good example of this.. This stock does NOT fold or telescope.. obviously it would need to be on a 16in barrel gun.. but you get the idea..
  2. So.. I was answering another questions about a stock and it set off a lightbulb.. The fact that NJ AWB is written by people that have no idea about guns.. "folding or telescoping stock" folding is obvious.. but telescoping means something really specific.. does this mean that something like this would technically be legal since it does not fold OR telescope? it adjusts based on sliding rails.. NOT on the ability of a tube to slide within itself..
  3. first of all.. the stock does not adjust.. second.. how would they even get to that point.. the buttplate only adjusts with a tool.. "folding or telescoping stock" Even if you didn't need a tool.. this buttplate does not even technically "telescope"... the law was specifically written with the idea of demonizing guns like the AR15.. so the verbiage was chosen to address the way an AR stock slides over the tube.. actually that brings up a good point..
  4. I am not sure what you mean by "fantasy of room clearing"... if someone broke into my home.. if there was some loud noise in the night.. I would grab my gun.. and investigate.. I am not putting on body armor.. NVG.. etc.. it feels like your attempt to mock.. but I am not really sure.. I simply stated why I choose a carbine... I don't care if you use a bolt action 22.. a 357 revolver.. it literally makes no difference to me.. if you want to blow holes through the side of your home with slugs in a 12 gauge no worries.. have at it.. my carbine has an optic.. has more rounds than my handgun... is on a sling so lets me easily use both hands if I need to without worrying about holstering unholstering.. is less likely to kill the neighbor if a round goes through the wall (I live in a townhouse).. I am personally WAY more accurate and comfortable with a carbine... lastly the reason I posted the over penetration bit was simply to address your recommendation that a 45 is good when over penetration is a concern.. as I do not think that is a good recommendation..
  5. the rifle I am trying to "swing around" has a 7in barrel.. I am not sure how much experience you have with a SBR.. but you are describing it like I am trying to maneuver around with a LMG or something.. and using a laser "instead of" a WML.. that is a really weird choice..
  6. I disagree with the other posters.. if I am understanding the Zulu correctly it does NOT look like the stock folds or is telescopic.. it looks like the butt pad (part of the stock) is adjustable.. but the stock itself is fixed...
  7. IMO the ability for a round to do damage after passing through an interior wall is more a byproduct of mass than velocity.. 45 is probably the opposite of what you want.. .223 is a small light right traveling at high velocity... once the round contacts something it lacks the necessary mass to continue to do substantial damage to additional targets... additionally a handgun is not even remotely equal to a SBR for defense.. stability of a carbine.. ability to run a sling.. blah blah blah.. a carbine is superior in every way.. the only issue is .223 inside a structure is going to be LOUD and bright..
  8. I have run Aimpoints and Trijicons.. Leupold as well.. I have LITERALLY never experienced a failure.. or anything I would even consider close to a failure.. yes.. they are 400.. 500.. and 600 dollar optics.. but there is a reason they are they expensive.. and part of that reason is build quality..
  9. this thread has long since passed its prime time.. with that said I had to laugh a bit at some of this.. FA - "the gun is designed for home defense" some people "but it sucks at 50 yards" where the hell do you guys live? in like an abandoned car factory? a football stadium? a HD gun.. a gun that is exclusively home defense.. that thing is likely never going to see 50 yards.. and would certainly never see 100.. if that gun sees 100 yards.. you are going to see prison.. because in NJ its going to be really tough to justify a 50 yard shoot.. my go to HD gun has always been an AR.. in NJ it was a 14in AR pinned to 16.. now its a 7.5in AR SBR.. if I still lived in NJ.. I would likely own it.. I don't like the performance at range.. but in a home... its really hard to beat the ergonomics of a small AR platform gun.. and this gun.. even with being completely whacky.. would likely have no problem getting it done in the confines of your home..
  10. not on a pistol but on a carbine I have experience with both the delta point and RMR.... they are both solid reliable optics from my experience.. one note.. I had the green reticle RMR which is self powered.. this is IMO a no go on a SD gun.. the reticle would get washed out with a weapon light.. you won't experience that with the LED variety..
  11. yes LOL Trijicon AccuPower 1-4x24 30mm Riflescope .223 BDC Segmented-Circle/Dot Crosshair w/Green LED
  12. sorry just saw this.. its a great optic.. no problems at all.. it will never be "red dot" fast.. but its a compromise to have magnification.. and I am happy with it..
  13. you lost me at "big bore and ak47s.." the first gun my wife ever shot was a Saiga carbine... the first gun I put in the hands of every new shooter is a carbine.... for one simple reason.. they are less likely to sweep you and everyone around you with a carbine.. its easier to be muzzle aware when you are swinging around a yard stick in front of you... I feel safer with a new shooter and an AK.. than a new shooter with a 22 pistol.. but maybe thats just me..
  14. All the parts are installed.. about 45 minutes total.. the most annoying part was lining up the trigger spring and safety.. but no real issues.. all parts appear to be made well.. and the flat trigger is really nice.. New: Trigger Trigger Springs Safeties Mag Release Charging Handle Grip I don't think I am going to get this gun coated.. I think I am just going to leave this one black.. so its pretty much done till I SBR or suppress.. there is a really strong chance I am going to get a suppressor for this.. I don't mind the fee but I HATE the wait.. its so annoying..
  15. all my parts came... installing tomorrow.. installed the Magpul grip already.. what a difference that is.. factory grip angle was awful.
  16. There are several companies and styles.. you can pick something pretty similar just swept at a different angle.. you can use long forward facing bars.. and there is even a push button if that’s your thing.. I ordered ones that are similar just at a higher angle.. I think they were from HB.. but I forget I just ordered a bunch of stuff..
  17. I pretty much agree with most of that... but I simply wanted the smallest pseudo carbine I could put together that would fit in a backpack.. The grip trigger and safeties are a must change
  18. yes and it comes with the mlok handguard and pistol brace which I guess is pretty obvious..
  19. it is a Trijicon low mount.... but I have a suspicion it is made by American Defense.. it is literally exactly the same as every AD mount I have ever used.. it does not co-witness.. to give you an idea it is almost lower 1/3 co-witness in that if you really really tried hard you could probably get enough of a site picture to take a shot but not in a practical sense.. I am replacing the following parts this week: charging handle trigger trigger spring mag release safeties the design of the safeties is terrible IMO..
  20. the mag release took a few to get used to.. but I think it will be OK for me.. this is also a backpack / vehicle gun for me..
  21. I looked at both as well.. and not to take anything away from the Sig.. I am sure it is a great gun.. the Evo is really really made well from what I can tell... that is what I got.. the Micro..
  22. still trying to get used to this style of stock (brace).. the gun is SUPER compact.. like backpack with other things in it compact.. but cheek weld definitely took a minute to adjust to.. the sights are made really well... gun is BEGGING to be suppressed.. this might be the one that pushes me over the edge to buy a suppressor.
