  1. Thanks all for the help. Paper work completed and all is good so far.
  2. My previous FID card was issued in 1973. Going for a change of address and the 212A application is asking for a SBI number. Only number on the front of my card is the six digit followed by a letter. Are both numbers one and the same? The back of the card has SBI XXX-X-XX printed in the lower corner but is not accepted on the application. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  3. Not sure if it's correct, but I was told there are 2 people involved. A driver and another that will come and knock on the door. If there is someone home they act as if there lost and ask for directions. If not they try to get in. Any additional info will be appreciated as we have been on the alert for about a week now. Have any of these stories reached the newspaper?
  4. Hey Shawn, Are they in the lake at the Sportsman club?
  5. My 23 year old son and I shoot clays together quite a bit. However there are times when I can't go for one reason or another, but he wants to. So I guess I should just right up a bunch of COE's and turn them over to him. I've always wondered about this.
  6. I also live about 5 minutes from Delaware. We do almost all of our shopping there and most of my family lives there. The cost of living is cheap. Taxes, car insurance etc. Homes are a bit higher then South jersey , but recently there are some pretty good deals. The only thing a dislike is the traffic. Everywhere you go it is a problem. Not much open space. It is also much nicer below the C&D canal. More open space and less traffic.
  7. Yes we are both NJ residents and I've known the seller for 50 years. He has a Li'l Scout break open .22, and a Hawken style muzzleloader that is very old, probably an original piece. They were left to him.
  8. I know for purhasing longarms from a private party we must fill out the COE form. However is it legal to purchase from an idividual that does not have an FID? If so, would you just leave the area for the sellers FID blank on the COE? Thanks, Tom
  9. One of these times they will be caught by an armed homeowner.
  10. The question of the collapsible stock is answered in N.J.A.C 13:54-1.2 (#5) "Assault firearms" means: "5. A part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert a firearm into an assault firearm, or any combination of parts from which an assault firearm may be readily assembled if those parts are in the possession or under the control of the same person." Read and draw your own conclusion. The part would never see daylight at my house unless it was pinned.
  11. Thanks guys, I will be using either my 870 Marine magnum or my old Wingmaster deer gun. Thanks for all the help.
  12. Hello all, What are my limitations on building a home defense shotgun in NJ. I will be using an 870 Remington as a base. Was wondering about magazine capacity, pistol grips, folding stocks, etc. I understand the 18" and 26" rule. Thanks, Tom
  13. Thank you all for clearing this up for me.
  14. Hello all !!! Been poking around a while and decided to join. Great to have a NJ forum to communicate with fellow NJ gun owners. See ya at the range.
  15. The SVT has a detachable magazine, bayonet lug and a flash suppressor. What makes it legal?
