  1. I keep meaning to check that place out. I'd definitely go there just to get some practice in for an hour or so since it's so close to me.
  2. I guess I should also start using the foam plugs in addition to the muffs for added protection, just to be safe.
  3. Don't know the first thing about NRR, but according to google, mine are a 23. I'll probably pick up a better pair soon, I just picked these up when buying some ammo at the Bullet Hole a while back.
  4. Don't they only have skeet and trap? I really like the whole "course" atmosphere of sporting clays. I'd be willing to try it though. I'm really not a fan of having to drive so far to shoot.
  5. I shoot an 1100. No recoil problems. I barely feel it at all. Love that gun. Port Republic is way down the Parkway, past Long Beach Island. Exit 48. It's about 90 minutes from me, give or take. Lehigh Valley is about an hour and 15 minutes from me, and I go there just as much. Great place, but ALWAYS packed, in my experience. Red Wing is a great family run operation. Great setting in the Pine Barrens with plenty of fun and challenging shots at 18 stations, and the crowd is minimal compared to LVSC. I try to split my time between there and Lehigh, but on weekends I try to stay away from the Lehigh crowds. I'm more likely to go to Lehigh Wednesday-Friday.
  6. Front. My eyelids, more specifically. I get the feeling that they weigh about 10 pounds each. They never last long, and a couple of Aleve/Tylenol/Advil/etc. usually take care of it, but it's still annoying.
  7. So is the process the same for long guns, minus the permit paperwork? Just each fill out a copy of the COE and that's it?
  8. Anyone read the most recent American Rifleman from the NRA? A huge portion of it is dedicated to telling us that we should be worried about Obama BECAUSE he's remaining silent. Saying that he wants to win reelection and then once he's free of public opinion, he can go after the 2nd Amendment with everything he's got. Apparently he's put gun laws on the back burner because it's a sensitive topic and he doesn't want to lose whatever popularity he has left. But if he gets reelected, he doesn't have to care about public opinion anymore and he can go after 2A with all his might.
  9. Ear protection not an issue. I never take my muffs off. I close one eye, but I doubt that would cause a headache. I definitely don't squint. I've use all kids of ammo, from Estate to Remington to Winchester, etc. I DO use the same solvent and oil every time I clean it, but since I get the headaches after I shoot, not after I clean it, not sure if that could be it. And I wear regular eyeglasses, so I don't wear any sort of colored glasses. Appreciate the thoughts and ideas. I definitely don't expect a concrete explanation, but I appreciate any thoughts or experiences you guys have.
  10. Went clay-busting today. Since I'm most into sporting clays, not trap or skeet, and I live in North Jersey, there's nowhere that's exactly close to my house. Went to Red Wing in Port Republic today, which is just under 2 hours from me. Great place, been there several times and love it. Plus it was empty today. Barely anyone there. But I noticed when I got home that I had a massive headache, and then I realized that I get this same headache every time I get home from shooting. Other than that, i don't ever really get headaches. Maybe it's something about driving in a car with fresh gun fumes or something? Does anyone else get these headaches, or have a possible explanation for them?

  12. Happy birthday Maks! Keep up the great work.
  13. That's a legit question to me. I joined there less than a month ago just to shoot my rifle, and now apparently I won't be able to do that for a few months. So a big chunk of my membership fee just went down the drain. Luckily it's only 60 bucks for a whole year so it's not much to agonize over.
  14. Damn, that sucks. But will be a good thing, eventually, I suppose. Any idea on how long the whole thing is supposed to take?
  15. Oh cool, so that's one more present that I get to open myself!
  16. Ok so I'll buy it, wrap it, give it to her... she unwraps it, loves it, and then I get to say, "No no, you can't take it home. It stays here till you get your FID. Merry Christmas."
  17. So that's left open to interpretation? I can buy it for myself even though, honestly, I have no intention of keeping it once she gets her FID?
  18. Ok so I just re-read the rest of the posts on this thread. Seems that buying a gun for anyone who doesn't have an FID is illegal no matter what. Was a little hazy on the concept of straw purchases but it's clearer now. Guess I'll have to wait till she gets her FID to buy her a gun.
  19. Ok, so change of plans in what I originally said... New idea - my 25 year old sister does NOT have an FID, but is going to apply for one any day now. So the idea is to buy a shotgun (I pay for it, not her. It would be a gift), fill out the paperwork in my name, do everything through myself. My money, my ID, my forms, etc. And then, as soon as she gets the FID, I would go to an FFL and transfer the ownership to her. Just wanna double check the legality of this. Sorry to be a pest, and sorry if this is obviously legal or illegal, I just obviously want to do everything by the book.
  20. I'm sure that the PD would be thrilled if someone wanted to take roadkill home with them. Takes the burden off of their hands. I wish more people would do it. We see way too many dead deer laying on the side of the road for weeks at a time. Not sure what you would do with it once you got the meat and ate it, though... Any ideas?
  21. And he actually DOES hit more targets when using my gun. So the gun itself isn't the problem, but maybe there's something psychological in play here.
  22. Appreciate the concern. Was just asking hypothetical. It's a long way from actually happening. Just thinking about it because my old man has been struggling with the clays lately and is convinced that the gun is the problem (But we all know that's not the case. It functions perfectly). Claims he's gonna hang it on the wall and never put another round through it. Was just thinking about buying him something relatively cheap as a surprise just to see if his performance would actually improve.
