  1. The Bullet Hole is not the best, but not the worst (Mike's?). If you want knowledge and customer service, go to Caso's. If you are like me and you do the research and know what you want, the Bullet Hole works just fine. Carmine is nice, and the younger guy is too. I've bought two guns from them and I've used their range more than any other. The older range officer is nice, but he is very professional, and takes his job seriously as a RO should. If you respect the range rules, he warms up to you, if not he warns you and tells you what you did wrong. I'm actually glad to see such an attentive RO there since some of the shooters there seem to be "novice" at best. Again, if you want a range where you are more or less "unsupervised" I go to Bayonne, I feel like it's my private range (I have literally been the only person shooting for up to 30 minutes). FWIW, I brought my friend there for his first pistol a few days ago, and his experience was positive as well.
  2. I was at The Bullet Hole two days this past week, and both days there were a lot of people coming in to use the range between 5 and 6p.m.. They had some .45 in stock, as well as .22 LR and I paid normal price. I have to say, I was very pleased.
  3. Awesome information everybody, thanks for your help. Now I just need to figure out some prices. Expect a post in another sub-forum! When I started telling my boss about the FID and pistol permits, he looked at me like I had two heads. I guess I can't blame him... he came from a normal state. Lol
  4. My boss moved here from Nevada and brought his guns with him. He is thinking about selling me his Mauser or Lee-Enfield, however, he doesn't have a FID, nor does he intend to get one. Is it possible for me to legally transfer a gun from him to me? I feel like in my case a FFL needs to be involved. Any advice is appreciated. Sources would be a plus. (not that you need them, because everything on the internet is true.)
  5. I just have to throw my two cents in... Never fire a warning shot in NJ. I don't know NY law, but in NJ, a "warning shot" is simply negligent discharge of a firearm (or "deadly weapon") and can result in criminal charges. Shoot only if you truly believe your life or another is in danger.
