  1. I crack plenty of clay with my workhorse Browning Silver. You can crack as many clays with a $500-$1000 gun as you can a $100k gun. That said, figure out which shoulders well for you and get that. I find the beretta a little slimmer and the browning a little fatter in the grip. I like the action on the Browning over the Beretta. Either way, get a 28 or 20 inch barrel for clay and a few chokes. Also, a shell catcher will help you remain friends with people at the trap range. I pelted a kid in the head with my brass last time, now I have a catcher!
  2. You can easily defeat people in many arguements by breaking it down to origins of the issue and dragging them into areas they never though of or don't understand. You can do this with anything: guns, religion, politics, gay marriage, abortion. Saying "America!" "be American!" "it's your right" "we've always had this so we should still have them" are horrible, horrible ways to talk to someone about guns. Talk about why someone is mad about guns (and they are usually angry about something that has happened to someone) and figure out what they don't understand. Try to educate them as opposed to 'standing up for your your 'entitlement' " The same constitution that banned alcohol is the same that gives us the right to have guns; it's subject to issues. Don't stand behind merely the 'right' you have to ow;, earn the right to own one.
  3. I recently damaged my Browning Silver while dissassembling. I forgot to de-cock before removing the trigger group pins and it went flying forward and dinged the receiver. I need someone who can check it and fix it, Any central NJ suggestions or should I send it to Browning?
  4. if you want to send some lead n clay up by yourself, the Trius foot-launcher works well
  5. if you are headed up 287, right at the sloatsburg exit in NY is Davis Sport Shop. I've been picking up brids for 12.99 and federal Top Gun ammo for 55, not a bad deal at 6 per box
  6. I've been going back an forth, I was heavily considering a Remington 1100 competiton, but they don't seem to be available. I really want that Benelli, i really didn't like the shakey Mossburg pump as a cheap pump alternative. Maybe i'll check out some CZ's this weekend
  7. it seems 50/50 luck with CZ guns based upon some reading online, the firing pins seem to break. i don't think I'll be going with a CZ. I've heard good things about Baikal, but I'm not sure who carries them in NJ
  8. would this be because you are throwing more lead out of a 12?
  9. I'm looking to get a good clay gun to accompany my Browning Silver 12ga. I would like to keep shooting with I let a gun cool, I thought a 20 would be a good choice to go with the 12. I shouldered a Benelli Super Sport 20ga and loved it, just didn't like the tag at $1900. Is there anything really good in semi-auto or o/u in the sub $1k range that you would recommend?
  10. Browning Citoris are very nice, Baikals are inexpensive and effective, I see lot of positive reviews. O/U puts all the bang into your shoulder, I shot a 20ga OU that kicked hard than my Browning 12ga semi-auto...all depends what you want: weight, length, etc.

    New purchase

that gun case would cause space problems in my little 13 Whaler!
  12. I rarely use the safety on my 92fs if it is just me. Treating all guns as if they will blow at any second is always the idea, the business end is always away and down range and I have a firm grip going into battery, finger off trigger. I'm always in single at that point.
  13. I just ordered a sight pusher from brownells for my 92, if you need to make some sight adjustments LMK
  14. how big of a lake? I'm traveled up to wallenpaupak, but have yet to drop my Whaler in the drink and check it out.
  15. 9mm federal is also on sale for 9.99, got me 20 boxes and $5 shipping!
  16. it gets busy but there is so much eye candy in the cases, 20-30 minutes goes by before you know it
  17. 9mm Herters going for 10.39 a box online at Cabelas!
  18. If your budget is 1k, you can get a 92 for $600 and a Browning Buckmark or Ruger Mk3 for 350-400. You could be out the door with two guns under $1k
  19. I agree with PK's interpretation, it doesn't say anything about ownership, it's the sale. But if you can't buy it, how do you get it unless you lived in another state, bought it legally, and now live in NJ with the weapon stored in another state. ..so when does this ban die again? ha!
  20. no, thanks for the straight answers, I rather enjoy not being in jail! I wonder if the ban will ever lift in NJ..is that supposed to come up in 2012 for renewal?
  21. You are correct, the situation will move from hypothetical to reality if I can do it. I suppose I could call a dealer/FFL in VA and ask if they would sell me an AR. If they do it, then it would be my responsibility to make sure it does not come into NJ if it has the evil features still present (F&T stock, threaded barrel) I guess the question is, does the NJ ban restrict the guns from being in the state only or because my residence is in NJ, no NJ residents can own the rifle? I'm confused, but at this point it seems worth asking about....just keep in another state that doesn't ban them...plus there is a rifle range about 5 miles from my family's house, it would be ideal.
