  1. NJDiver, Checker, Thanks guys. I'm in Frenchtown right off Rt. 513 right on the border with PA (literally like a 2min. walk from my front door, lol). I'll look into EFGA as I'm about 15min. from Clinton/I-78.
  2. This kind of stuff really pisses me off. My father was a Marine in Vietnam, never bragged about it, or even wanted to discuss it. My brother who is a year older than me did 8yrs. in the Army as a helicopter crew chief on UH-1's and then UC-60's right after Desert Storm with the 101st. AB. Mom wanted me to be the college graduate and so I went that route instead (did take my ASVAB and scored really well). I know all the jargon (what an MOS is, I was gonna be slated for 97E, AIS, etc.). I wear a pair of Dog Tags and get asked all the time "were you in?" and never, not once, would I disrespect my dad, my brother, and all the other vets out there by lying and saying yes. I explain that "no, my dad and brother are vets and I wear them in honor of their service" It's a shame that some people feel thier life is so...boring? that they would lie and tarnish the honor of those who have made the ultimate commitment. Just my opinion.
  3. Hey All, I was looking at the boards and see all these meetups and clubs but most of them tend to be a trek for someone like me in Hunterdon. I was wondering if there were any in this area that members here might know of? Thanks,
  4. MANFRA, Good god man don't do it!!! LOL I thought NY laws were bad....then I moved to NJ :-( Anyway, from what I understand lunker is right in terms of the carry permit. As for the AR it is legal in the state as long as it does not have more than two of the following (bayonet lug, folding/collapsible stock, grenade launcher, pistol grip, detachable magazine). the magazine is 1 and the pistol grip would be 2. If it has any of the others it's a no-go in NJ. It is also my understanding that the 30rd. mags would not be legal either. Hope that helps.
  5. Thanks Checker, Thanks NJDiver. I'll probably pick up a flip to side when they are restocked for a 2nd. AR build.
  6. NJDiverTony, Checker50, Thanks guys. my order has shipped so hopefully I'll have them by the end of the week or so. As for when it comes to being mobile, I looked for a flip/swing out mount but they seem to be out-of-stock everywhere so I went with a quick release mount for the magnifier.
  7. So, in his infinte wisdom (<---- note sarcasm here) Mayor Bloomberg has shown all NY'ers EXACTLY why THEY DO need firearms by trying to use the NYPD as a political tool against those with whom he does not agree. Brilliant Mike, maybe next you should prove to all NY'ers why they shouldn't drink soda by shutting off the water supply. You F***ing Tool!!!
  8. Hey All, Thanks for the advice/comments. I ended up going with the PAM3M red dot w/a PA 3x magnifier (GENIII).
  9. All, I'm planning on putting a red dot and magnifier combo on my Stag 8. I was wondering if this combo would be sufficient for primarily using at the range. Primary Arms PAM3M Primary Arms 6X magnifier Any thoughts/suggestions/recommendations are welcome. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the Welcome James and Redfish.
  11. Welcome to the Forum. I was at Heritage Guild in Branchburg this past Saturday. Great Place!!! Friendly Staff, and Knowledgable. Picked up my first AR15 (Stag) and love it.
  12. Hey All, Well, I took a ride over to The Heritage Guild in Branchburg today. Great place with great people. When all was said and done I walked out with a Stag model 8. She just felt right when I held her. Next step, to customize her :-)
  13. Glennp, Cool, good to see another reenactor here (now you know why I was inquiring about the STG). Ah, the field cluster***, lol. I feel the same way about the village battles sometimes lol
  14. Sorry guys if I'm ressurecting a dead topic. JETAgent, what unit are you and your dad with? I'm with Bob Lawrence's 7th. Kp. Grossdeutschland Div. Do you guys do the village battle? My unit is the OpFor for that. I'm usually there with my Bfong Mp-40. It's a great show, but I end up spending Sooooo much cash at it, LOL
  15. Thanks Sivl32 and FLHX. Looks like I'll be hitting the shop tomorrow and get to check them out. I'll definitely post here once I've decided on one.
  16. Thanks Rifleman1 and Clintoon.
  17. Holeshot, Thanks bro, I'll definitely keep that in mind. I keep hearing these are the way to go in terms of ARs. Awesome! I will keep that in mind and let you know how it goes this weekend and maybe we can set something up.
  18. j0n, Thanks for the info. Yeah, the shop by me has a tricked-out M&P in one of their pics, if it's in the shop and available when I go this weekend I'm gonna purchase it on the spot (I've only heard good things about the M&P). Barring that, I'm just trying to keep my options open.
  19. Hey Guys, Gonna be jumping into the AR pool. I was looking at the possibility of maybe picking up a GSG 522 or maybe an ISSC MK22 since the shop by me has both in stock. I was wondering if anyone has experience with either of these or might know anything about them. I've seen mixed reviews of the ISSC MK22 online so I'm not sure about it. Ideally I'd like to get a Stag 3L or 3G or an M&P 15, but for now I'm looking into the GSG 522 or MK22. Any feedback would be appreciated. Cutter
  20. Thanks Clerk, glad to be here :-)
  21. Thanks Zouave. Yeah, I love my little 98. I recently picked up a repro ZF-39 scope and LSR mount and have been thinking about turning her into a sniper variant, but not sure yet.
  22. Thanks Scott That's a question I've been asking myself ever since I wanted to "upgrade" from my Mauser k98, LOL
  23. Frenchtown, N.J. Initial FID Submitted paperwork 6/11/12 Fingerprinted 6/11/12 FID ready for pickup 7/09/12 On a side note. I dealt directly with Chief Kurylka. Seemed really pleasant and had no problems helping with the paperwork to ensure everything went smooth. Some of the other officers seemed...less than enthusiastic about someone wanting an FID. The chief was so helpful that he told me to call dispatch and tell them to have an officer meet me at the station so I could pick up my FID after hours..
