  1. Noticed a bunch of PD qualification targets hanging in each port on a recent visit to the range. This got me interested in learning more about the actual requirements. I thought some members here might be able to enlighten me as to the typical target distances, rounds fired, scores needed to pass, what happens if you don't pass, etc. Thanks

What?! Where's all that amusing "Glock Hate!" I'm forced to endure on a daily basis? Anybody? Why just the other day I had to listen to a coworker go on and on about how much he hates Glocks. He probably read somewhere on the interwebs that he was suppose to hate them or something. Oh well. It sure is refreshing to see so many positive comments about Glocks outside of a Glock forum at least. Maybe I'll start a support group... "Hi my name is....and I'm a Glockoholic....It started with a G19 Gen 4. I told myself I could stop myself anytime but this soon lead to a G23 Gen 4 then G17..."
  3. Did they happen to mention how long it would take to get those permits? I'm thinking of applying for more permits.
  4. I personally hate to shop and prefer to research and decide exactly what I'm buying prior to walking into a retail establishment. Perhaps that makes me an extremely low maintance customer who wouldn't necessarily notice or get to experience poor customer service but here it goes... Recently purchased several handguns from SS. I was happy that they had what I was looking for in stock each time I was ready to make a purchase. Prices paid for each gun were fair. All transactions went smoothly. In my opinion all of the staff members I've delt with so far have been very polite and professional. I was recently trying to decide which indoor range to become a member of and ultimately decided to go with SS based on these recent experiences in dealing with them. I'll admit that they seem to have their busy times... I went there to make a purchase on a random Monday this past summer when people seemed to be buying guns like it was the end of the world. (Actually I thought that was kind of neat to watch) and felt the staff was doing a great job keep things moving all things considered. I can't help but wonder if some of the less than stellar experiences i've read about have occurred during or right after those extremely busy times. Again this is just an opinion based on my recent experience with them.
  5. Great idea. How about the former Kelly Chevrolet dealership property in Howell . Large service area building could be the indoor range portion. Showroom area could be the retail gun sales area. Great location just off 195. Accessible from the Parkway or Turnpike.
  6. LOL. Yeah Those leftovers can be dangerous. It was pretty late when I finally decided to head over there last Friday and it actually worked out perfectly. Parking lot looked packed when I pulled in. Luck for me the Friday night "date night" crowd was calling it a night about the time I walked in the door. I love when a plan comes together.
  7. LOL Yep. Funny you should mention that. At the rate I've been going through ammo lately I probably should consider reloading. Is there a big difference in savings reloading 9mm?
  8. It's crazy that someone would attempt something like this at a range/gun shop. I'd like to assume that a majority of those who work behind the counter of a shooting range are either armed, have a weapon in close proximity and can also handle a gun well. In other words...aren't going to be helpless victims. Talk about mere seconds to realize something very bad was about to happen and react.IMO The counter guy appears to react almost instinctively to the threat. I wonder if this is the result of years of formal defensive training or if he was just very lucky.
  9. Been following and enjoying NJ gun forums for the past few months and figured it's about time I said hello. Just getting back into shooting recently since initially getting hooked in the early 90's and having a blast..... To the point of purchasing 3 new handguns and a membership at an indoor pistol range, all in the last few months. Then there's the new obsession with daily web searches for info on how to improve my shooting skills, of course that's only when not searching for the best online deals on bulk ammo or new gear. Anyways, I just got back from the range earlier this evening and felt compelled to post an introduction. Glad to have found this site and a thanks to all the forum members, I've learned quite a bit here in the past few months.
