The current setup and my last 2 3-shot groups @100yds. I know the rifle is better than this but I'm still happy with the results.

I went to EFGA today for the first time, and someone had a small spinner on the 100yd range. I know it says paper only in the rules, but I guess no one minded. I was there from around 4 until 5.

Well, have you? That was the question I asked myself, after realizing that I was posting my level of discontent on a forum of equally discontent, law-abiding, voting, citizens of every area of NJ. I contacted my local representative (unfortunately I didn't save a copy of what I sent), but a few weeks later, this is the response I received; Dear Mr. Koontz: Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to the enactment of stronger gun control legislation. I appreciate having the benefit of your views. I want you to know that I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. I have consistently supported measures protecting this important provision of our Constitution. As you are aware, the President has announced a series of legislative changes he would like to see enacted by Congress. Personally, I feel we ought to enforce existing laws before considering any new ones. Please be assured that I welcome your views. Sincerely, Rodney Frelinghuysen Member of Congress Now, I'm sure this is their cookie-cutter response to what I said, but if we all VOICE our opinions outside of election day, we might be able to stem, or even reverse, NJs infringements on our rights.

Got the call yesterday that the cross-threaded cap was out, with no damage to the threads! Went back to Tier1 after work and Mike explained how the scope picture should appear when shouldering the rifle naturally, and he locked it down when we got it to where it was most comfortable. Many thanks to Mike at Tier1Defense!

Took it to T1D tonight and one of the damn base bolt thread caps is cross-threaded (from Remington). I wouldn't believe it unless I saw how cocked it was. Had to leave her there, but I'm so very glad I took it to them, as the other 3 had to be heated to be removed... I would have wound up stripping the heads.

Anyone know what the latest time is that a dealer can call and process a NICS? The rifle should arrive Thursday, but I'd have to take off working overtime to pick it up before 8pm

I wound up buying a bolt... Remington 700P LTR. I wanted one before my FID change of address fiasco (5 months) and it's on its way!

WOW I totally forgot to add in the fact that I want it sighted, as well... It's been a long week.

I'd like to have a gunsmith do it for me. I appreciate everyone suggesting that I do it myself, but knowing myself, it'd be better if I had an expertly done example to compare my work to. Edit: And, as stated above, this is my first scoped gun, so I'm really not comfortable doing the work myself

Once I have an example of how it should be done 'in hand,' I may be comfortable doing it myself. My current work schedule doesn't afford me the time to do it myself, and I'd like to take the 'well maybe I did it wrong' thought out of my head when I get time to go to the range. I'm up at 4:30am and home at 8pm... If I think of it as "I'm doing this to have nice guns," it takes the edge off

I bought my first bolt action (a Rem 700P LTR .308) and I need to have my Primary Arms 4-14X44 scope mounted on it. I've never had or used a scoped rifle, so it's all new to me. Edit: sent too soon, I'm in Essex county but wouldn't mind driving to get a quality job.

Post didn't go through... Too long, didn't read; I wanted a semi but bolt may be better suited to my needs. Now I'm back to square 1!

I finally have my proper FID (address change = 5 months) and I still want a .308. Thing is, I've seen a lot of great bolt-action options, but I've also seen a lot of .308 semis that I think I might like better. Purpose: Range and maybe hunting (infrequently) Form: no tacticool stuff, a bipod and scope (adjustable preferably). I was originally thinking of a Rem 700, but then I saw the semi options and was hooked. Anyone hunt in NJ and/or VA? Are semis allowed in .308? (Sorry for the newb question, I have yet to take hunters ed & get my license) So I guess my question is, "Given my intended use, can y'all suggest a semi-auto .308?"

Here's a scenario... FID holder and his girlfriend move within PRNJ. (Now) former-FID holder has paperwork in for change of address. FID-in-waiting leaves for work at 5am, someone breaks into his house and the girlfriend shoots him in self-defense with FID-in-waiting's gun. The house is the permanent residence for both FID-in-waiting and girlfriend. Have either broken a current law?

WOPD just told me they're telling everyone 6 month wait... Understaffed and too many applications. I'm at 10 weeks to the day now.

One of my references got a form in the mail today (day 38?), he's going to scan it and send it to me.

Once you understand that a 6' fall can make you just as dead as a 1300' fall, it's all the same (at least in my opinion)

First accident cost us a USAF Iraq veteran, who fell to his death in midtown Manhattan. Second accident, an asbestos abatement contractor fell to his death in Newark. Third accident, (still being investigated,) a worker fell 2-4 floors and was rescued by FDNY, and at the time of this posting, was expected to survive. I know people who would have died if they weren't wearing their harnesses, and weren't hooked up. Please take a few minutes to discuss this with your coworkers. Work safe.

Good point, and I'm definitely trying to walk that fine line. Factor in my budget, and I feel like I'm looking for a friggin unicorn!
